So I recently got my wife to start playing Hearthstone and she just got Jaina to level 20 to make her eligible for Tavern Brawl.
She can't play this brawl.
She tried to make a shaman deck, but after putting every card she had available in her deck, it was only 24 cards. Her other classes had the same problem. Nice job by Blizzard to make sure new players feel included.

Old school WoW Mage motto: if you don't end the run with the most damage dealt AND the most deaths, you're not trying hard enough.
these things happen. cant make everybody happy all of the time. Im sure there will be brawls in the future she is better equipped for and as time progress she too will amass a collection that enables her to partake in any and every brawl. Blizzard does its best to find a middle ground to accommodate all players.

Just an ordinary guy trying to live an extraordinary life. Oh and make decks along the way for funsies.....^_^
Yeah, this was a one and done for me. Not because I didn't like it, but because I got so many rare and powerful cards at this point I can make a badass deck. So I'm not gonna subject other players to my monster collection.
hmm yea, kinda biased against some of the classes but maybe good to try out the rest like Rogue, Hunter or Mage for a free pack. That's good enough motivation for me to play another class these couple days.
Just go warrior heavy weapon. I made one with that and crushed it. Priest is a guaranteed loss but it works ok against the other classes. That being said...it changes every week. Its creative, innovative, constant new content. I think we should give blizzard a pass on this one. There will be other brawls.
It only takes 4~6 commons or so to play this Brawl; I don't really think it's unfair that not EVERY player can play it, especially when Blizzard has stated Brawls aren't for newer players (hence the level 20 cap) and there's still plenty for her to do.
(Also, as quick head's up, Rogue and Warrior fair slightly better - with 26/30.)
Guys why are you so mean... and unsurprisingly stupid? This is simply a bad design, a player who qualifies to participate in a brawl can not possibly enter it, not even by including totemic might or whatever. The reason legendaries are so strong is mainly because of lack of high cost minions in the game overall, that's why they printed North Sea Kraken after all. There is a very limited set of basic high cost minions, and craftable ones are mostly too expensive. The complaint of the thread creator is legit, what would you say if one of the ranked seasons was unavailable for once for all the players, who have at least one hero reach lvl 60? You would come here and create a complaint thread! And guess what kind of response would you've gotten? "Meh, I've always been playing casual anyway, you should try it out sometime, you can't expect to play one game mode forever. Stop considering yourself the centre of universe, we can't satesfy everyone every season, duh". Stop being dicks.
I agree that this is indeed a valid complaint. The restriction of 7+ mana is heavy for new players without legendaries and much cards because most basic cards do not pass this limit. It puts a clear limit on the type of deck you can play, as it disables most tech cards and fun, interactive low-mana minions. The only type of deck this can push for is spell-based mage with a lot of late game minions, and potentially paladin with a lot of buffs for token interactions. My point is, it is a very difficult deck for new players to play because there is a clear lack of late game minions outside of legendaries. However, I also agree that you should give Blizzard a breather. This is their 42nd brawl, and they plan to make hundreds more; not every one of them is going to be able to please everyone. It's very unfortunate for your wife, but missing one of hundreds more brawl to come isn't going to hurt her too much.
It really does suck she can't compete in this tavern brawl. I think there's a limit to how much scaling blizzard can do to all Brawls in order to accommodate everyone. You do still have a few more days to attempt and unlock more cards. Good luck, and sorry :(

If you're happy and you know it... well that's good :)
Try looking how Many bigdrops she has to find Out how Many spells she needs. Maybe she van manage to get to lvl 20 on that class in time. Maybe with your help ;)
I think the best class for someone with little to no legendaries. Would Be priest, cause thoughtsteal And mindcontrole (mc you get from leveling And thoughtsteal is common). Just did my first brawl with priest. Was quite an easy win, but that s Not how statistics work. Try to Keep her interest up. I can Imagine it beeing frustrating. It s Not only that it s hard for someone to put a Deck together.i think the stronger decks of this brawl also require a shitload of dust Making it very hard to get your pack for New players. And that Are the People who actually need the free pack. This one definitly Is a Bad brawl.
maybe you can introduce her to Arena this week, you should help her build the decks. Otherwise it Will Be Short runs.
I mentioned a while back ago when Tavern Brawl became a thing that they should just focus on brawls that had pre-made decks like Spiders, Rag vs Nef, Randomonium etc.... Those kind of brawls are better for newer players that dont have a deep collection to play around with.

Absolutely true, i agree with you Caddage. Same bad situation here with my friend that started to play HS since few days and so don't have many cards. The only way to let him play his brawl was DE some useless cards and crafting one spell and one 7+ mana minion. They didn't thought about new players and this is bad. They should be helped a little imho, the game for who start now can be really hard. FeelsBadMan

Peace, love and good weed. Even just tons of good weed can be enough, thanks!
Some people don't have enough cards to make a deck with ANY class for this brawl, and they feel that crafting some stuff just to fill the deck is not worth it.
It's pretty selfish to think that every new brawl should be made with a limited collecion in mind. Wonder what you're going to demand next; make heroic adventure bosses easier because you dont have lightwell/mass dispel/some other otherwise useless card to beat them...?

I think mage have enough spells to play this.. Just try to play esportal and hope for something.. Or maybe druid can do it..

On NA/EU I'm f2p with a very small card pool, and I can't play the brawl as well :/ Too bad, on Asia I've had fun with some weird decks.
Try looking how Many bigdrops she has to find Out how Many spells she needs. Maybe she van manage to get to lvl 20 on that class in time. Maybe with your help ;)

Comparing Not beeing able to Do a tavern brawl And you beeing to bad for legendrank is not valid.
1.) you beeing to bad for legendary Is Not blizzards fault
2.) you can Play ladder. Playing Rank 25 Is the Same As playing legend
3.) there Is a difference between Not beeing able to Do sth And Not having the oppurtunity to even trying
Peace, love and good weed. Even just tons of good weed can be enough, thanks!
Spoiler alert:
There are 9 classes in Hearthstone

Try a class with lots of weapons (Warrior) fill up on those and mostly spells, you don't need many minions to get a win or two.
