Anyone still interested in this deck should take note that Twilight Guardian is strictly better than Twilight Drake and should be swapped. Also, I'm using my Chillmaw over Dr. Boom. Still good, still winning.
And how does Justicar or Alexstrasza synergize with Varian any better by your logic ? You suggested he replace a battlecry minion because it has a battlecry with another battlecry minion, lol
I was done, hes still going lol. His post was condescending and sought to belittle me but I should not have been provoked. I apologize for that to anyone reading. I meant for this to just be a discussion about standard control warrior in tgt.
Anyway, does anyone have feedback about the list up top (Its updated)? Want to share what youll be running and testing ? Im curious if anybodys using Baron Geddon right now
Yea I updated the list and played a few more games, this is a lot better, I wanted to make it where Varian was the wincon and the lineup of legendaries were picked around him but this is def better. Facing a lot of control warrior and aggro paladin today so Harrison is back in. Still not sure about the 6 mana space, Sylvanas is locked in but besides that Im not sure about Justicar vs Emperor, or if possibly Justicar AND Emperor is better at the loss of 1 Shieldmaiden, gonna play around with that part of the curve. Would appreciate suggestions. Of course, the meta is going to be in flux for a while as the expansion shakes out and people figure things out, but im hard at work trying to be ahead of the game on that.
And Im done with the little drama in this thread, that was petty. Sorry about that.
I agree with the OP. Behavior in this thread is uncalled for.
On-topic: it looks ok. I like the fact that you put in the legendaries that maximize use out of Varian (no battlecries), however the exclusion of Alex somewhat worries me. SHe's what enables you to nto care about the opponents health at all and if you draw varian extremely late, this just looks like a less consistent ctrl warrior vs. other control decks.
I think the deck is decent vs. aggro, especially with bash/shield slam etc. I'd take it for a spin but EU servers are poopy for me, let me know how the matchups go.
Yea thats my concern as well, main reason I made a thread to try and refine it. It seems like the win condition here is mostly attrition, ive mostly just had opponents concede once they realize theres no way I can ever die even if we go to deep fatigue. I did pick up a win off of playing Varian right on 10 with Rag already on the board, the only time ive got to play him so far, and I pulled a spell, a Belcher and Ysera. But it definitely looks like thats inconsistent so I def feel you. Thanks for solid feedback. So, theres 2 options I can immediately think of:
1. I can put Alexstrasza in and simply run the risk of pulling her with Varian, which can be fine if Im fairly sure theyll stick, because the two of them represent the 15 damage Alex deals with her battlecry anyway. This idea is sort of why I didnt put her in in the first place tho, a successful Varian can take somebody out from 30 health and above in a few turns just like Alex can, but youre correct about this being weaker in terms of consistency. Its just pretty fun! Lol
2. I can leave Alexstrasza out to keep slamming Varian nice and clean and instead include proactive threats earlier in the curve like Piloted Shredder, to be more able to have face damage dealt already going in to late game.
Are you kidding ? Hes the one who caught feelings towards me as if I claimed I invented a new deck then went on about how he has some duty to push the envelope as a *trumpets* Warrior Main. That was a douchey ass post, excuse me for treating it like one.
I get that its just 2-3 TGT cards but its about how the rest of the deck changes around them. My thread has validity and I wont just get "schooled" by some nerd who thinks it doesnt.
I didnt claim to be innovative, I just wanted to get opinions and talk about the new direction for the standard build. Whether or not to use Justicar, Alex, 2 Brawls, what tech choices, validity of Sparring Partner/Black Knight, etc. Yes this is standard but there are intricacies to discuss. [removed] Go open your thread and get out of mine.
No current competitive hunter deck runs real card draw. The curve is so consistent that it tends to be unnecessary, also Mad Scientist and Webspinner (not in this deck but ill still mention it) can be thought of as card draw in a sense
What about mech yeti ? 4 mana is crowded but its a big body and spare part. Maybe put in Mech Yeti for Toshley then pull the Kezan for something else.. Also I suppose with Mech Yeti youd need to probably pull out Counterspell since youre handing them something to proc it with
no boom and no mark. This list is more consistant, and games are shorter. The other one can drag the game a bit longer. This one is more face, the other is more card advantage.
That decklist is basically fullface.jpg with 2 highmanes + loatheb to get some options.
I don't think you know what list I'm talking about, I'd link it if I wasn't on my phone. Chakkis hybrid hunter curves lower than this, no boom or mark there either. Look up tempo storm meta snapshot 25 and look at the hybrid hunter list they have in tier 1 that's what I'm referring to. It doesn't even have highmanes, it curves out at shredder and loatheb
I use Argus too, but I cut a Belcher not Loatheb. Loatheb does a lot of work protecting strong board states to seal up games. I would not cut it for any reason. Currently rank 3.

I dont think having a flamestrike weakens the Patron match up, rofl. Like did you even think about that before you said it

Why would there be molten giants dude ?

What advantage does this have over Chakkis hybrid list ?
