If your goal is to test the deck, then you should be happy that you get to fight the same decks you see on ladder.
This. Back when I used to play Magic: the Gathering on a highly competitive level, before a big tournament we'd write on commons with Sharpie to make proxy netdecks, and relentlessly test our unique creation(s) against them so we'd work out the kinks and know the matchups inside out. I don't understand how you could consider it real testing if you insist upon unrealistic opponents.

Reminds me of how i hear some HS pro players complain about the meta right after Old Gods. Mostly the fact that it was so mixed and unstable that it was impossible to really plan. Thus you picked a deck and just flipped a coin over whether you faced a good or a bad matchup.
Meanwhile, I'm thinking that the folks who mostly hate the 'same old decks over and over' aren't the highly competitive type.
I'm really confused as to how some people got the impression that Casual was supposed to be some sort of pure and untainted utopia for goofy, experimental, greedy, or otherwise impractical decks. It's a mode in which a player can win and lose, and, even though losing has no consequence, most people will want to win. That's sort of baked into human psychology. That leads to a similar meta to actual ladder, just populated with people who don't want to touch their rank (everything from discomfort with a new deck to testing a new creation or tech choice to plain old competitive anxiety). If you're using it as a testing ground, that actually makes it much better than what people seem to want Casual to be, as it actually, you know, tests your deck against opposition that it will encounter in competitive play rather than a rash of decks completely irrelevant to the actual in-meta viability of your creation. You're not really testing anything other than how your deck draws and clicks when relatively uncontested if you play otherwise, and if you wanted to do that you could play Practice Mode and get the same information.
nobody wan to play bad deck or new random deck in ranked with the risk of drop rank.
While that's not exactly true (a good many actually do use rank for that reason, either because they don't care about the reward chest anymore or they can easily get to rank 5 at any time) the point still stands that for both folks who want to play non-competitive decks AND people who want to test competitive decks Casual is a good go-to for them.
Which lies the problem since both are hitting Play but wanting different things from it.
In the past, I started using Ranked because I had found rank 15 to be more varied and interesting than whatever MMR was putting me in Casual, so I just went Ranked and hung around there and stopped caring about whether I went down or up. If I was playing a bad deck, I'd see my rank drop so I'd face easier and more varied decks. If I went up,it was because my deck was actually viable and I need to start thinking "is this thing actually competitive?" Also meant that if I played a top tier deck I would VERY quickly dip into 10-5 and thus out of the way of the other more casual decks.
Seriously guys, if you aren't actually pushing for rank then TRY just playing in ranked and letting the game sort out where you should be. You really can't want to play a silly or random deck AND be concerned about your win rate. So don't be concerned and just PLAY.
Note that this isn't excusing the problem because this IS a problem that needs to be dealt with, but for now it's an option.
casual being a reflection of what is played on the ladder is a good thing for people who want to use it to test new and innovative decks. it's casual, so why are you going on some babyrage tantrum because you lose? why does it matter so much to you?
Why are you net-decking your t1 deck in casual? Afraid to lose your Rank 15 stars?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
Casual is where people with ladder anxiety go, or those who just want to farm gold and hope to run into "fun" decks. I expect there are a lot of F2P players there since I seem to see a huge amount of Zoo (usually go-to deck for new players).
There is no way for you to make it a "fun deck" only place though, what we really need is more social tools and an in-game option to create your own tournaments and tweak deck rules.

Hahaha but really there is way more netdecking than actual good players. I don't understand why some people just play zoolock but then never make it beyond rank 12. There is no push for legend, no tournaments to compete in, just season after season ranking in the teens and playing the same deck they always play. I guess the only enjoyment they get is from winning a game, not from getting a high rank or playing an interesting deck. I personally feel like fun decks should be for casual but it's really not that fun to go against nothing but aggro shamans with a home-brewed control rogue.
Letting someone else play (child/friend) or teaching someone how to play
Not wanting to play ranked mode
- The same point could be made about you. If you really want to test your new decks then testing them in a competitive setting is best and you should either be doing the tests in ranked, or not complaining about meeting decks you would eventually play in ranked whilst still benefiting from not tanking your ranking.
Honestly the only valid reason I could see someone netdeck in casual is because he wants to learn a deck and that should take no longer than a few games + we have wild. Whenever I make a new deck I instantly queue ranked, so what if I drop a few ranks? If the rank where I was before truly is at my skill level I'll get back there in no time anyway.
People netdecking in casual is just sad anyway, especially when you meet zoolocks and aggro shamans who have the guts to BM you - that's just the lowest of the low. If you netdeck in casual that means you have the cards to make a good enough deck for ladder so doing quests is no excuse either. Anxiety to ladder? Who cares about your rank? You have your chest anyway.
The reason I get so annoyed by these nolifes is because casual is anything but casual anymore. How low can you go to play aggro shaman in casual? That is anything but casual. There isn't a place where you can try out wacky, fun, bad decks without getting demolished by some braindead netdecker.
The way to solve this? No more rewards for casual. No more 10 gold for every 3 wins and quests don't work. There'd still be some braindead shamans and zoolock on there because they need to ''practice'' ''they're scared to ladder'' or simply need to feel good even though they are terrible players, but way less.
nobody wan to play bad deck or new random deck in ranked with the risk of drop rank.
What I find funny (and I'm not assuming anything about your rank) is that most people who say they're afraid to drop ranks are the ones who are somewhere between rank 5 and 20. Honestly, all legend players I know (including me) just queue up a top tier netdeck if they want to play it. Maybe that's also something that's makes for the rank difference: the mentality. If you queue casual everytime you're not 100% comfortable with a deck you're not gonna move forward.
If your goal is to test the deck, then you should be happy that you get to fight the same decks you see on ladder.

See here's my problem. Who cares about your rank? I really don't see a reason to queue up casual to test unless you really are top 500 legend and don't want to drop. If you truly belong on your rank you'll get back there anyway in no time once you start playing the deck you're comfortable with. Why not just queue up ranked? Want realistic opponents? This is as realistic as it gets.
I decided to keep track of the decks I played against in casual over the last 5 days and out of the 46 games I played only 3 of them were not one of the usual decks on ladder. Of those 3 I think only 1 was playing a deck that he actually made judging from how long it took to make some plays and how weird the deck was (it was a pirate paladin). The decks I ran into the most were midrange shaman and dragon warrior with both being seen 11 times each which is almost half of 5 days worth of play...I also played a few games in wild casual with a mill druid and of the 16 games I played I ran into 5 more aggro shamans and 4 c'thun druids which begs the question, why play wild with a standard deck and why play a serious deck in casual?
I don't understand it either. When I was new to hearthstone, I would constantly get stomped in CASUAL mode by the most insane decks. So I decided, fuck it, I probably have a better chance playing ranked and actually facing people my own skill level. I still run into people with insane decks and legend cardbacks (although having insane decks doesn't mean they are good players, it just means they can use their moms credit card. So they are probably around my skill level).
Just play ranked, people. Anyone can go from 25-20. ANYONE. I'm currently rank 16 and I'm a terrible player.
Netdecking transformed a light/casual/fun oriented version of Magic the Gathering into a standardized frustration machine with 10 decks occupying 90% of the ladder at any given time.
First I wanted to reach Legend so I netdecked, and reached Legend. Now I have an almost complete collection with the luxury of creating whatever decks I want, as I'm only interested in reaching rank 5 every season, which is quite easy with the collection I have (and I played MTG, so there's not much to HS I don't get). But to stay around 50% winrate, your imagination and desire to have fun is quickly limited by the reality of the ladder. 1 out of 10 games may bring some enjoyment as I'm not sure by turn 3 which deck I'm facing. Rest of the time, playing against the same decks over and over just makes me negatively happy to crush them.
I'm pretty sure that was the reason they made tavern brawls. Ben Brode is a funny guy and probably realized how bad he fucked up. This game has the karma of a smoking panda killer driving an oil leaking boat over an endangered coral reef.
It's simply not true for Standard Format.
By VS data there are 25 decks which used at 90% of the ladder. Top 10 decks used in 61% of the cases. So the Standard Meta is very versatile atm.

I'll be happy to get that 25 decks list.
Google is your friend, but ok, that's it:
Zoo Warlock
Dragon Warrior
Tempo Mage
Aggro Shaman
C'Thun Warrior
Midrange Hunter
Midrange Shaman
Yogg Druid
Reno Warlock
C'Thun Druid
Miracle Rogue
Hybrid Hunter
Control Warrior
Control Paladin
Pirate Warrior
Other Warrior
Other Hunter
Control Priest
Yogg Hunter
Tempo Warrior
Worgen Warrior
Other Shaman
C'Thun Priest
Beast Druid
Freeze Mage
Actually the meta is even more versatile as 'Other' decks is simply decks VS unable to recognize. May be it's incorrect to add them, but still, I don't think it matters.
I play casual the first games when I play a new deck. But if I wanted to play zoo I would not want to play it in casual because it is a very easy deck to play.
I am so bored and tired of this game right now, that i just need to make this thread, although it probably won't change anything because people are truly assholes...... I understand when you guys play on ladder with your best decks but for Christ sake, stop playing GODDAMN TIER 1 decks on CASUAL! This is a disease, beyond cancerous, not only to new players but to people like me, who just want to have fun, chill and try out new deck archetypes, but unfortunately i can't because i'm usualy dead on turn 6. C'mon guys you are better than this, if you want to win so badly, then go on ladder and play your tempo mages, aggro/midrange shamans, dragon warriors, token druids, etc. If this goes on, new players will abandon the game even quicker. 11 matches on casual today with fatigue warrior, and the score was 2-9, faced 4 aggro shamans, 2 tempo mages and 3 midrange shamans, the games i've won were against priest and a warrior. It's somewhat hillarious because people play on casual, like they are playing on a big tournament with prizes over 10000000000000000$ Guys, it cannot be this way :/ let us, i mean, everyone who play casualy, experience the game at it's fullest, play your tier 1-contested metagame decks on ladder, if you want winning so badly, and to "show off your skills". Leave casual game mode alone. What is the poing of having so many awesome cards, when you can't even try them out? This isn't even funny anymore, and blizzard needs to be aware of this problem and try to solve it.
Sorry for the rant, but i had to, and for my poor english, it isn't my native language.
TLDR; If you want to win every single game using a TIER 1 deck from current meta, with high winrates, play it on ranked NOT on casual.
One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

1. Some play casual for fun decks
2. Some play casual to complete quest and not lose ranked in ladder.
3. Some play casual to tweak one or two cards and check them before going for ladder
4. Some play casual to grind gold by playing aggro decks.
5. Some play casual because they have nothing else to do (like quest, hitting specific rank)
If you face competitive deck in casual while you are playing fun deck, least you can check, "Can this fun deck be competitive or not?"'
casual place to test deck and complete the quest,
nobody wan to play bad deck or new random deck in ranked with the risk of drop rank.
