Fluxflashor posted a message on PSA: Free Arena Ticket - leave an unfinished run before RoS launchesPosted in: The ArenaIt's a new thing they're trying, I guess. Cut the middleman. Poor guy. Just got this gig after he quit Blizzard as their cameraman for killing him so much :p
It's a feature we've had a forever and doesn't get used much. I guess because we want to incentivize multiple page views. For stuff like this though, it's a bit dumb to give people some info and then pass them over to the forums.
The card design competitions over the past week have also been just hotlinked over. It saved some time during the painful reveal period but I've kinda realized that we're just formatting the same information twice, it's kinda better to force people over to the thread - it might even get us more votes / submissions.

enlargeyourp posted a message on New Warrior Legendary - The Boom ReaverPosted in: NewsThis Card is good, but the problem is that sometimes it just does nothing. But again, you are playing this in a deck with enough minions to sustain it's effect. Also it's kinda cool to have the mech tag, since it can be pulled from discovery effects that warrior have access right now. I have to say, I really wished the shuffle minions in the deck scheme was in warrior, it would be way less broken, and you could be consistent in effects like this this.

GetchX posted a message on New Warrior Legendary - The Boom ReaverPosted in: NewsMy first initial reaction was that this was a bad card.
However, it's starting to grow on me. It's likely on average a 7/9 body, deal 4 damage and summon something like a 4/3 body. Obviously results will vary, but on average that's likely what you are getting. That's meaty stats plus something that affects the board immediately which you absolutely must have for such a high mana cost.
I mean, we had decks entirely built around Spiteful Summoner, which is a 4/4 and an 8/8 (on average) for 7 mana, which had a worse deck limitation. For 3 more mana you get about the same stats plus something that immediately affects the board, and could be even better if you really try to create a deck for it. What if this was put in, say, a Dragon Warrior deck?
Not saying this will be a good card (The Boomship never saw much play), but there's potential here, especially if warrior has the tools to stall to the late game. I've gone from "Bad card" to "has potential".

Not to poke, but yeah, as clarification, ANY minion put into play from any circumstance is considered "summoned". "Played" means summoning a minion by manually "casting" the card from your hand. "Playing" a Boar and "summoning" it from your hand with this guy on the board would give it 7 health, same as if you resurrected it to re-"summon" it, or if your opponent forced you to "summon" it by yanking it from your hand with a Dirty Rat.

I think flavor wise, that's kinda the point. While his buddies are fighting EVIL in Dalaran, he literally raided the mage's archives and grabbed whatever he could, because he's self serving like that. His quest reward (the mage one) is full of random scrolls that he grabbed and has no idea how to use, and his new weapons hits random targets, because, quite frankly, he has no business being a mage. I can see how some are off-put, but I love the flavor and think it's pretty funny.

The flavor of this card is pretty perfect.
Reno, obsessed with treasure, ignores all heroic motives and just raids the archives while the other heroes battle EVIL. Caught up in battle while fleeing, he just pulls from the pages and throws ANY spell he can to see what sticks, having no idea how to use the power before him, which explains the "random" aspect of his hero power. Makes sense why he's in Mage this time around, he just MADE it happen...because he's a lovable idiot who's gonna be rich!

Fantastic site, you all will be missed. Thank you for the great content, resources and memories. I'm actually really bummed at this, Hearthstone is one of my favorite games lately, and this site seemed super active, but I understand there is a human element behind the scenes. In any case, wish you all well on your next steps, and again, thank you.

Enjoying so far! I appreciate the different angles you can approach the runs with, and I dig the addition of Heroic mode for extra challenge.

It's tough (impossible) to please everyone. On one hand, I see people who pour countless hours (and likely dollars) into the game, diving into competitive play, working on the meta, collecting every card, who see this as a waste of their time and resources, and hey, that's how they view their Hearthstone experience, and I respect that. I see others who thrive on solo content, who love Dungeon Run, and other modes that offer challenges that you can't find on ladder or in Arena. This is for the latter, highlighting an aspect of the game that is often forgotten, fun for the sake of fun.
I remember countless hours playing Goldeneye 64 with my friends, and you didn't earn anything, it was for fun. Exploring the worlds of the Witcher, Final Fantasy, the early Halo's gave no tangible rewards, they were just fun for the sake of fun. Some players aren't content with that, which is fine, but there are countless others who are, and this mode is exciting in that aspect. Plus, you get 15 packs in the process, which might not please the guy who battles his way to the top of legend each season, but to my wife, who doesn't care about competitive play and just enjoys the Hearthstone world and gameplay, diving time and time again into Dungeons, its a nice bonus. Asking for compensation to include this mode, either through money or in game currency is understandable and expected. I'm excited for the mode, these modes are fun to me. No cards are locked away behind this content, compared to previous adventures, so it really is optional, and I'm excited for it.

Whew, your negative energy is far more telling of your comment than any state the game could be in. If you hate it, why do you play it? If you play it, why are you playing something you hate? If you don't actually hate it, why are you THIS negative? I'm being serious, there's too much great content in video-games out there and never enough time, you should be spending your time pursuing something you enjoy, and if you don't, there's nothing wrong with letting it go. Festering in negative energy isn't healthy, regardless of how it makes you feel to share that negative energy with others.

With the return of so many iconic Hearthstone villains this set, is it safe to assume that Reno and our favorite adventuring company may be returning to foil their plans in the next set? Also, from a design standpoint, what are the challenges you face in balancing lore versus gameplay? Example, the Lich King in the Warcraft universe is obviously more powerful than his 8/8 reflection in Hearthstone, but his card design was well balanced, capturing his feel without being too overpowered.

So many of these cards (of ALL rarities!) have effects with such a wacky variance in how they can be applied that I'm not just excited for standard play, but also for arena. I think for the first time in a LONG time, it will feel like a brand new game and meta in all modes, which is refreshing.
