I've been playing Hearthstone from the very beggining of its existance and ever since then everyone says that "the current meta is so boring...". For example - for like 3 or 4 months Control Warrior dominated the ladder and now when it's gone everyone complains about evolve shaman which entered the meta around a week ago. I realise that the game starts being boring when you see the same decks every day for a long period of time, but there are 2 reasons why you shouldn't complain:
1 It's impossible for Blizzard to make critical changes to the meta every week, because it would require a lot of work and they have many other games apart from HS and it would actually destroy the whole point of the game which is collecting cards, as you would probably never craft anything.
2. Changing the meta every week would make the game unplayable and I personally prefer Hearthstone as it is now.
Conclussion - Meta will always be boring but that's why you should play for fun and not for rank. I personally love trying to make some weird dwcks work even if it costs me going down from rank 6 to 10 😁
Yu gi oh duel links has solved this problem, by releasing (if i'm correct) every month new cards. This keeps the meta fresh, but your wallets empty. I feel that Hearthstone will be a victim of Murphy's law. Every strong tier 1 deck will be overused because of the internet and the hearthstone core mechanics add's fuel to the fire

HS is dying for those who want play a game of skill.
HS is very much alive for those who wat to play the game mindlessly according to the idea of a low skill floor.
HS is dying for those who are fed up with the retardness of Murlocs - spamm, buff, go face. Likewise OTK decks.
HS is dying because the current design team is much overdue.
HS will certainly be revived if another design team starts diversify win conditions and raise the skill floor.
Remember HS has a very strong mindless gameplay demanding base. You can see it on this forum supported by pro T5 - punditry. Many names have been given to this species: fanboys, 12-years olds, vulgar crowd. This fast mass keeps the game boring, because they don't care about the finesse. They enjoy being stupid. That's why the game is kept boring by developers. Marketing reasons. In sum, the game is made for a target audience and these don't always visit Twitch streams. Declining numbers viewing streams doesn't say much. Those who leave want something more than just another mindless damage out of hand. It is about card design for the masses...stupid. As long as the masses are being served, the game will stay popular. What is noticed is a separation of minds.
That being said. HS is superior in artwork, audio and animation. Don't underestimate the attractivity of that. No other card game is as good in this field. Attractiveness in its own right.
Although I despise the masses who are primarily responsible for described symptoms of the game, I believe things will only change for the better if a total new design team starts from scratch and print more interesting cards.

@OP: I agree with you. HS is on the decline and this won't change as long as:
- The game is not easily accessible to new players
- The game has a few modes
- META changes occur after new releases only
RNG is not a problem. RNG is rather needed so that the more casual players don't instantly quit due to constantly being beaten by the pros.
Solving the new players accessibility is easy - they need to be less greedy. Adding new modes is easy too - they have to invest more from what they get from us into the game aka be less greedy again.
The biggest problem is the stale META and absolutely no deck building encouragement. In fact the copy/paste deck mechanism serves for the opposite. I've given a solution for this in the past. The result from it will be that the most played cards aka their best sellers will become less played meaning again less income for them.
So, my conclusion is that HS is dying, because of their own greed. And greed is a monster. One that they can not control.

To contribute to the discussion, I don't think Hearthstone is dying, but it is losing a very specific part of the player base, namely those who are actually interested in CCGs as a genre. I've never played another CCG (or another Blizzard game for that matter), and I've never been interested in a replacement. I just like Hearthstone (in other words, I belong to the vulgar crowd!). I imagine there are many like me, and we will keep the game going for a loooong time.

Twitch is a good indicator on the popularity of games. You could daily see the viewers of PUBG falling and while Fortnite's viewing numbers rising.
There is a certrain group of people who like cardgames, you and me obviously belong to that group. People who feel the same like me are still waiting for the new card game that will fullfill our wishes in a card game, when that game comes I wil defenitly leave hearthstone. This being said. In my friendlist in hearthstone alot of people who were daily active haven't been online for months.
With common sense, numbers, and personal experience I can say that Hearthtone is slowly dying. If the current situation continues I think more people will go to other card games especially when another card game comes wich will outpeform Hearthstone.

I just stated this is another post without reading your post, guess were both right, I also meant that hearthstone is not actually dying but it won't reach the hight it used to have. And I believe this is also the logic thing to happen. When an object "A" performs good, another group or person tries to make the same object better by making object "B" etc. At some point there will be a group or a person with exceptional motivation who will succeed in having a better object. All because the succes of object A. There woulnd be Pepsi if there wasn't a Coca cola.

I don't think the new player problem is new. it has always taken a while for new players to build up a collection, and since whispers of the old gods, the work required has remained constant, as there can only be at most 6 expansions in standard at once. And yes, obviously the game is dying. Any game that has hit its peak is dying. The developers have been putting in a ton of work to prolong the game's inevitable death. they have started adding solo content to every expansion and releasing new stuff in intervals, so it doesn't seem like there is this 4 month-long period where nothing new is happening with the game. the last wing just came for tombs of terror a couple of weeks ago, and now there is a hallow's end event that will last all of October then mid-November will be full of hype for the new expansion that comes out in early December! They are doing a great job of keeping their loyal players interested. They also stopped making certain cards exclusive to the solo adventures like they did in the past which was VERY new player unfriendly.

Take a look at my most recent deck, Watch post, totem, menagerie shaman.
Nah for real its fine . Honestly idk why are they killing their game instead of adding more stuff in it.
And what do u think would bring people back.I will tell you this it won’t be achievements. Hey look they added a one 1k wins For new portrait. What else could u add oh don’t say tournament mode cause that probably also bring people back .
World of Warcraft has been dying for like 10 years as well. ITs taking too long
wow has a base that has a mental disorder that keeps them playing. The addictive nature of the "game you can't stop playing or you will fall behind" is really sickening and has ruined lives. The poor souls who do dailies...I just laugh... I dumped my 1000 shares and made 16%. I won't buy in anymore. I could care less if blizzard burned tomorrow. I'd move on, too bad I bet some people would actually commit suicide. Hearthstone has a community more toxic than nuclear waste. Everyone has been giving me laughs for a long time but I won't even miss that., who cares. corporations mean as much to me as a pile of dog shit and that includes the one I work for. I take what I can from the piggy bank and fucking laugh. I have no loyalty to shit beyond what it can do for me and I'm very happy and very well off treating it that way. You get on the next train and move on down the line. Some people, sadly, can't do that. instead of whining and complaining about corporations learn how to use and abuse them like everyone else who laughs all the way to the bank.
Nah for real its fine . Honestly idk why are they killing their game instead of adding more stuff in it.

I have every new portrait they released for all nine classes when they patched it. Who cares.......Did I get something that gives me an advantage over anyone else...no....so who gives a shit? Hearthstone is a collecting game. Give us alternative card art or some shit like that. 1000 wins isnt even that hard. 10 wins a day for 100 days seriously wtf.
Pardon me if I take this Runeterra prediction with a grain of salt.
I watched it a bit and it reminded me of games that failed. It looked to difficult which wil stop people from bothering to learn it and therefor make it likely to fail.
Top players might praise these new games for the higher skill level, that will only make people leave faster. A game can't run on 100 players who enjoy it, especially when during launch you pay them a shitload of money to claim they enjoy is.
Just like with Valve, Riots player base is a moba crowd. Moba crowds don't care about a card game, they care about a moba game.
Aside from all that. - the meta will be stale in 2 weeks to (the amount of teemo i saw....) - the rng will be the same - the big streamers will leave as soon as the money is gone (apex legends anyone??)
People always talk about viewers and streamers. Don't underestimate how many people that play the game and don't watch stream - myself included.
In November 2018 Blizzard made a post about reaching 100 million Hearthstone players and yet you talk about going from 30-40k twtich viewers to 10k. The vast majority of the Hearhstone player base probably don't watch streams.
My point is: be careful about making assumptions based on something as simple as viewers. Hearthstone has a very large player base. You need to base it on actual number of people the game and revenue.
Talking about something like hearthstone dying based on twotch views is kinda bold.
Assuming say half of claimed player base is real (not retired/twink accounts/bots etc.), it'll take a while for it to dissipate, that's not taking into account the fact that if even the game is shit, there's plenty of those who will still like the taste no matter what.

Can we stop these Magic Nerds from coming into our forum? Please!
And what do u think would bring people back.I will tell you this it won’t be achievements. Hey look they added a one 1k wins For new portrait. What else could u add oh don’t say tournament mode cause that probably also bring people back .
wow has a base that has a mental disorder that keeps them playing.
- the meta will be stale in 2 weeks to (the amount of teemo i saw....)
- the rng will be the same
- the big streamers will leave as soon as the money is gone (apex legends anyone??)
HS is dying, 2020 July will be last expansion if they dont continue innovate like they did with giving out cards temporarily.
1) Increase speed of game by 2x
2) Make mixed mode (mixd expansions in Ranked mode)
3) Allow to buy old packs with gold.
4) Make blocking and Instant as in MTG:A.
5) Graveyard.
The goal of all life is death.
