Although I've only been playing a little over two weeks, I've been lucky enough to get some great cards like Argent Squire, Defender of Argus, Twilight Drake, Dark Iron Dwarf, and Silver Hand Knight purely through the Arena. At first, everything was great because I had some cards that were strong and effective but not too overbearing or difficult for my opponent to play against. It didn't feel like I was given an unfair advantage either because I saw many people who also had these cards.
I was having fun until I started getting matched against people with a massive advantage over me.
I've only been able to level Priest to 23, Mage to 21, and Druid to 19 but I'm getting matched against people pushing level 40. I've only been able to get one legendary, Captain Greenskin (who is barely playable, even for the classes who use weapons, and only worth 400 dust), but I'm getting matched against people with 2-5+ legendaries.
For the average player, luck and "Paying 2 Win" completely overshadows any skill you might have. Trump is able to compete and succeed without P2W, but it's an uphill battle even for him and he's a top 1% player.
You only get new cards until you reached level 10. Beyond that the new cards are just of cosmetic nature. If you have a problem with other people´s legendaries you should create a fast rush deck with which games only last till round 7,8 or 9. This way the high mana legendaries won´t make a big deal in your games.

Oh, I know that the cards you get from level 10+ are only cosmetic Golden cards. My point was that if someone is a higher level they've clearly played more games, earned more gold, and opened more packs than I have; which means they have a larger selection of cards to pick from.
I actually enjoy slower classes like Priest and Mage the most, but I'll try out a fast Hunter or Warlock deck. Thanks for the tip.
You can get to legendary with numerous f2p decks btw. Having a couple of legendaries does not decide the victory, but to be fair, people who own a mass abundance of them are at an advantage.
Off topic but in a card game, Skill > Cards, but Luck beats all, perhaps your devotion to RNGesus is not high enough.
So you are complaining that other people have put in more time playing than you... so than just put in more playing time instead of complaining about it. Even though it's a free to play game you could buy 40 packs of cards it won't kill you I'm sure in your lifetime you have spent 50 bucks on a computer game or an xbox game <removed>.

How is this fair?
You say that these people have legendaries and have played a lot longer than you, how do you know that they bought their cards? You don't. Many people play this without investing money. With any card game you will have to play and collect and overtime your collection will grow, you can't blame people for using a legendary that they got in a pack or blame someone who has played this for 3 more months than you. As for non-legendary decks, zoo and control hunter are very powerful decks that are some of the best and dont run legendaries. Try those out for the time being as you wait to get more cards.
The last two packs I got I got two legendaries, and those packs were not bought . . . praying to the RNG gods for help is also another solution!

idolater. Used to be people would sell their souls for unlimited wealth and power. Now it's down to a stock option or few cards in a F2P game.
But don't let me stop you. =3
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
If you see a post that you find objectionable, report it, it helps keep the forum clean. But be aware people are allowed a lot of latitude.
If you find my posts to be rude, objectionable, or whatever, well, I got tired of writing polite TL; DR (Too Long, Didn't Read) posts at crybaby whiners. So now I just make it short and nasty.
If you find that funny, well and good. If you find that sad, that's even better.
I am pretty sure that if ur good enough u win versus 5-6 legendaries!Last season i was rank 1 without even 1 legendary and i was able to win vs many other ppl with more than 5 legendaries (such as control warriors)! Its basically a skill game!I agree that legendaries can help too but trust me , u dont necessarily need them!
I just started playing on the Americas server for fun, a break from EU for a change, where I have most of the best cards. And I'm surprised to find so many players with epic/legend filled decks down at rank 20!
I pitied them more than me, whether I won or lost. Stuck down there even after acquiring all the best card, while I'm beating them with all the crud you get to start with. I did craft a few cards to get going, with the dust I earned from the free arena runs at start. Like defender of argus, Earthen ring farseer and Acolyte of pain, but that's it, just playing the cards you gain from leveling up otherwise. Got to rank 18 with only 2 losses so far.
Sounds like your problem is based on playing casual perhaps?
Try playing ranked, that way you'll be more likely to play against people at a similar level to yourself
I just want to add a few things about this. First of all, even casual seems flooded with more people using the popular decks with slight variations or exact copies, so reverting to casual doesn't make a whole lot of difference from ranked these days (IMO). Second, casual has it's own MMR value, so it matches you up against opponents around that.
All of that being said, yes it is possible to beat people who stack their decks with just epics and legendaries. It still boils down to knowing when and how to use them to take advantage of their full potential.
Legendaries are strong cards but they don't always make strong decks. You can get to legend rank using a budget deck - people do it all the time. I don't have a ton of time to play, but I'm at rank 7 right now with Leeroy Jenkins as the only better than rare card in my deck.
you play against them, altough you don't have the legendaries, you must be a pretty good player.
Do you feel better now?
Or you can change your perspective to "People have played F2P accounts to legendary in less than 50 hours game time"
It doesn't matter if you have 10 legendary cards in your deck. This is not a pay to win game (a few packs definitely helps). Skill will take you a lot further.
Let's make this straight, if you want to complete with those Legendaries filled deck, you can only play aggro or mid range. Going control vs control with them w/o Legend cards is like going to battle without amour. Legendaries are almost always 1 for 2-3 so running out of cards to deal with them is pretty common. If the match drag longer than expected, it's better to go for face and hope for the best rather than wasting removals on them.
Someone using a cookie-cutter deck will get rolled by somebody who actually knows how to use the deck most of the time, so putting in the time and practice really does make a difference. I just hit my first legend rank this season and have been playing for several months so its not a quick road. Watch streams, get good enough at arena that you are making profit out of it, and use that to craft cards to make a good deck you can become comfortable with. Thats about it.

Have to disagree. Legendaries always balance the scale towards the player who has them. They are annoying, they are powerful and they aren't easy to remove, usually requiring too many trades just to get rid of 1, if you don't have the Hex, Poly or Assassinate in your hand.
As for the P2W argument, the correct term would be Pay-2-Skip or Pay-2-Accelerate.
Legandaries do not win you games. More likely rares and epics will, which you can craft for cheap enough, using dust from other cards you know you'll never use. The free arena runs you do at start are enough to gain the dust needed to get a decent start, nobody has any excuse.
Although I've only been playing a little over two weeks..
Stopped reading there. It's a PvP game. All PvP games are brutal when you're new. There are only so many other brand new players to match you against, and far, far more experienced players.
I have never played any PvP game where being new didn't mean getting curbstomped until you either got better or got out.
The problem IMO is the high expectations. You are new to the game, you don't put a dime on it and you expect to climb ranks fast? No one stops you from playing ranked, go ahead, but everyone else can do it as well, people with more resources (being time or money) that are going to be really tough to beat. The question is: are you up to the challenge? No one promised you that it would be fair.
F2P games should be regarded as free to try them out, to experience them. If you like them and want to be really good on them you know you have to commit something, beacuse even buying packs is not guarantee of anything. You have to put serious time on it and without cards the effort surely is higher.
When I was new to the game and still unsure how much I would invest on it, I used to concede a lot. I had low expectations, so when the other player had a ridiculous deck out of may reach I just conceded and move forward. That way I wasn't hit hard for those losses and maximized my opportunities to find opponents of my level and the rate that I got gold. That's a valid strategy to play casually until you have time or money to put in the game to compete better. It's all about the expectations.
Ranked play starts to become a joke at r18-16.

- Level 36-38+ Warlock (wider selection of cards)
- Level 36-38+ Druid (wider selection of cards)
- Someone with King Mukla, Ysera, The Black Knight, Alexstraza, and Cairne Bloodhoof in their deck.
- Someone with Ysera, Ragnaros, Hogger, and Gruul in their deck.
- Someone with Ragnaros, Nat Pagle, and Cairne Bloodhoof in their deck.

I've been able to beat people with Legendaries by carefully using Shadow Word: Pain and Shadow Word: Death on Priest or Fireball, Frostbolt, and Polymorph on Mage but I run into big problems when...
- People have more legendaries than I have removal cards
- It takes multiple cards to remove someone's legendaries, making it almost impossible to win trades and giving them a card advantage
- I have to sacrifice all my removal, which leaves me vulnerable to other threats in their deck
- I have to sacrifice numerous minions, making it almost impossible to establish board control
For example, against the person with 5 legendaries, each time I destroyed one he'd just play another until I eventually ran out of removal. :/
Edit: Oh, and thanks for all the advice everyone. <3
