Is there a bad matchup for Mech Mage? All of my wins against it tend to be very close. I switch off between Paladin, Warrior, and Druid. Paladin usually gets wrecked by it, while Warrior and Druid for me is more or less 50/50.
Taunt City, or Ramp Druid always seems to destroy my Mech Mage. Same with Control Priest if it dosn't blow all it's removal too early. Warrior's can be a good match-up VS Mech Mage if they're able to get their weapons early too.
It all depends on what the Mage draws early game though. If there's a Cogmaster on the board, followed by a Mech Warper into an Annoy-o-Tron or Mechanical Gnome then it's GG for most classes anyways.
I have a very high win rate against them with my rogue. I mulligan for Blade Fury or deadly poison and take advantage of the fact that they have an awful time rebuilding the board after a wipe. I run a miracle weapon type deck. (Finisher is generally 2x Tinker Oil, swing, and a BF). I am able to control their board and stall them long enough for a sudden combo win on turn 8 or 9. Sap is a great card to have for the Unstable Portal. Nothing like thinking they have a huge creature for cheap on turn 4 or 5 and then bouncing it right back to their hand to completely decimate their tempo.
that pretty much sums up the problem with this season and the GVG patch: opening combos so strong that you can almost never recover from them. Thank god for undertaker nerf, which was the only really generic one that any class could play.
Play Priest and pray you get Circle in your first few cards, Shadow Word Pain helps as well or Shadow Madness. After that you Cabal their good stuff while playing your heavy hitters. Paladin does a pretty good job also. Basically any class with a strong board wipe or one that is equally fast in terms of minion curve.
I am not convinced that Taunt Druid is that good, their AoE is garbage and they usually require Innervates or Wild Growths to do much vs Mech Mage.
i play a lot of mech mage and the classes that give me the most troubles are the following in the order of hardest to the "easiest" and i say "easiest" is because it's a pretty difficult match up.
EDIT (replying to EphemeralSE): Strange, I usually beat mech-mages with my handlock, Ancient Watcher+Shadowflame stop them in their tracks, usually conceding or having their whole play reset, but that's just me, Darkbomb also is a viable option against Snowchuggers or Mechwarpers, as for defeating Warriors, make sure to play Snowchugger as soon as possible, followed by Mechwarper since you're disrupting their Fiery War Axe swings and possibly swarm him on turn 4, the secret against priests are the Tinkertown Technicians and the Piloted Shredders, Mechanical Yetis can work too, everything that has 4 Attack and you're good to go for an easy win
I play midrange Paladin with chows, knife jugglers, and minibots and my win rate is like 70% or something vs Mech Mage. What Paladin deck are you using?
I have a 90% win vs mech mages with molten giants+echo freeze mage
90%? Are you running a version with Antonidas and some burn spells? Or is it purely Giants, also did they know you were playing Echo Giants, there are so many types of Mage running about it's hard to tell what you are facing nowadays.
Yes, taunt druids CAN win, but without wild growth, they are pretty screwed. It's a fun matchup though, where spare parts are instrumetal to make good trades vs. the taunts.
Handlock is also good because of all the AOE and mech mages limited card draw. They usually dont field that many high-damage threats the first turns, so you can actually tap! Just beware of fireball-fireball-frostbolt which every good mage should save for the killing blow.
In 8 matches vs a mech mage, my druid is 3-5.... Still my best ratio of all the classes I play lol, but definitely not good. I use 2 Cubs, a Sen'jin, 2 Sludge Belchers, an AoW, and the two druids of the claw... I just cannot beat mech mage with any class I play for some reason. I guess I just suck too bad.

I've been playing a Mirror Entity MM with polymorph. Haven't had any trouble with Paladins. Priest seems to be tricky. Warrior can be rushed down with Chugga. Handlock seems about 50/50. Freeze Mage seems unwinnable.
I play midrange Paladin with chows, knife jugglers, and minibots and my win rate is like 70% or something vs Mech Mage. What Paladin deck are you using?
Same deck. Every time I lose, it's ALWAYS double fireball to face.

1. Druid
2. Priest
3. Shamman.

Druid is good, and so is Warrior - I rarely use warrior personally, but I had a quest to win 5 with Warrior - and in that 5 I beat 3 Mech-Mage easily.
Druids, Priests, Handlocks..

mfw his Yogg steals my win

Warrior's weapons just crush Mech-Mage minions while still armoring up too strong for MM to take down before they run out of steam.

I made legend using mech mage yesterday.
Druid matchup is pretty easy so long as I get a mirror entity down before they drop anything big.
Warrior all depends on weapons.
Rogue is fairly tough.
Generally though a good start = win a bad start = lose regardless of opponent.

Warrior and paladin are both good if your opponent doesn't get the opportunity to keep freezing your face with Chugga.

Handlock, it does pretty fine against every aggro deck type. Taunt, lot of AoE and tremendous lategame. Enjoy.
Used to be a proud Handlock player.
Legend 17 times.
Still flirting with the ladder from times to times with Renolock.
Taunt-heavy ramp Druid, Freeze Mage, Control Priest and Rogue are pretty good against Mech Mage. Freeze Mage almost hard counters Mech Mage IMO.
Meta changes the moment you switch your deck.
