I played little bit Arena recently and usually i get to 4-6 all the time and my main Classes in Arena are Mage,Druid,Paladin and Priest. Now the last 2 Arena runs were with Warlock and i hit the first time 11-0 with a pretty good Warlock deck (without many epic´s and no legends) and the second run was 7-3. Now i wonder if it was just luck or is Warlock really great in Arena? It sounds pretty obvious since i had great results with warlock but i´m still not sure on which class i should focus in arena
As long as you avoid Warrior, Shaman and Hunter, which are subpar, any of the other classes can be good. I personally prefer Rogue, but as long as you draft consistently and like the class playstyle, you're good to go with any of them.
I actually never (except 1 time) had luck with a Rogue draft, every run was 0-3 wins at the best. I saw kripp with a terrible Rogue deck going 10+ wins or something like that. While i got destroyed with a pretty insane rogue deck once (3-3 was the result)
Anyway, Rogue's all about tempo. you generally want to fight aggresively for the board early on making favorable trades. Cards like Sap, Vilespine Slayer and Envenom Weapon are a must to help you build a board. It's not really beginner's friendly, I'll give you that. When I was starting I personally liked Mage a lot more for the spells.
i mean´t 0 - 3 wins while 3 wins was the best result (sorry my english is pretty bad). Jeah i know but the problem on my Rogue runs was that i NEVER got Scalebane,Bonemare (while almost everyone i faced had these) or Vilespine. I feel like Rogue is pretty weak compared to other classes if u don´t draft good tempo cards right? I mean Rogue doesn´t really have board clears so u have to get good tempo cards to get a advantage over slower decks.
My Paladin runs were pretty solid but never really good enough to get 7+ wins.
Nah, Warlock is very nice in the Arena. I didn't play that mode much, but some time ago (3 weeks, or something) I've decided to give it a go and actually made more gold, than I've had before. Had 3 Warlock runs and got 5, 6 and 7 wins. The key is to get as many Dreadlords and Bonemare's as possible, as that 3x Despicable Dreadlord board is just crazy.
My 11-0 run (until i lost to 3 extremly lucky opponents) was with 2 Dreadlord´s and 1 DOOM!/Twisting Nether. These cards pretty much carried me all the way to 11 wins. The deck was in general pretty insane with crazy demon synergy.
If you draft low, it's almost impossible to have a bad run as warlock. The key is really to have a frontloaded deck, with only a few late-game cards, if any.
Okay i´ll try Rogue next time. Can i post here in the Arena section my draft so i get opinions about my choices? is this a thing?
Yes, ppl do that and they usually get a positive response, so dont be affraid to do the same ;-)
About WL, it got some serious boost in KFT (Defile, Despicable Dreadlord, Drain Soul, Unwilling Sacrifice) and since WL was/is mainly played as an early tempo deck or almost aggro deck, he very much enjoys the curvestone meta with cards like Cobalt Scalebane or Bonemare. That being said, its still one of the "average" classes and very much draft dependant, either on curve or card quality, since your main advantage is your hero power and if u cannot Tap, ur just playin a warrior without weapons basically.
Btw playing Rogue is a bit different than playin the other classes, most decks r very much tempo based given how cheap and efficient rogue cards r for that and you often times end up in a single digit health numbers when u finally turn the board state or win ... its not entirely easy to get into such mindset and being affraid to trade with your hero power can cost u tempo by saving some health (tho overtrading like an idiot can cost u a game as well, u need to realize when it is worth it and when it is not) and then the game escapes from u even faster. This is a big generalization of the process, its a bit more complex than that and can vary in each game, but if u r willing, rogue is a good class to learn, i had my reservations at first back in a day as well, since i never liked playin rogue in constructed and it was hard for me to get into this mindset for arena, but it paid off, now rogue is my best performing class basically :)
Warlock feels really awesome if u get the removal and sick minions lick dreadlord (sometimes even better than a scalebane)
I really enjoy playing Warlock especially as Nemsy even doe her golden frame is bugged...
Arena is also not only about what class performs the best on paper, but how comfortable are u playin said class, so if u like to play WL and know what can u afford at certain stages of game with the class, it most certainly can project into a positive win rate as well ;-)
In close to optimal situations, warlock and rogue are very similar in their gameplay and hero role in the game: they play aggressively for tempo and buy advantages with their health, only rogue does that in ealy game, while warlock compensates the low curve in mid- and lategame. If the game was slightly less vomitstone-y and getting an early advantage wasn't as decisive of a factor, warlock would actually be better, because warlock has two main ways to win in arena. Warlocks have extremely efficient aoe tools to catch your opponent off-guard and fight back on the board, while rogues are pretty much dead if they lose the board advantage (with fringe cases where you did enough face damage and can close off the game with direct damage). Clearing an early board with Hellfire and playing a 1- or 2-drop has been a staple comeback turn for warlocks since launch.
However, arena is mostly vomitstone, and tempo is king. And because rogues have a more reliable tempo toolset, they are better than warlocks on average. And average is what matters. Still, you do get those FeelsGoodMan runs with lock sometimes, and it's certainly not the worst class at the moment.
What do u guys thing about Warlock in Arena when the expansion hits? Voidlord , Vulgar Homunculus and Kobold Libarian seem to be extremly nasty. Voidlord give´s u a huge taunt wall and the other 2 are just insane 1/2 drops. On the other side Rogue get´s Elven Minstrel, Fal´dorei Strider and cheat death.

Librarian and Homunculus r most definitely top tier picks and will also help you trigger the spellstone, which i imagine will be quite a good card as well. Voidlord is not a bad card, but its "just" a big taunt that can be hard removed like any other big drop and might backfire. It will be a premium outcome from Bane of Doom for sure tho.
If you are interested in how KAC cards might perform in arena, check out Kobolds & Catacombs: Arena Impact for our initial thoughts on the matter ;-)
Jeah Warlock will definitely be very strong in arena. The reason why i really like Voidlord in Arena is because he would survive almost every board clear warlock has, and before u play something like hellfire u can do a value trade with him and íf he dies u will get 3 sticky taunt minions who will most likely survive until ur next turn and give u scalebane, bonemare value.
I´m really excited to see how it will work out with arena!
@Sinti i saw that post, very interesting to see opinions about every card from expierienced arena players, thumbs up!

I mean yeah, Voidlord is definitely a premium stalling tool and WL can most definitely use a card like that, but Spreading Plague is another powerful stalling tool and in the end, it usually doesnt help the druid either, it just buys him a turn or two and if he was f** before, he is likely f*** still. WL does have more AOEs availible than druid tho, so that could be factored in, but playin 9 mana for one minion can backfire a lot of times. Sap is a thing, Polymorph is a thing, Shadow Word: Pain is a thing and all this happens very very often. Im not saying Voidlord is a trash tier card and it will most likely perform just fine, im just not that excited about it since big drops that do "nothing" r usually just a fodder for (hard) removal.
Ur right. I´m excited to see how everything will turn out in arena. Most of the time if the opponent has hard removal like polymorph it got used before turn 9 so at this point it´s mostly just about top decking it... but jeah ur totally right if it get´s polymorphd or silenced it´s a reaaaaaaaly bad thing.
Warlock's becoming my favourite Arena class (second to Priest) since the micro-adjustment patch. Rogue and Paladin used to be stronger but got hit a bit with the nerf bat, I imagine they're a bit more equal now. Doesn't help that Rogue is the hardest class to play in Arena.
Librarian and Homonculus will be crazy strong for them with KaC too - don't think Voidlord will have much impact - but those two, phew.

I actually just made an arena deck for warlock.
i was going to get up to 2 losses and get the KandC pack on friday.
warlock in not weak at all it has great cards like Dreadlord, Mortal coil, Abyssal enforcer, drain soul, hellfire etc etc
HOWEVER rogue and paladin are better atm than it.
it all depends on the draft tbh.
Okay i´ll try Rogue next time. Can i post here in the Arena section my draft so i get opinions about my choices? is this a thing?
