posted a message on "The Caverns Below" is getting nerfed

An interesting nerf - it slows down the deck a bit, because you need to find that extra combo piece.

I think that it actually does little to make the deck worse against control match-ups - yeah the deck will probably go down in winrates, but I don't think it will go down that much. However this nerf makes the deck even worse than it is against aggro - now it's basically an auto-concede in every case. But the deck was already very bad against aggro and still players wanted to play with it.

That might mean that the deck will drop in its winrate, but will continue to be popular. Do note that people play stuff like Pirate Warrior or some zerg decks because they deliver fast games. While the win rate of many control decks is similar to their aggro counterparts, players lean towards the faster decks and Combo Rogue is a fast deck.

posted a message on Jade-N'Zoth-C'Thun-Reno Rogue a.k.a. Frankenstein Rogue

So last week I've reached my monthly goal in standard (rank 5) and decided to have some fun with the game for a change. So i crafted a couple of rogue legendaries and started experimenting.

After some initial adjustments I've ended up with the list below. I'm pretty sure there are several things to tweek here and there, but I think the deck is ready for other people to take it for a test drive, so I'm curious what's your opinion on the deck.

I'll admit, thus far I think I used C'Thun only once, but the deck seems more fun with it. If you're aiming for some competitive ranks I'd cut the C'Thun package. Barnes is also iffy, but fun.

posted a message on HOw does Ramp win against hunter?

Most decks have some sort of hard-counter, if you are facing lots of unfavourable match-ups, choose another deck. When you'll move up the ladder, the match-ups you're facing will change and again you will change your deck.

Hunter currently isn't considered a tier 1 deck, so there certainly are parts of the ladder where Hunters are sparse.

"Oh, not quite what you asked for?"

The effect is pretty powerful, but the downside can be even greater. This card doesn't win games on its own, quite the contrary, but with the right tools could be a game changer.

It's a combo / control oriented card. On 10 mana you can combo this with Lord Jaraxxus for an immediate health stabilization, you can also combo this with cards giving immunity to your hero.

It's pretty interesting that discarding cards can actually help you lower the overall life cost.

Nope. Unless the minions have some flavor to them like Animal Companions, this is overall a decent card at best. We have the neutral 5 mana 4/4 + 2/2 and it's not constructed worthy, we have the Druid 4 mana 3/3 + 2/2 and it's not that great. This card is a bit better than those, but still way too costly and inflexible to become staple.

People will play it. It will win some games, but it shouldn't make its way into the refined lists.

It's an ultimate control card. It expands the volume of your deck, provides unforeseen threats and moreover assures that your opponent won't have enough removals to clear everything. In a control vs control match-up it's a dream card - a formidable body that gives you a lot of value.

But it has one weakness it can corrupt your draw - playing control is all about having answers at the right time. And when you do not have them, you have cards that help search for the answers. It's a crucial part of the archetypes overall strategy - both against aggro and control. This card hinders that effort. Elise is good because you can control when and what cards will change into legendaries - you have a strategic choice. With this card you control nothing.

And actually - it's great that it's not a battlecry effect - think about it. That wouldn't make that much difference to control classes and it would make a world of difference to aggro decks. If this was a battlecry card, it would instantly become a ZOO staple.

Pretty strong, has potential but It's semi-redundant with other powerful cards that already aren't seeing that much play due to their cost (Cabal and Kodo).

Yes, the fact that it's not random and can target 3 attack minions  means a lot, but it's also a conditional card that costs a lot of mana. Preferably you want to kill mid-range cards with it, not aggro, cause aggro is all about tokens and very cheap stuff.

Unless meta becomes all about mid-range decks like Dragon Warrior (this card kills "itself" and kills the taunt dragon), this card will probably become limited to being a tech choice for tournaments / higher ladder tiers. It's definitely powerful but it's applications are pretty narrow, unless...

Dragon Paladin becomes a thing. This is a strictly better Kodo for a control Paladin, but needs several dragons to be consistent. At the other hand a consistent Kodo isn't the only thing that Control Pally misses, so it's not up to this single card to make the deck work.

Finally due to Tirion, control pallies are skewed towards N'zoth, not drakes. Ideally they'd need a card that fits both the dragon and deathrattle theme - like Chillmaw, only smaller.

posted a message on New Legendary Card - Moroes

At this point there's nothing that salvages this card and I don't believe there will be because of one reason - everything that synergizes with this card, will also synergize with other token generators, and we're already seeing loads of tokens - synergizing with this guy would make token decks broken OP.

It's only hope is that there's some sort of a "double" card, that interacts strictly with Moroes. Maybe then there's some combo potential. But the double card needs to be insanely strong, like +3/+3 buff on both Moroes, or +2/+2 every turn. And still it would be awkward just because the combo card would probably be also a legendary.

Without a card like that Moroes is just bad. There are loads of token generators in HS and Moroes by itself is just weak compared to them. Besides that - he dies to the cards that are used against tokens themselves - and meta in the last year or so is all about killing off tokens.

Unless there's some synergy we yet do not know of, this card is abysmal tier.

Insane with any deathrattle minion, therefore insane in Hunter. And people will try to be even more creative with it. Meta-defining.

This is just one of "these" cards.

It has decent stat-line and very interesting text, that potentially could even let you build a deck around, but... You won't. You'll either end up having 2-4 discard cards and a low probability of using them when MI is in play, or you'll have to use cards that are actually bad when MI isn't in play.

Though this card is actually good enough to be used in zoo and maybe it will spawn some sort of more aggressive, demon-centered variation of the deck, that runs double Soulfire, double Doomguard, though I don't see that being very likely.

Surely it will see some experimentation. But this card is far from being meta-defining - unless Blizzard reveals two other discard-synergistic high quality cards

     The value :D
Here's my take on this brawl. I'm surprised that I'm seeing so few people play stuff like Mountain Giant and Twilight Drake.

posted a message on New Hunter Card - Desert Camel

This card works only in very specific meta - the game has to slow down enough so that most decks do not run 1-drops, because if you get an aggressive 2/1 and the opponent gets a 1/3 that synergizes with his cards/hero power and he gets to attack with it first, you're in a heap of trouble. It's also bad in an aggro vs aggro scenario, cause the opponent gets to act first and you've spent 3 mana on a weak minion. This will only work if the meta slows down significantly so that most decks use no more than a single 1-drop minion and you're playing mid-range hunter with hunted creepers. Though even then I'm not sure if it's worth it.

In arena probably most decks won't have that many 1-drops so the effect is beneficial to Hunter and the 2/4 beast body isn't all that terrible.

posted a message on New Druid Card - Raven Idol

What does this card do exactly? For 1 mana you replace a card in your hand with a card of your choosing from a random set of 3 cards that are otherwise restrained by their type. So this card by itself does not generate value, does not generate tempo and does not generate card advantage. It offers you flexibility at a cost of 1-mana and at the risk of getting a card that is below average.

In the arena this is above average, but not that strong. You get to choose a card during the game, but you may get to choose between cards that are useless or useless in your situation. If you are forced to pick from useful but sub-optimal cards, you're still loosing tempo. In arena you can afford to get a below average card, in constructed the cards played are expected to have top-tier value.

This pushes me towards thinking that this card will see some experimentation in constructed, but ultimately fits only in slow controlling builds or maybe in some mid-range builds that wish to run many spell synergies or focus on being extremely flexible.

Anyone who tried playing Lock and Load knows that even hyper-efficient but random card draw can't be compared to drawing from your own deck.

posted a message on New Druid Card - Mounted Raptor

Interesting. The obvious comparison is Piloted Shredder but the more accurate is Harvest Golem. Harvest Golem isn't played any more due to two facts.

1: 2/3 can't trade up or even help in even trades
2: 2/1 is easy to ping of

3/2 is way more aggressive so the card should be straight up better than the Harvest Golem, though that doesn't mean it will make the cut. It feels like it might fit in aggro deck centered around sticky minions. I'm not sure if the Beast tag will matter for druids in the nearest future but it may later down the line.

However the Beast tag will definitely matter for hunters, this is actually another good minion to get from a Webspinner and similar effects.
