I am scratching my head as I cannot begin to understand the reasoning behind the new nerfs. So priest gets three of their cards hit but Illidari Inquisitor doesn’t get touched? And Warsong Wrangler is unchanged? And what about toning down or reversing the buffs on even one of the multiple cards that were overtuned for shaman? You’re trying to tell me none of those cards deserves to be tweaked but priest deserves the hits because it performs well in high legend?? Legend is about 0.5% to 1% of all players allegedly so I would love an explanation as to why that playerbase should be catered to as opposed to the other 99%. I’m only playing Rogue, Mage, and Paladin so these nerfs don’t affect me but i cannot fathom the motivation behind the cards they chose.
I think something else is going on with Priest. Vicious Syndicate noticed that there was not a high but significant proportion of players insta-conceding to Priests. This is because you are guaranteed to have 15-20 minute matches with them, which are not fun to the opponent, and players think they can use their time better queueing up to someone else. And insta-concede is probably not what Blizzard wants players to do. It needs to address the class, of course, it's their fault things are the way they are, but nerfing now will a) increase the enjoyment of the game for non-Priest players and b) make room for a new archetype in the new expansion.
And the nerfed cards are still perfectly playable, just not 10+ times in a single game anymore.

Yeah. OP, don't forget there are specific reasons mentioned for the cards getting hit and they ARE valid...they just happen to belong to a class that may or may not be as high on the urgent priority list.
Renew getting hit DOES in fact slow down priest card generation, and renew can now no longer be generated by wandmaker.
Apotheosis was hit so major board clear combos like the spell + plus Samuro couldn't happen.
I agree there are other classes that probably could've had higher priorities to have cards nerfed first BUT at the end of the day those cards are still problems that needed to be addressed. Renew got ran in decks just for the spell generation for god's sake. Did ANYONE run it for the heal? I think not. The heal was just a bonus.

this is the point people continuously miss time and time again. A class or card does NOT have to be Tier 0 in order to deserve adjusting. Watching your opponent have consistent miracle turns with continuous spell generation just isn't fun to play against; period, end of story. It also makes for an unhealthy competitive environment when your opponent's hand is literally composed entirely of generated cards which did not start in their deck so when you lose it feels like shit because you feel cheated and when you win it feels like shit because you didn't earn it.

Oh heavens a 15 minute match amongst aggro fest meta. The horror!
I instacede vs priest, I have 0 interest in sitting there while they heal and generate random cards. Win or lose, it is not fun.
the nerfs are trying to hit a similar effect, concedes on turn 1 or 2. Gibberling could be part of great opening turn by druids which just wasn't worth the time to try to beat, causing concedes on turn 1, and priest is just not worth playing against, causing concedes on turn 1.

you sound like a new player who wasnt around when control decks were the meta. nerfing a tier 4 deck twice when some classes have more than 1 deck in the top 10 is just plain confusing. I totally disagree with your reasoning.
This thread is showing how the social media world has shrunk attenttion spans to the size of a pea! Listen to these kids whine about speding 15 minutes thinking about a game they are playing! Just amazing and doestn bode well for our collective futures.

Thank you for saying this! I agree 100%. I had a player just say to me regarding the Priest nerfs "Priest is OP" which is a meme from the top streamers in high legend. They say that cuz its the only control deck that they lose too occationally. The rest of the players however, Priest is tier 4 , but its a Control deck! The good old days of HS had tons of Control. Its incredible the top decks that really are OP at times, remain untouched. I think it might just be becuz of the low attention spans kids have nowadays!?
I too cannot fathom the logic so it must be an illogical reason, prob to silence the memes cuz those streamers have so much influence in attitudes towards the games we play?

Except you aren't spending 15 minutes thinking about anything. You're wasting 15 minutes while the opponent sits and self touches
What doesn't bode well for our collective futures is you thinking that it's better to burn through your time literally doing nothing rather than actually getting something done
The post by Blizzard clearly states why the cards were nerfed. The meta is very balanced right now, but the playstyle of certain decks is not generally fun to play against. Sorry if you like playing 15-20 minute games back to back to back, but not everyone does. And that isn't a bad thing or a reason to insult someone. Clearly, Blizzard wanted to fix this in preparation for the upcoming expansion and also to stop the significant amount of Turn-1 concedes against priest. This was happening in winnable matchups, seemingly because players did not want to even participate against the class. If they can do something to stop people from not playing their game, that's a good thing.
I don't mind a 15-20 minute game but when it's all abt discover , tonnes of card generation, slow plays...it gets so tiring to just sit and watch them as opponents..priest is worst kind of control
If the issue is with control decks that make games last too long then why would big armor control warrior not get hit but instead be enabled by the mini-set with Kresh? It doesn’t make sense to me. I would think that ideally one would want control decks within a meta but if Control priest keeps getting hit and Control Warlock is an abysmal deck (which also got hit by the hysteria nerf a couple months ago) then it’s armor up or nothing. Meanwhile aggro dodges all nerfs and face hunter remains a top tier archetype as it has been for the better half of two years.
There is a big difference between playing a 20 minute match against most control decks out there and playing against this season Priest, the deck is garbage fire and does very few interactive plays and rely on card generation to win and that you would win anyway.
There was a very similar deck a long time ago with Lyra, where you would win with sheer card generation to everwhelm your opponent, and this deck was actually good and didn't piss off anybody, because it played like a normal control deck with plenty of interaction, had alternative wincons and all their bullshit happened really quickly in a single combo turn with Lyra and Radiant Elementals.
No other class has been nerfed as much as priest. Priest is my favorite class, but blizz should just delete them. Players cried when there was a strong win condition, so they got rid of Raza. Then they cried about combo, so no more face damage with mind blast. Then they cried about Reno effects, so Velen got removed. Then they cried about resurrect spells, which were viable win conditions, so no more rez. Now they are crying because games take too long after nerfing or rotating every single win condition priest has ever had. This is getting ridiculous, especially as the healing, silence and removal portions of class identity get carved up to other classes. At this point, warlock and demon hunter look more like classic control priest decks than priest does now.
