I've tried control warlock, control priest, control warrior. Control priest is "ok", but I still don't feel like back in the days when control was really strong.
Why does control get so little low? Even control priest with its gorillion heals and AoE effects can't keep up with no minion mage, deathrattle demon hunter, face hunter, aggro shaman etc.

Because blizzard doesnt give a shit about lower brackets (their statistics are based on upper legend), and because their design was shit from the start - focusing on aggro every time, as if everyone considers dying by turn 6 fun. And now, people that have played this game for a few years got accustomed to everything being aggro-favored, thus very few complain about it. This is similar to the effect of getting used to an addictive drug and thinking everything is fine(or bad laws, or anything along these lines).
The aggro and midrange decks are just better right now. Midrange decks with lots of strong deathrattles are control killers. But, there are dedicated control players who do well with their off-meta decks.
Actually if it was an aggro meta then control decks would rise in popularity and WR.
But it isn't. It is almost fully a midrange deck meta: Deathrattle DH, Elemental Shaman, Rush Warrior are all midrange decks and they are 3 of the best decks in the game right now
Control priest is one of the hardest decks to master and people hate it, so it is often played poorly and countered excessively.
Having said that you quote Face Hunter that is one of the best MU (in addition to mirror, which if you know how to play well the deck is the best MU, at least until legend)
The Priest 'mirror' is often not really a mirror. Priest decks optimized to destroy aggro will almost always lose the 'mirror' versus the greedier Priest decks. In true mirror matches there is indeed quite a lot of skill involved, but it often comes down to who can play more Southsea Scoundrels (it's not unheard of to play 7-8 in a single match...)
It's because power creep of aggro and tempo (initiative) based decks. 3-4 years ago aggressive decks had limited reach and pool of resources, so if they couldn't kill you by the certain point in the game, they were done. I even remember games, where I was like 5-7 HP, my opponent was 30, and he had to concede, because he had no way to kill me at this point.
Now though, their limitations are mostly gone. Look at the Face Hunter for example, this deck is like 90% made up of cards meant to hurt you and its total damage output is close to 40 (not even counting minion damage and hero power)!
At the same time, the best mass removal in the game is still Brawl (card from beta...), taunts are no longer reliable deffensive tool (it's too easy to get rid of them) and some classes don't have access to reliable heal source. Over the years, Team 5 dramatically increased power level of aggro, while control gained very little to fight back.
Control is more viable in wild imo with Reno and zephyr and zilliax and ways to bring them back
Really? Which ones? Raza priest isa an otk deck, and Big Priest is a "control" deck with both near infinite value and ability to summon 60-mana boards at once on turn 6. I guess Reno mage is control...??
Warlock has been doing it a while. I agree not as strong as faster decks but can def get legend w control warlock and the many Reno variations. Look at home page some dude just got exodia paladin to legend in wild. But yeah way more work but if you enjoy it then time isn't an issue. I suppose you can argue that these are more midrange than control but in wild anything that isn't face tries to control imo
There's not enough strong control minions atms. There's too many strong aggro minions. Look at face hunter, you play control and they still have ways to constantly clear your board and do face damage.
I doubt we will get some strong control cards for the next year, because as soon as some cards appear that drag the meta out a few turns, the game will turn into who can pump out the most clowns in a match.

If hunter's clearing the board, they're not face. Face decks, by definition, ignore the board. In fact, the more hunter clears the board, the more it's actually playing control.
This is one card no one hype about it or think is a big deal, turns out my "favorite go in all my decks card" in this expansion.
5/5 is a pretty decent stat line for 4 manas and get with your opponent the best card in his deck but only him being closer to fatigue and sometimes make him burn a draw is awesome.

Ye, and he should just ignore taunts and lifesteal, because face deck has to go face. Period.

I am playing control hunter and doing 56% at around 2000-3000 legendary. Its a fun deck

The question is a bit weird. Why? Because Blizzard wants so, I suppose.
Sometimes you have control meta and sometimes there is aggro meta. Right now it's fully aggro meta, that's it.
What else to discuss here?

Sorry for my broken english.

As said hunter control lot of fun
I am around the same legend rank as you, deck seems fun. Can you pm me the decklist?

Of course I get the question a lot. So I will post it on the site.

All Wild aggro decks can kill before turn 6.

I won't link warlock but they have tons of Reno and guldan variety
