The card is still playable so the nerf is fine. What i think they intended though was to weaken the Deathrattle Hunter archetype. Deathrattle Hunter is a slow greedy deck that suffers from early game pressure. But the Candleshot + Hunter's Mark combo was incredibly efficient in dealing with early giants or big hyenas. Now that it costs 2 mana, it can't be used in the deck with Prince Keleseth. So now Deathrattle hunter has to choose between its reliable removal or the immense value of Keleseth.
When you consider that Hunter's Mark is basically Execute, this nerf makes a lot of sense. Both require something to damage the minion.
I can't believe this was at 0 mana for the longest time.
You can also compare it with shield slam, which is still at 1.
But Shield Slam has another requirement on top. You want to kill an 8 Health minion? You need at least 8 armour then. You can still play Hunters Mark on anything and not need a prerequisite for it to work.
Incidentally, it used to be change a Minions Health to 1 For this turn. So it's actually seen buffs as well as Nerfs.
Why not just HoF these cards instead of making them forever irrelevant? Are they really too strong for wild as well?
a) can't HoF Basic cards
b) they aren't forever irrelevant. Hunter's Mark (alongside all the other nerfed cards) will eventually see play again when it is needed, which is how it should be instead of it being included in every deck just because there's literally no good reason not to play it.
What do you guys reckon a good change between keeping hunters mark for keleseth or should it be the other way around ? If so whatre good replacements ? and yes im talking about DR hunter
As Long as Warlocks can play an 8/8 on turn 3, I dont see why hunters mark at 1 mana is to expensive? Hunter has no reliable removal as it is. Yes dead shot is good, but to situational.
I had shot up the rankings using a Baku deck with Hunter's Mark and Candleshot for removal. As a reminder, Baku requires you to have only odd faced cards in your deck. Consequently, I can't use Hunter's Mark with Baku at all now. The only removal I have left now is the highly random "destroy a minion."
I don't mind it. Skulking Geist will be moving to wild soon enough so my spell hunter list doesn't have to worry about the geist chomping away too many of my resources.
Good nerf. Sucks for Baku Face Hunter, which may have become viable if the meta got any more retarded. Hunter's Mark is comfortably worth 2 mana.
Like this card is unplayable now.

Hidden Nerf to Skulking Geist.
Does warrior still play execute? (when it's not odd).
As long as springpaw is in the format, Hunter's Mark is a reasonable choice.
Do not mix nerf and murder.

4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
Shield Slam requires much more work though. (Well, not "much" anymore...thanks Baku)
Bad change, defeats tech choice of Skulking Geist

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
Even @ 2 mana it's still not bad. Hunter has a lot of options to deal 1 damage, any deck that actually wanted to play this card will still do so.

"Is this a good change?"
Not for me.

Ah well.

Really hurts Prince Keleseth deathrattle lists, though.
