Reading comments/posts on this site has become very boring in my opinion. As some people mentioned several times already in other threads, there are almost no interesting discussions here anymore, just people complaining about the game, calling names and insulting each other. Don't get me wrong, other Hearthstone-related forums suffer from the same disease or much worse, but Hearthpwn was supposed to be special, at least to me.
Is there any way to bring back the spirit of the old days? What do you think? Bringing back card discussion threads could help, since posting in the comment section is very different than doing so in a forum thread (for several reasons), but probably that wouldn't be enough. Maybe a new kind of thread or forum section? I don't know...
No there no way to do that, and quite frankly, Im glad. I gave 4 solid years to thius game and fell for the idea that it was a skill based game when its clearly not.
Stremers are leaving the game in droves lately too. Most because its just not fun anymore, and its so RNG focuse that playing it for 30 minutes is a chore.
This game has crossed a point of no retiurn regarding the power creep/RNG fiesta, that a return to good old days just wont happen.
The state of the game directly correlates to the quality of the posts on Herthpwn, and thats why you so much complaining in posts.
The charm is gone, and Hearthstone is exposed for what it really is...gambling disguised as a competitive game. Dopamine hoits from high rolls, top decks, Golden legendaries and turn 5 wins are the only things keeping people playing, new players not withstanding ofd course. It usually take at leasdt a year before the magic of HS wears off.
I think the future success of forums discussing HS will depend on the state of the game.
I've said it before. The problem at the moment is that there's not a single deck that's fun to play against. The game loses it's fun when there are such swing and rng turns that most decks can't recover. Most decks can't recover from their whole field getting pyroblasted, most classes can't deal with a field full of glowflies or clowns, control decks can't deal with tickatus.
When playing the game stops being fun, people seek fun elsewhere.

After playing some Classic, it's clear HS wasn't any more skill testing back in the day.
This has honestly been a trend for many years, and it started even long before the change of ownership.
I have done some pretty serious attempts at making activity here, but demanding nerfs and complaining about decks, cards, the whole meta or whatever else just seems to be what make people read threads and post.
One very big problem might be that forum websites could be a format of the past. I am not entirely sure, but I feel a lot of the more interresting discussions about the game now take place on Reddit, Twitter, Discord or in YouTube videos.
Since this post got taken serious and only good answers I have to make a useless one just to prove that this forum is corrupted like me and tciktakus.
Most user like me are frustrated how HS delevops. Also there are cards you can't judge if not played by urself/against you. But HS gains money and popularity if we talk about it. I actually think the meta is made to frustrate lol....
Edit also I wouldn't wonder if there are many who are just addicted to HS and not much more, like me. I don't got much money, I never play casino and my account is worth enough to not deinstall without selling lol
Definitely. There are at most, a few hundred people online at once. There is a mere 66 online at the time I am typing this.
There used to be tens of thousands online 3-4 years ago or so in the Ben Brode days.
Most of the sub-forums are dead, no discussion to be found.
The user-created decks part of Hearthpwn used to be decent, now it's crammed with meme decks and people get actual stats from HSReplay, TempoStorm ect.
It's not just exclusive to Hearthpwn, I have witnessed several boards become barren as Discord and Reddit become the go-to platforms for discussion.
I don't like it. I prefer old style forums with avatars and signatures ect.
And let's face it, Hearthstone as a game is long past its peak.

Also, which streamers have left recently?
I think you touch a good point about the game being practically the same back then as now. When new players start out their HS journey, the first couple years are up hill battles to win games, build a collection and get a deep understanding for the game. That gives the illusion that skill really matters etc..and that its not really about who draws what cards in which order.
As far as streamers leaving, I have seen alot either switch modes to BG/Arena, and or start streaming other games alot more often. Recently, DMoney made a tweet about switching it up becuz of RNG and not having fun etc....The game does lose its charm after awhile, but most games do.
The game isn’t the same as back then… the difference is that it has “matured” from blizzards perspective… all these years they collect data so the algorithm is much more sophisticated with the ultimate goal of more $$$$ for them
also the frustration that it causes players these days is so much worse compared to the early days, again due to the game “maturity” and the tens of psychologists employed to play with players brains.
One thing to note is that its between expansions which is a stagnant period. The forum becomes more lively when they start revealing new cards for the next expansion.
There are different reasons that this site became a little boring. One thing is the community and the constant complaining. That‘s not fixable from the site owners. BUT what is also missing is the articles i initially came to this site in the first place. Where are the card design competitions??? I used to love creative card designs from the communtiy. Why are there no such articles anymore. All articles are grandmasters, which i dont care about and collections of deck lists, which i check from time to time but are also boring to read most of the time.
Edit: the „Best Duels Moments“ are a nice idea for a new type of posts on the main site. But since i don‘t really play duels i cannot relate to those situations and is not really that entertaining to me

Sadly, that's very probably true. :(
This forum is f..king doomed! :(
There must be a way, guys, seriously. We can't let Blizzard decide our beloved forum's fate!

Edit edit FU***** ROPERS!
Hearthpwn felt like the only forum there was back then, I rather talk in a specific forum or a YouTube video.
Reddit and Twitter is a big shithole

Here’s a relevant post about wow - same strategy as HS: https://ackadia.com/psychology/evidence-blizzard-are-playing-psychological-mind-games/?amp
An unfortunate side effect of creating a space where people gather and discuss a single topic:
You eventually run out of things to talk about.
please don't bully my son
