posted a message on coming back from a 4-5 months break, anything i should know?

I'm in the same shoes with you OP. Just started playing again recently because BRM release. I am still in the process of collecting gold to unlock fully (haven't unlocked 3rd wing yet) but the progress is good so far. Most of the competitive cards lie in the first 2 wings so not much of problem.

I'm using 2 different decks to climb. Currently at rank 3. Will try to push for Legend again before the end of the month.

Ramp Druid is very stable. It's good against Hunter, Zoo, Patron due to many high attack taunt minions, bad against Hand lock because the lack of singe target removal.

Patron Warrior, the new combo deck type is surprisingly strong. The combo is almost unstoppable once performed correctly. It stomps most zoo and Mage decks easily but usually lose to Handlock and Druid.

Hand lock is my side deck. It's ok but not recommended since Hunters are everywhere and WL vs Hunter match up is extremely one sided.

posted a message on Mages in Arena

Mage is only okayish in arena now. Even with flamestrike, it's very difficult to recover from an annoying board full of death rattle minions. Nowadays I see more Paladins, Warlock and Rogue at 8+ wins.

posted a message on Any Advise on beating Mage?? (Freeze and Mech)

Against freeze mage it's almost a sure win. You don't have to do anything, just amour up as much as possible, slowly build up your board, just don't over commit. It's not necessary to attack the mage anyways because she will from fatigue dmg after exhausting all spell dmg cards. A commmon mistake which may lead to unnecessary losses is to toss away the amoursmith early to the hand of doomsayers. You should always try to keep them and use together with Whirlwind on a crowded board to get out max value. After a certain amour threshold, freeze mage won't be able to reach lethal anymore and have to concede.

Mech mage is just similar to other tempo decks which tend to overwhelm the board and slowly  chip off your health. Victory usually depends on whether you can get early weapons or not. After turn 6, if you can stabilise the board with around 15 hp, it's pretty much a win. They usually use Mirror Entity and Duplicate secrects so need to play around correctly too. Since the meta revolves around sticky minions who dominate the board, Mind Control tech seems to be a very good counter. I have won several games thanked to this little guy who stole the enemies strongest taunt at the right moment, turning the tide of the game.

Actually I don't mind that at all. It's kinda funny listen to people ranting while laughing off behind the screen.  Sometimes I even launch insults first before they have chance to react to double the salts. :))

Arena or Constructed? Because those are 2 totally different battlegrounds.

posted a message on What do you think is the most consistent deck now?

I've been losing a lot to aggro so I switched back to the standard mid-range Shaman with the addition of only 3 Naxx card ( Loatheb and Spider). It seems to be doing well in this meta, even beating Hunter given a decent draw.

posted a message on Nothing but aggro.

The thing I hate about aggro is that it is very mistake lenient. I have lost to many Zoo who misplayed horribly and yet still won the match simply because my starting hand didn't allow me to catch up. Against Control decks, it rarely happens. You misplay once and the game will swing to your opponent favor heavily. That's why it requires a lot more thinking than just face rushing.

I'm sitting on tons of dust but haven't decided to craft anything yet because of this. Don't wanna lose dust value.

posted a message on To all legend players, tell us about yourselves.

    What's your age?
    - 22

How many times have you reached legend?
    - 1. Kinda lost interest after that. Now I just play for fun.

    How often do you play?
    - 1-2 hour a day on average

Which time of day do you usually play?
    - Night

Which class/deck did you use to get to legend?
    - Miracle Rogue

Have you played any other CCGs before? If so, which one for how long?
    - No. I only read Yu-gi-oh.

Do you have any tips or know-hows on grinding to legend?

    - Take time to think carefully for important turns. It's ok to let the rope burn rather than playing quickly and regret the decision immediately after. Also try to plan ahead for future turns and anticipate opponent's combos/counterplays.

    - Avoid tilting at all cost. Try taking a long break after 3 consecutive losses. Listening to music while playing may also help.

    - Keep track of the meta and choose the deck that you think you have the best chance. Try not to switch to new decks too often as you usually lose due to inexperience with different matchups.

    - Just keep playing, if you know you are good enough to get Legend you will get it eventually. Never be afraid to press that play button again.

posted a message on Any tips on Playing control warrior against shaman and priests
    Quote from paleezer »

Why is shaman a bad matchup for control warrior? I can see priest, but shaman seems like it would go 50/50 against control warrior.

Because you need multiple attack instances to clean the board while Control Warrior only play 1 minion at a time which falls into shaman's greatest strength - single target removals. Thus the board will be ever populated making warrior weapon useless and just a single Flametongue/Manatide totem can single handedly wins the Shaman the game.

posted a message on What counters the current "zoo" Priest and Control priest?

Priest is like a life leeching creature, you leave them at 1 hp, they will just clean the board and heal back up. So it's best to set up a combo to finish them off. First play a little bit aggressive to bait out the Soul Priest + Circle. If they doesn't seem to have it or are holding it for even more value then play Loatheb, they will get stuck for 1 turn. Next turn Roar to finish them off.

Also I think it's best to play Keeper of the Grove as early as possible because 90% of Priest are running Cabal Shadow Priest.

posted a message on What top 3 decks do you find the most fun to play against?

I enjoy playing Mage, Paladin and Rogue because I rarely see them on ladder. Most players Mage/Pally/Rogue I met often play interesting decks.

I hate playing Priest the most. Whenever I'm up against Priest, I know it's gonna be a long tiring game no mater who wins.

posted a message on Which Miracle variation will you be playing post-Leeroy nerf?
    Quote from Tandem21 »

    Guys, Malygos works perfectly fine.

The idea is to deal good damage early with your minions while saving at least one Prep, SS, and Evis. When you drop him you then deal minimum 17dmg.

Seriously, the goal here isn't to have Maly win you the game on his own, but rather to finish it for you while you build a board with your minions. So you don't care at all for Loatheb because they'd need to drop him the turn before you play Maly.

I'm personally considering making a more control-style Rogue with Maly which would include cards like Rag or maybe Kel Thuzad just to buff up the minion aspect of the deck.

I think you are pretty much describing Tempo Rogue rather than Miracle Rouge. Miracle contains lots of spells to fuel Gadgetzan draws while the deck you describe is pretty minion heavy and more board control oriented.

Malygos is way too late IMO. By T9 you are either dead to Aggro or had burnt lots of cards in hand against Mid-range/Control. I don't see how Maly presence would help much. I would definitely run Soulsea Deckhand list with an Arcane Golem or 2.

Once you got Legend, all the anxieties will be gone. You will now play for pure entertainment, not that elusive card back.
