IMO the meta is bad and stale precisely b/c of the cost of HS. When most players just save 5-10 k for the upcoming expansion they get enough dust for maybe 1-2 new meta decks . They wait 2 weeks, craft the top meta cancers and play it for half year. How do we expect versatility when most players don't have big collections? OFC they'll play the most powerful decks over and over and over....just b/c the majority can't / don't wanna spend real money or can't / don't wanna play HS for 6+ hours a day. Can we really blame the players on that ?
That's an excellent point! That's also one of the reasons why I switched to wild. Because in wild I don't need to craft as many cards as I would need to do in standard after every new expansion.
I recently changed my primary digital CCG from HS to Shadowverse (I still play HS but really only to complete my quests and get gold in case I ever decide to switch back) and man, it's refreshing. I get like 3-4 free packs per day (rather than roughly 1 pack every 2 days), with 8 cards per pack, almost always with multiple rares ("Silver" as they're called in Shadowverse). The crafting system in that game is super outrageous though because lower rarity cards dust for almost nothing and Legendaries cost over twice as much as they do in HS and without the 1-of limit so you need 3 of them, but it's fine because you get like 8x as much rewards. You can dust a week's collection for basically any top-tier meta deck from scratch.
But the main thing is that you need so many Legendaries from KFT to keep up with the meta, if you want to also stay F2P and keep doing your quests. You can say "oh, you just need Druid DK and that's it", but what happens if you get a quest that's not Druid and you need to build, say, a Priest deck? Then you need Raza and Shadowreaper. Or you get a Warlock quest? So you need Warlock DK. Or you get Paladin and you need like 4 sets worth of Legendaries.
I switched games because the game has become way too Legendary-centric. When I started, I played Zoo back in Vanilla, which didn't need any Legendaries (it played Leeroy but you could sub it out) and it was a very good deck. Today, even the "zoo" decks play Patches or Finja or something like that, there's no good entry point, and there's no fast and easy way to get the Legendaries you need. At least in Shadowverse you need a bunch of Legendaries, but you get so many F2P rewards that the Legendaries are affordable, unlike in HS.
legendaries don't win you games.
Tell that to Miracle rogue, midrange paladin, razakus priest, and quest mage.
You did a pretty good job at missing his point and made a completely unnecessary comment. Well done. Gtfo please.
People always forget that Blizzard is a company that needs to make money haha (and they've obviously been very successful in the money-making). I'll probably preorder the next expansion because I'm a sucker.
HOWEVER, I do wish there was something as simple as a "First win of the day" bonus or something like that. Doesn't have to be much, just like 20 gold, but that's an extra pack a week. It might help the F2P people a little more, for a little while longer (or at least, for like 3 weeks before they complain some more).
I used to play lots of Magic, sooo I used to spend a hell of a lot more than I ever have on this game haha. I think this game is at least okay as it is, as far as appealing to f2p, but maybe it could use just a little something else.

I love how the fanboys always give the same answer:''Stop playing bruh!"
Yeah, how the hell we didn't thought of that!I mean it's not like we love the game and have invested hundreds of hours and dollars in it.(Okey i have not paid anything and i had stoped playing for 3 months but we are not talking about me spefically :P.)Have you ever thought that players who have complains about the game, they love it just as much?
Just because they can't swallow and glorify everything blizzard does like you guys,it doesn't mean they have no right to express their frustration about it.Imagine hs with only the ''non whiners'' and ''totally objective'' players that like everything blizzard does, can you?I can,it's the same game but with 20 minutes of waiting per match XD
"I don't like this"
"But i don't like that you don't like this"
"But i don't like that you don't like that i don't like this"
I think just about one person in the entirety of this thread said that you should stop playing if you don't like the game. And i'm fairly sure he is a troll considering he made a post that's litterally only said "Don't like=Don't play".
Furthermore, considering how you said that people should be allowed to speak out their frustration, dosen't the counter argument exist, where "Fanboys" can speak out of their frustration over people who keep complaining? Or do you think their opinions dosen't matter, and that they need to be ridiculed? Because it seems to be your opinion.
I can tell you that making a thread on Hearthpwn telling people to boycott Blizzard is certainly not going to help. Firstly it won't reach enough people to even considerably change anything, but give Blizzard a minimaly smaller budget, which in turn means that they will have a harder time actually making these changes. The only times boycotting a product actually help, is when it reaches a large enough amount of people, to force the creators into desperation.
If you really want to help change Hearthstone, then make a Petition, and start spreading it on several of the forums, including Hearthpwn, /r Hearthstone and every single other forum you can find. Make some reasonable arguments for the petition, and with enough signatures, you will definetly be able to make Blizzard listen.

I want a new title, but Flux won't let me have one,
Blizzard has yet to come around to the fact that the 3 expansion a year/wild-rotation/removal of adventures system has made the game vastly more expensive...about double what it was. The are relying currently on people not realising this, and they have made some gestures to help people ignore it - i.e the frost/fire festivals and the removal of random dupe legendaries from pack openings.
However, they know this is not enough, and once the majority of the player-base realises this they will change something permanently, so threads like this are good - raise awareness and all that. They could roll out the non-dupe rule to epics as well....they could severely increase the gold from quests, they could throw a significant number of free packs at people per year (significant means 30+ per expansion)...but sooner or later they have to do something, or the player-base will really start to bleed away. Being a 'whale' should mean golden decks, not barely keeping up with game, that's where the F2Pers need to be at.
If only we could play best of 3 or 5 series as part of the ladder (or a parallel ladder), the staleness of the game would go down tremendously... just ban druid (or pirate warrior in msog, etc), and no more endless sameness.
That doesn't address the f2p problem, a group I don't belong to, but standard ladder has been really boring this month and we've just started this exp.

Just because you know how to start the engine of a car, doesn't mean that you know how to drive.
If you play regularly, you should easily be able to save up enough gold for 100 or more packs in between expansions.
You'd need to average over 80 gold a day to reach that, which seems on the high side. You'd have to re-roll all your 40 gold quests and play a lot of games for the 10 gold for 3 wins bonus. It's doable, but I wouldn't call it easy. If you do finish your quests but don't re-roll every time and don't play a lot of games beyond what you need to complete your quests, you're looking at about 70 free packs per expansion.
Even so, 70 packs is enough to get most commons and rares, plus enough dust to craft the rares you're missing plus a few epics or one legendary. So as f2p you won't be able to play the ideal versions of every competitive deck, but there are many decks you can play.
I do think the disenchant/craft ratio is pretty poor. Opening a 40-dust pack is such a disappointment: "only 39 more of these to craft the legendary I want". It would be nice if either the disenchant rate would be higher than 25%, or the costs for different rarity levels would be closer together. At the same time, I'm realistic enough to know that of all the things Blizzard could change to Hearthstone's economy, this is the least likely one.
I think the freebies are improving and especially liked the decisions to give everyone a C'Thun and Death Knight, since it allows all players to participate in the theme of the expansion. I had hoped for a free quest for Un'Goro, but for some reason they didn't do that. I also enjoyed the recent double gold and arena festivals.
What is unfortunate for f2p and low-budget players is that there won't be adventures anymore. The adventures were a cheap way to unlock a lot of cards. For the real-money price of an adventure you can buy 17 card packs, but an adventure contains a lot more value than 17 packs, on average.

HEY MIRACLE ROGUE, YOU CANT WIN GAMES WITHOUT EDWIN!!
Miracle Rogue: Uhh....ok. Draws the entire deck and attacks with an 18 attack Questing Adventurer.
HEY MIDRANGE PALADIN, YOU CAN'T WIN WITHOUT TIRION, TARIM, OR RAGNAROS LIGHTLORD!!!
Midrange Paladin: Sure thing boss. Spikerdiged Steed into Bonemare, discovers Tirion with Stonehill Defender, discovers Tarim with second Stonehill Defender.
HEY QUEST MAGE, YOU CAN'T WITH GAMES WITHOUT THE QUEST!!
Quest Mage: No shit. It's literally in the name of the deck. It's just Burn/Freeze Mage without the quest.
OH SO YOU MEAN ALL THOSE LEGENDARY BURN SPELLS WIN YOU THE GAME THEN HUH??
Quest Mage: You mean Pyroblast, Firelands Portal, Fireball, and Frostbolt? Nah bro, those are all epics or lower.

I did literally exactly that going into KFT, and saved 5k gold in just over a month. If you have a large friends list and are online regularly, trading for one or two 80g quests a week can pretty easily net you an average of 100g per day. Given that there are 3 expansions per year, that means 4 months in between expansions. Assuming you are still buying new packs after the set drops, I'll give 3 months for saving. Allowing for days off and less than perfect commitment, I think it's very reasonable to say you can save up 10k gold in three months time.
You might have to netdeck Pirate Warrior or Jade Druid in casual just to be time efficient, but whatever.
edit: Just did the math from the spreadsheet I used to track, and I averaged 135 gold per day.

My bad. Didn't realize people couldn't have a different opinion and express it just like the OP.
Seriously though, what a worthless fucking comment that doesn't mean anything. I doubt any of the people quoted are fanboys. They just don't share the same fucking deluded opinions you and the OP do. Who knows though? The fanboy side is a lot more grounded and reasonable than you guys are so if I had to choose...
