Anyone else here think that creating a mechanic (as balanced as it may be in some cases) Rush, is signifying they've run out of good ideas? I mean introducing a nerf'd version of Charge sounds like a scapegoat for an idea, instead of trying to better balance cards with Charge
Of course not. It just signifies that they are learning from past mistakes. Charge is an extremely OP keyword in Hearthstone so they are toning it down with Rush.

We kinda already had the mechanic with cards like Icehowl, so I think it's another case of refactoring a mechanic into a single keyword for convenience, kind of like how cards with Lifesteal and Posonous existed before we had the official keywords.
The main reason for Charge to even be in the game is to give players access to a base amount of immediate removal. The face damage is only secondary. This is really the issue behind there being 0 neutral spells in the game - every effect that Blizzard wants all classes to have access to has to have a body attached to it, and the bodies tend to be the genuine problem (see Leper Gnome, Abusive Sergeant, Knife Juggler and Novice Engineer).
Rush allows players to remove minions by killing their own minions, it's much fairer.

Icehowl is actually worse than Rush, because you can NEVER attack heroes with Icehowl.
Much like Lifesteal, this should have been a thing for a long time. That's probably the reason why we're getting two keywords too.

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
Lol no, it's not the end of hearthstone. But I do hope that most of the charge cards get reworked into having rush. Charge should be reserved to less than 10 minions.
Charge was always a stupid ability. They just tried to steal haste from MTG without realizing it works really poorly with HS mechanics.
My guess is they would have just changed the charge ability a couple years ago if it weren't for Ben Brode's rules about not confusing players. The same rules that led them to hold off on rewording Druid of the Claw and give us dumb justifications before realizing they should just do it.
They will most likely still print charge cards and i dont think it is op or anything. Discover is way more gross, we can clearly see this with Netherspite Historian and Drakonid Operative for example.

Ah, good point; I should have picked a better example. I seem to recall a few cards that have charge but can't attack heroes the turn they're played; just not remembering them off the top of my head.
Everyone is mentioning Icehowl as an example for Rush, but everyone seems to be forgetting the closer example to this, Charged Devilsaur. Although it can be negated with recruit and Carnivorous Cube, when played from hand it's the same thing. Although Charged Devilsaur hasn't seen much play apart from otk decks, it was still a fairly balanced card, and it's a good arena pick. So no, rush does not signify the end of Hearthstone, because it didn't end it in Un'goro, so it sure as won't end it now.

I think I know what I'm talking about.
If there's one thing Blizzard has an abundance of (other than money lul), it's creativity. I'm not worried.

Charge wont be removed because of this. They Will still print charge cards.

Yeah and taunt needs nerf too
What a drama queen. For all we know, there will be 4 rush cards and never any more. Cool your jets.
Maybe they're trying to focus more towards board control instead of the smorcville that the game has turned into.
I suck at Hearthstone.
The more keywords the better. Bring them on!!!

What? N..o.
