Dean Ayala: No More Even & Odd Cards for Witchwood
Many players have been worried that there were going to be too many Even and Odd mechanic cards in the set and up until now, all we knew is that not every class would have them. Thanks to Dean for confirming to PC Gamer in an interview that everything we've seen now is it.
Quote from Dean AyalaAre there more even and odd cards we haven't seen?
There's just the four that we revealed in the video plus the two legendaries. That's the totality. We're going to have a lot of Echo and Rush stuff too, which I think are interesting mechanics.
Here are all the currently revealed cards which make use of the mechanics, starting with the most recent.

More Stat Tracking Isn't Needed
In the same interview with PC Gamer, Dean talks about Stat Tracking in China and why he doesn't think the core game needs it.
Quote from Dean AyalaWe have very minimal stat tracking now. We have your level, what your highest arena key is, total wins… and the reason we have that is because we think it's the right amount. It's super high level stuff and there aren't menus of pages tracking how much damage you do on Tuesdays. I think a lot of players do want more data, but I don't think it's necessary for a large majority of the player base. We take the UI very seriously on Hearthstone, where if we can choose not to add another pane then we don't. One of our UI designers always used the phrase "death by a thousand cuts," where you keep adding one more thing…
Spell power on the Black Cat is really good with Flamestrike and hey many people put Azure Drake in their deck even having no damaging spells just for the card draw and decent stats... Greater Arcane Missiles rotate out together with Firelands Portal, so yeah we would need some good spells from Witchwood for mage...
Kinda surprised honestly. Was expecting each class to have at least 1 even or uneven support card.
I wonder if they had more "even and odd" cards planned but because of the negative feedback they replaced it with backup expansion cards? It seems very odd (no pun indended) that they would even (also no pun intended) introduce this very specific mechanic with very little supporting cards. True, they introduced Reno Jackson, Kazakus, Raza the Chained, Inkmaster Solia, and Krul the Unshackled without supporting highlander cards, but those were powerful game swinging legendaries. I found it strange they were introducing minor class-specific odd-even cards
people initially thought all the cards you mentioned were bad cards... also justicar truehart was exceptional... dont discount these cards...
not discounting at all—the legendaries make sense to me. i'm just wondering why they didn't just pursue the odd/even thing further with the class cards
The mechancic is so uninspiring, and the reward being either the justicarr hero power (which we've already seen) or a 1 mana hero power, that whether they are 'good' or not I am glad that no more set space is being taken up with the idea. I wish they'd be braver with cool new mechanics and ideas and then just willing to nerf later (and promptly) if they over do it. Show some balls.
You mean brave like they were with Jades? No, thank you.
I am quite certain they don't want regular casual players to actually see their <40% overall winrate.
That could be true haha. It's too bad they don't just have a link on your Account page in the website though. I mean, they already have crazy stats showing in Overwatch, Diablo, World of Warcraft. Seems silly to not put it in here haha. Especially when they say they have everything so readily available.
"We take the UI very seriously [by not doing anything to improve it]" is kinda how I read that haha. I love the game, but the developers' comments in recent months is a bit annoying.
Some additional stats would be easy. Show us win/loss per class, and win/loss against class. Show us win/loss per class in arena (maybe don't need win/loss against class in arena, I don't play arena so I don't care lol).
To people talking about being disappointed in no more odd/even cards... Could you imagine going against a deck where 75% of the deck was a HUGE tempo swing for building in a "tricky" way? It was tough enough going against tempo rogue when Keleseth rogue was still viable. It would be brutal (think Patches, it essentially says "If you have a turn 1 pirate play, summon a 1/1 with charge" and everyone HATED that card for years). I personally thought Patches was a bit overrated, until the whole Keleseth thing, where he got a bit more ridiculous.
The people complaining about no more odd/even synergies would complain about the decks with the synergies, or play them more themselves. Think about it, just a little bit haha. Oh yeah, and I haven't even mentioned the tempo swing of having an improved hero power, one way or the other.
Edit: I dumbed down the Patches text a bit too much, but whatever, the point still stands haha.
They don't want you too see wins vs losses because then the people who have low winrates might feel discouraged and quit the game. Even the people with positive winrates might get discouraged when they see that their winrates aren't as high as they thought they were. It would likely do more harm than good to the game.
I'm a bit disappointed to be honest, I wanted just a few more of those.
Blizzard as a long history of not showing details for their players. Just look at Overwatch, they don't even want to show how much damage basic/skill does.
that information is literally public in OW what are you talking about lol
Isn't that odd that there are 3 odd cards and 1 even, which is uneven.
Seems odd to me
