I'm not debating about whose fault it was, I think Blizzard fucked up as well - I'm just saying that Blizzard wants to make extra sure not to have to deal with that kind of thing ever again - hence the complete removal of 'non-standard' content purchases.
In my experience Blizzard seems to be very stubborn in doing things in a certain way. Like these days it seems like it's all or nothing with regards to nerfs etc.
I'm not even disappointed with the addition of standard. But I do think blizzard is going to lose money from the choice to stop selling their old sets and adventures.
Yeah right, like they didnt do their calculations of profits and they r just "trying" something to see how it will hold up. Haha dont be naive, they know exactly where and how to get money out of customers. If they think this is the best way, it most likely is, no matter how we - "plebs" - see it ;-)
If it's because of the "complexity", they could just make a patch with a 5 simple questions form to detect if the player is a retard. If he is not, then unlock the old packs because there is no risk of buying the wrong thing.
If it's because they want more money, well, it's a big risk to lose income actually. Those people who would have bought gvg can give up collecting completely and/or even more on to other game.
I seriously think they got so hyped with the esports bs that they are neglecting everything else about HS now
Reason is simple: if the old cards were still accessible, many players would be likely just dust them to reduce the number of new packs they need to be competitive for standard. Now, existing players will likely hold on to a lot of mediocre cards for Wild simply because they will be a pain to replace in the unlikely event that they're ever usable again.
They need to remove the packs from the store to avoid help desk problems. As noted earlier, Blizzard will have a lot calls if they leave them in the store. There are tons of beginner guides out there recommending that new players buy GvG to build cheap mech decks. New players might follow those instructions and ignore UI warnings.
They could create a new separate store interface later for Wild packs, if collectors insist upon vaporizing their money collecting virtual cards. A deck consists of 30 cards; you do not need the entire set to build one. The bulk of the dust cost of most decks is in epics and Legendaries. Buying packs to get specific epics and Legendaries is not efficient.
This argument is nonsense, they could put it into a category called "Old Stuff" and put a big warning message on it and put naxx and GVG...
They said they will re-release Naxx somehow.
It's not just UI and customer support issues. They can track what people are doing, and they probably lose a lot of new players when they are confronted with all the packs in the store. If there were 20 different types of packs on sale, even if they are labelled "old stuff", they know they will have a lot of people immediately giving up and un-installing. My guess is that if they do start selling GvG again, the packs will be hidden from new accounts.
And if they open the collection and see 1000+ cards isn't the same thing? Or the plan is to also hide wild cards to new players? So wild will be dead because no one will try and join there?
They need to open the crafting interface to see all the cards. There is no indication of the number of cards you are missing in your account, and I doubt that is an accident. Blizzard could even set a default filter in crafting mode to be Standard cards.
The shop is different. People are more likely to be scared off by apparent need to buy a lot of stuff when they are starting.
This logic is a guess on my part, but it's the explanation that makes the most sense to me. Blizzard has the analytics to know whether they lost new accounts as the number of the sets of packs on sale increased. They presumably make a lot of money from people wasting cash completing their collection; this move makes it less likely that new players would try to do so.
I think the official reason was that they didn't want it to clutter up the shop with 10x expansions or so.
Would be nice to be able to buy expansions for Wild, but let's be honest it would probably end up just being 40 Dust anyway. Especially as Wild continues to grow and few and fewer cards become playable; Standard will never have that problem, but Wild Shaman for instance has to REAALLY get a broken opening to replace Tunnel Trogg and Totem Golem. Kind of like Muster for Battle and Shielded Mini-bot for Paladin.
Ι think they said its bcz they dont want to confuse new players. But i still dont understand that stupid reason!
They don't want new players to join, have 200g to their name or something, buy a bunch of GvG packs because mechs are cool, and then having wasted that gold/their money on stuff they can't use for Standard. Which is the mode specifically designed to make it where you don't have to have a huge collection to play.
i would like a "wild" expansion which features all outroatated cards. New standart players wouldn't be confused and new wild players would have it much easier.

That is exactly the reason why they did it, and it does make sense. It would be nice if there was a point (like 200 ranked wins or something) that old content would become available for people who want to purchase it. Really, it doesn't make sense to purchase old packs because it is likely just as cheap to craft the cards, but the expansions do provide some entertainment.
I don't think Blizz wants to support wild too much, as it's more beneficial to them if the majority play standard and for standard to get more support.
But I do think they could get away with something like a "wild pack", where it's one pack that pulls from the entire collection of wild cards. They'd probably have to adjust the percentages so that the probability of getting a certain rarity stays the same.
Maybe create a Mix pack, a pack that contains cards from the rotation periods ex: a pack with (Naxx & GVG) other with (LOE BRM & TGT), 2 kind of wild packs instead of 5

I still think this is a sensible demand from us the player base, and they might listen and change their mind.

Because blizzard thinks the community is retarded, which this forum proves consistently.
