Dean Ayala: No More Even & Odd Cards for Witchwood
Many players have been worried that there were going to be too many Even and Odd mechanic cards in the set and up until now, all we knew is that not every class would have them. Thanks to Dean for confirming to PC Gamer in an interview that everything we've seen now is it.
Quote from Dean AyalaAre there more even and odd cards we haven't seen?
There's just the four that we revealed in the video plus the two legendaries. That's the totality. We're going to have a lot of Echo and Rush stuff too, which I think are interesting mechanics.
Here are all the currently revealed cards which make use of the mechanics, starting with the most recent.

More Stat Tracking Isn't Needed
In the same interview with PC Gamer, Dean talks about Stat Tracking in China and why he doesn't think the core game needs it.
Quote from Dean AyalaWe have very minimal stat tracking now. We have your level, what your highest arena key is, total wins… and the reason we have that is because we think it's the right amount. It's super high level stuff and there aren't menus of pages tracking how much damage you do on Tuesdays. I think a lot of players do want more data, but I don't think it's necessary for a large majority of the player base. We take the UI very seriously on Hearthstone, where if we can choose not to add another pane then we don't. One of our UI designers always used the phrase "death by a thousand cuts," where you keep adding one more thing…
I can't see how odd mage or druid will be decks with just those cards. You have to give up Frostbolt, Fireball, Blizzard and Water Elemental to get Black Cat and improved hero power. Druid has to give up wrath, wild growth, swipe and Ultimate Infestation for that 4/8 taunt that can be silenced to 2/6.
Or we could have yet another Corridor Creeper situation. The majority of the time, the community gets a lot of the predictions wrong. Doing it this early and is making it even less likely to be right.
So 6 out of 135 cards are specific to even/odd. That is 4.4 % of the cards. The number should have been around 10%. This is not enough support. Blizzard is really missing an opportunity to get a do over on Inspire minions here. Hopefully they will keep adding a few even/odd cards in the next 2 expansions to keep this mechanic alive.
Edit: If you are not making any more even/odds then we better not be getting any bullshit filler cards like Sewer Crawler.
I'm very unhappy to hear that they canceled including interesting even & odd cards that take real deck building skill to play with and just put back in the original power creeped cards that the meta mind slaves want to have added into their already meta decks when the new set is released.
Even if odd-and-even was viable, be would still just netdeck the optimal decks for the mechanic. That sadly is just the way it goes with card games.
What "takes real deck building skill" in cards that are forced to one archetype ???? If you want to make an odd/even deck, you have to put these cards, and if you don't, these cards are useless. This is the most anti deck-building skill thing ever...
On the contrary, the less forced-synergy cards like these happen in the game, and the more even and odd-costed archetype are interesting deck-building challenges.
Do you simply understand deck crafting ?? DO YOU EVEN DECK CRAFTING BRO ?!
I can't help but feel that there were more odd/even cards that were already designed, but they were decided to be pulled and replaced with something else due to all of the complaining from some groups in the community.
If that would indeed be the case for this we all know who to blame.
I'm pretty sure the set has been all but complete for some time now. Maybe minor tweaks happen in the last month or so before the release but I doubt they ditched cards and created new ones this late in the game.
Its been said that they design sets a year or two in advance.
They have learned their lesson about putting to much into one mechanic in a set a long time ago. I'm actually surprised there are any cards that support those types of deck builds. I expected there to be zero cards that interacted with those legendary cards.
Where’d they say the bit about 15 cards? Only remember them mentioning Golakka Crawler.
When has people complaining about cards ever stopped Blizz? If they listened to the community all the time we'd have nothing.
Just when I had hype about even and odd you f*cked it up. Wow draw a card deal 2 damage double hp and gain +2 +2. HOLY ARGHHH DAMN I CANT THINK OF MORE CARDS SO HARDDDDDDDDDD. I wished you gave an even or odd leggie as free to build decks. Now if I get one ill just disenchant. Thanks for f*cking us over. Classic Blizzard.
