Hats off XanXon : This thread is fu*"/g awesome ! That level of creativity just amazed me, not to mention how much the original idea is great and how it would indeed be a powerful incentive to keep players going and go the extra mile - outside of the box - to achieve some particular one. I just think thismust be implemented. Really glad you signature caught my eyes and lead me to this thread
Before I'm editing it to death and people are disliking it, let's talk about the idea first:
You can complete the achievements as known.
Each time you complete an achievement, you get 1-4 Hearthstones (new currency), dependant on the difficulty.
Each day, you can defeat two adventure bosses (a normal one + a heroic boss) to get additional 5 Hearthstones.
The reason: Blizzard has already announced, that they wanna implement adventure like features with each upcoming expansion.
This way, people wouldn't just rush through the bosses and never do them again.
It's like a daily reward. However, rewards aren't feeling great when getting them for nothing.
The normal, easier boss would give 3 Hearthstones so that everyone can get it.
The heroic boss gives 2 Hearthstones as a bonus for the experienced player.
You can spend the Hearthstones to get new cards that aren't obtainable otherwise.
This way it doesn't affect the gold/dust value and Blizzard doesn't have to worry about losing money.
It'd be another motivation to do the achievements/daily bosses and especially the Brawl achievements to get the new cards.
Also, Blizzard could implement new beginner achievements so that new player get easy Hearthstones that they can spend on cards.
It'd be possible to add something else than cards as well, for examples (old) card backs, alternative heroes or arena tickets.
To sum up: It's supposed to motivate player do use every feature of Hearthstone, including old adventures and using the Brawl more than just one time to get the pack.
Seems like a worthwhile addition for them to do especially if it was included when they start allowing wild packs (so why not also wild adventures?) to be purchased again. It'd give other reasons to buy them aside from just getting cards that people don't have in their collection.
Wow. This is surprisingly well thought out, and I would definitely rate it. The only problem is that the achievements might not be too easy for F2P players, since not all of them would even own a copy of Elise Starseeker. (I fortunately do after hours of grinding)
Ehrr... sorry to sound a contrary note, but I'm not specially fond of these last developments.
I do love the idea of achievements in Hearthstone, and I'm also in favor of motivating players to use every feature of the game / providing new kinds of rewards. But tying all these things together, in this way... well, TBH it seems kind of artificial, and maybe a little over-complicated, too.
Achievements in WoW were something you did for the heck of it. To some people it meant fun, to others glory, or even bragging rights, but that's about it. This is a significant deviation from that concept.
Mind, there are interesting ideas, and obviously a lot of work has been put into the mock-ups, etc.
Kudos for that. But personally I'd prefer to keep achis separate from the rest.
Or what would be your idea to improve it? Btw it's nice to have a counter voice here in this thread. :)
Thanks for not taking my comment amiss :)
Ideas to improve? Ehh... not easy... and honestly can't think about all the possible details right now... but maybe something along the lines of:
No special reward associated with base achievements, since by definition they are simple to get. They would be a reward unto themselves, so to speak, and possibly an intermediate step towards composite / multi-level achis.
Bigger / more complex achievements could yield cosmetic rewards, so that there is long-term motivation but game economy is left unaltered. In WoW you could obtain stuff like Titles or Tabards, and the two of them were somewhat related. For example, an achi such as Loremaster would grant you both a title and a tabard, or collecting a number of tabards would get you an achi like Fashionista, etc.
In Hearthstone, titles could be adopted almost the same way: if you earned one, it would be added to your battlenet tag for everyone to see. If sb earned more than one title, they should be given the opportunity to choose the one they want to sport.
Tabards could perhaps be compared to card backs. So you could get a unique card back if you completed a certain (hard enough) achievement, and if you collected a number of card backs that would earn you a specific achi.
Avoid the new currency thing. Can't really explain this well, but somehow I feel like our game life is complicated enough with gold and dust managing. Or maybe I'm just getting old, lol.
Last but not least: please, do find the way to present this work - in some form, even if not super-polished - to Team 5. Otherwise, the risk is it's all been for nothing. They might have some sort of community manager person checking on non-Blizz forums, but I wouldn't bet on it. And even if they have such a person, there's no guarantee they'll ever find this thread.
I like your goal with the added Hearthstone currency, but maybe there could be another way to achieve it than adding a new currency as rewards.
How about it just rewarding you a little bit of gold and a progress bar at your main profile, as in "569/3900 achievements completed" and/or "Achievements completed: 320/2200 Bronze, 160/1200 Silver, 89/500 Gold"
I think that would be enough and they could keep on adding new achievements with every release so very few players would ever be able to complete them all and just having completed a lot of them would be prestige in itself.
It's just something for players to do other than just trying to win as many games as possible to rank up. The gold rewards wouldn't have to be big at all, they could be anything from 5-50 gold depending on the difficulty, maybe 5-15 for Bronze achievements, 20-30 for Silver achievements and 35-50 for Gold achievements. Or even just 10 for Bronze, 20 for Silver and 30 for Gold if they really wanna be cheap about it :P
Some achievements could reward cosmetics instead of gold I guess, like a new decorative ring around your hero portrait on a certain hero skin, different colors on your battle tag or if they really wanna go the extra mile they could add new animations when you play certain cards. For example if you complete a certain achievement involving Annoy-o-tron, when you play Annoy-o-tron it would have a different animation entering the battlefield or maybe you could get a different frog from Hex or a different sheep from Polymorph, may be a bit much to make completely new art just for those achievements, but it would be pretty cool^^
What is Hearthstone to you? A fun and semi-competitive game with wacky effects and crazy RNG outcomes or just a card game you wanna grind as many wins you can get as fast as possible in?
It's been 2.5 years and we still don't have any achievements yet. Even the opposite, the hidden quests we had were mostly removed. Will we ever see any improvement in this particular area of the game?
Honestly, im skeptical. Blizzard doesnt want to introduce ranked rewards in both Wild and Standard ladder, cause it would "make ppl feel like they r forced to play both game modes". And introducing achievements kinda carries in the same spirit, rewards or not, it would "force" ppl to play certain decks and do stuff to get them, wich apparently is not something Blizzard wants to "burden" us with :F
Looks good, has a purpose and also gives you a place to track those tricky little achievements already in the game like "beat all the Innkeeper's expert decks" for 100g and the one for getting 1000 wins or something like that.
I used to be such an achievement whore when i was playing WoW, i need this in my life.
Bitch i'm Willy Wonka!
I love the idea of achievements and would love to see them add them to the game.

You deserve a HUUUUUUUUUUGE Gadgetzan thumbs up :
"What have you got there,
PinocchioMalygos?"You're hired!
Nature is the Day.
Man is the Sun.
Woman is the Moon.
The Stone is the Sky.
The Art is the Way.
Wow. This is surprisingly well thought out, and I would definitely rate it. The only problem is that the achievements might not be too easy for F2P players, since not all of them would even own a copy of Elise Starseeker. (I fortunately do after hours of grinding)
Wished to be pink.
Then did.
Then fired myself.
Then did again.

Nice idea ! but will get some people to be frustrated !
Like the design a lot! Great Idea !
don't know, maybe

Does anyone know all those achievements?
Blizzard did it five years later.
