too much rng in these cards, thank god they're slow as fuck so probably wont be played too much. what's up with blizzard and rng? isn't it enough? it's getting a little bit annoying , at least for me.
For Blizzard maybe. So in that case, and from their perspective, this is relevant information, Joust is not fun, and is bad, but even if it were good it's not fun. Inspire IS fun and feels very rewarding when you can take advantage of it. Thoughtfully playing your minions to get the most out of inspire, or even if making an inspire play that turn is correct is fun. You get options and have to think about those options. Many lines of play = fun for me anyway. Unfortunately joust is pure RNG, and I am willing to admit that it could be much better in a deck made for jousting, but that is the ONLY place those cards will belong. Additionally I have my doubts to their effectiveness even in such a deck but I am willing, even hoping to be wrong. I am ready for new deck types that are not merely for funsies.
The problem with Joust, which is a problem most seem to have seen once the mechanic was announced, is that ties still count as losses, so even with a slow deck, you're not necessarily going to have great win:loss ratios overall, particularly if the meta slows down in general by any margin. Against mirror decks, your chances of winning jousts is less than 50/50 because of the fact that ties lose. The RNG is iffy enough on its own, but this immediately makes it underwhelming to say the least. The joust effects are pretty decent to good overall, from what I gather, although there are some duds like The Skeleton Knight which I don't find to be particularly useful, even when the Joust wins. But again, it simply isn't reliable even when you make a deck that might ostensibly seem to be good for jousting.
Inspire is much more interesting at the very least, which tends to make it more fun to play with. I've always been intrigued by the Inspire mechanic since I heard about it, personally. I'm not sure how viable it will become though. I think there's certainly some argument to be made for Inspire in specific decks for specific classes, and I think there's a good chance that at least 1 or 2 Inspire themed decks could make some waves, perhaps. But it's difficult to judge it with this Brawl because we're basing these cards and how they're playing in a very controlled, limited environment where, at least from what I gather, one deck is severely lacking, and probably won't resemble anything remotely close to what we'll end up seeing in the meta. So, Inspire may look great in the Brawl, but it doesn't really say much when the opposing deck is incredibly lackluster by comparison. Still, I think there's at least some cause to believe at least a couple of specific classes will be able to take decent advantage of some Inspire cards.
Agreed. I would either like to see Joust win ties, or overall make it less impactful regardless of winning or loosing. If you play Master Jouster it's huge, if play and loose, well now you can't play any other taunt minion cause he is expensive and instead you loose or take a boat load of damage. It's just too critical a swing to leave up to RNG that looses on Ties.
Rather than winning ties, I think ties should just redraw new cards until a proper win/loss is satisfied. This would kinda harken back to an old classic card game known as War.
Hunter deck is completely subpar against the mage.
Mage just has more dominant and tempo cards, not to mention basic inspire cards that don't 100% rely on jousting mechanics.
I thought this at first, but if you can take advantage of lock and load and and ram wrangler it can get out of hand fast. Just have to keep the mage from abusing the hero power mechanics.
Also, the Hunter deck is built to win the jousts more often, so that helps too

The Mage cards have very little RNG. But playing the Hunter deck is basically akin to flipping a coin over and over...
I'm honestly very sad how mage is once again the main hero of the whole expansion. In GvG he had the best theme-synergy minion, blastmage, and this time he has coldara drake, the best inspire themed minion, vanila shenanigan enabler. I really want to play other classes, but it completely outclasses them with fallen hero and drake. I simply don't want to play mage, had enough fun after GvG...

Yeah I noticed that Mage is the primary hearthstone class. You even start out the game as one.
I got mage, only played twice. However the hunter lost every joust, except one (he drew kraken). If they were going to have a hunter joust deck it shouldn't have been made of primarily low cost cards. The mage inspire deck seems to have had much more thought put into it, and was pretty easy to win with.
This brawl has convinced me of the value of inspire decks. Once you gain board control, inspire minions really start to spiral out of control in glorious fashion.
I expected kvaldir raider to be shit, but so far ive lost 2 games to a 10/10 raider and a 12/12 raider (both played on an empty board, followed up by a taunt. Im not THAT incompetent guys.).
And everyone but me thought kodo rider was shit. Whos laughing now? Kodo rider is f'n awesome!

I think the inspire deck is too slow however... I really had fun playing and see some great potential

Honestly the card Lock and Load has definitely been my favorite part of playing as hunter. I feel this card has potential. Lots of it.

Epic tavern brawl, repeating this multiple times.

I'm 0-6 so far, four losses as hunter and two as mage. Safe to say I won't be playing this brawl after I get my win.
pwnage!
LOVE IT! Playing all night until I pass out from exhaustion! Can't wait for the 24th! Yippee love this game sooooooo freaking much
The Lock and Load animation is sick!! I hope there are more things like that.

I just lost EVERY JOUST!!!!!
When i play fail
When enemy play win
OMG, never play that shit anymore.
How is less than 50% chance to win and thus activate the Joust effect in the vast majority of cases not bad?
