FOREVER I hated this card because it helped druids get their combo faster, but today they nerfed combo... Now I don't know how to feel. Was this truly necessary? Blizzard thinks it was, and it probably will be with the new cards coming out.
One of my favourite all-time decks was that Echo of Medivh deck with the echoed moltens. With this change, that deck could still function well enough. The other molten deck I had a tiny bit of fun with was the old warrior deck with Mortal Strike--also seems like it would still function well.
The only deck this really affects is Handlock, and deservedly so, I feel.
I completely agree. Force of nature could've also be played as removal or defensively, now it's neither. If they only nefed savage roar the combo would be dead and this card would still be viable.
This is exactly how I feel. I really liked the idea of having Force of Nature as a defensive card. Savage Roar is the problem card, but it hasn't been changed at all. With the Treants no longer being able to charge, the card can't be used defensively anymore.
I'm really disappointed by Blizzard's decision here. Obviously they have all the data and it should be presumed that they know what's best for their own game in terms of balancing, so we'll just have to wait and see how things work out in the end.
This seems like a neutral change in almost any situation--literally not good nor bad. I honestly don't think 0 or 1 matters in a hunter deck. I could be wrong. Unleash the Hounds + Knife Juggler + Hunter's Mark can't be used on turn 5 without coin now, so maybe that's good enough.
I'm not disappointed the minion only has 2 health now, I'm disappointed that it still has its silence effect and costs exactly the same. No one ever played Keeper of the Grove because it had 4 health. They play it to remove something with the 2 damage or to ruin someone's fun by silencing something. Silence has become even more deadly in Whispers of the Old Gods; Keeper is far from nerfed.
I've always loved the hunter class. I've played some of the funnest hearthstone decks with hunter. Obviously, due to face hunter decks, the class as a whole has gotten a cancerous reputation. I hope these new hunter cards, as well as standard mode, can bring into the light more mid-range or control type hunter decks, that would make me very happy. It's unfortunate that standard is losing Feign Death, but I think deathrattle hunter can still be fun to play.
Ooohhh this makes the effects of yogg sharon even more chaotic...
Would that work? It was stated that any spell Yogg-Saron, Hope's End casts doesn't count as your hero casting it, so things like Mana Wyrm and Flamewaker don't activate. So if Yogg uses Embrace the Shadow, I don't think it would make all the restore spells he may cast do damage instead, because your hero isn't the one casting it. But then again, Yogg is the one casting Embrace the Shadow and the text says 'your healing effects,' so would 'your' properly translate to 'yogg's healing effects' in this instance? Oh no, I've gone cross-eyed.
At 6 mana, I'm not sure I'm as interested in this card as I should be. Sometimes I wish they would also explain their reasoning for costing some cards the way they do.
I do understand everyone's concern for Grim Patron possibly dominating ladder once again, but to me this seems like a more FAIR format for patrons to be good; they wont be so cancerous as they once were in the light of Warsong Commander's former glory. It's OTK vs non-OTK.
Looking at the new cards collectively, one would hope very much that new Hearthstone meta for standard is a very slow one. It will be hard to make that happen since many aggressive cards are theoretically not rotating out this year (or ever, as they're part of the basic/classic sets); aggro shaman, face hunter, and zoo decks will still be strong.
Stealth could become one of the most important mechanics in the new meta, making rogue very competitively viable. Master of Disguise is probably a problem card that may or may not be dealt with. But one thing's for sure, Big Game Hunter and Ironbeak Owl will be destroyed by the old gods.

Yeah... Well... It's not like I even want to use Blade Flurry because it would ruin my powered up Poisoned Blade.

At least my turn 3 8/8 Edwin VanCleef lives a little longer now! (Kappa)

Might be cool for bringing out Malygos to steal you a next-turn lethal.
Chromaggus can get you an instant extra draw.
Ysera being played for free is always a plus.
If your opponent kills Deathwing, Dragonlord and it tosses out Nozdormu, it could catch them by surprise and ruin the rest of their turn.

Randuin? Casino mage? Nope. It's Valeera's time to shine.
I'm thinking miracle rogue with Lorewalker Cho. In Wild, you can even experiment with Trade Prince Gallywix!
