Definitely OP in my opinion based on what it can replace, and the fact that it can wipe a board potentially and gain you some tempo for one single card at 7 mana.
This would be very good in a current meta match where N'zoth still lives as well, as it would be better than a Twisting Nether in a lot of instances since it has the potential to kill initial minions and the deathrattle spawns in one single card. Again potentially providing a tempo swing of the 4/4 body.
This will see play, and sort of runs counter to any previous card which was a warlock AOE. Typically, there is a self-inflicted balance with a warlock card like Hellfire, Twisting Nether, Defile; and there is also with this card... the only issue I really have is the 4/4 body left behind. SOme could say it is too slow... however in a control warlock deck, once you get past T5 and if you are in a good spot you will likely win against any aggro deck. This just seals the deal and crushes any hope aggro or mid decks might have at mounting a comeback.
7 mana 4/4 doesn't seem "very good" even if it does wipe both sides of the board
So Twisting Nether costs 1 more, wipes the board, and leaves nothing behind (Ignoring deathrattles). This is 1 mana less, and leaves you with a tempo 4/4. Seems like a better deal to me given the right conditions. Think about if your opponent has deathrattle minions on board as well. Whatever spawns from them has a potential of going away as well.
Not much else to say. Why do warlocks get these cards?
Cho gall, discard quest, discard beast, discard lifesteal shitt, guy who reduce cost of a card that you draw with hero power to 0, rin (ok it can be good but again not so much)....these are all shitty warlock legendaries that he got...and now its problem cause of DK and Lord Godfrey and mybe glinda i some decks....cmon guys warlock was shitt for almost 2 years!
I know for it...he seem bad.. But again odd deck/tempo deck/ dk synergy etc...they wanna make something new xD 2 mana price (everyone said its shitt) most op card for agro decks... Same for this warrior card...card alone is bad but i right deck it can be op :)
Overrated but good card. 7 mana 4/4 that clears the board is good but does not provide enough tempo.
I dont quite understand how it doesnt provide enough temp. Its a two damage defile which is worth 4 mana and two cards. So, the body is a 3 mana 4/4. Couple all this with the fact that its all in one card, and you get something that is very, very good. Anytime you can wipe the board and have a minion left in play is the ultimate tempo play. Just ask Duskbreaker
Its certainly not omnipotent like, lets say, Sunkeeper Tarim, but its certainly very very good and has the ability to help define the meta.
I felt there was an OP feeling behind the comment. To me, that card is fine since it's a legendary and you can carry just one in your deck.
It looks like a tool more than a card around which you build, similar in effect to Twisting Nether and having that 4/4 that you can play for free after a big spell - at a one mana discount and all in one card. Strong indeed, but was the Twisting Nether combo an autowin?

ahhh, yes in that case agreed. I think the 4/4 body left behind, the tempo that creates and one less mana than Twisting Nether make up for it being harder to actually use to clear a full board. It's a great card, not an auto win card most times.
I'm not really sold on this legendary. It's a strong card for sure, but I don't think that he will see tremendous play as much as people are giving him credit for. I even think, that some are slightly overrating him.
I mean, let's begin with the positive sides:
A strong board clear-type of effect, relentless against aggro and mid-range.
He leaves a nice body after himself => tempo.
Potentially a 7 mana Twisting Nether, which can also clear the tokens after a deathrattle's effect.
So yes, I'm seeing his power and I don't deny it. But the thing, which concerns me, is the factor "usefulness". I think, that we warlocks have enough tools to work with already and getting yet another clear doesn't seem that attractive anymore. It feels superfluous. Imho we need to fill a far more valuable slot and that's N'Zoth's one. Before I continue with my list, I would like to say the following - if this card was given to another class (shaman, hunter, rogue) then they would have blessed the devs for getting such a strong tool. Those classes are in the need of powerful board clears and they deserve him more than we do.
Anyway here is the list of the things, which bug me about this card:
The effect is kinda conditional. While this card is really strong against tempo or mid-range decks, Priest and other control ones build a super sticky board, which won't be easy to clear. Don't get influenced by the video, Leute. You won't always find a nice domino board state against slower decks, so Twisting Nether will be better in those cases.
The thing about Defile is that this card is really cheap, which means you can use the rest of your mana crystals to combo it with minions/spells, so that you make a nice set-up. With this legendary you only have 3 mana left to spare, which are way too few to be realised successfully. I actually prefer to run Tainted Zealots or Bloodmage Thalnos (aka a 2-card combo) just because I care more about the cheap clear than the body itself.
The card isn't that special tbh. It doesn't offer something extremely new, which warlocks needed before. As stated by others as well - warlocks have enough tools to deal with annoying boards (Defile, Hellfire, Twisting Nether), two of which can be used in the early game, when aggro is at its peak. This is a one-off, so finding him won't be that easy.
I already mentioned N'Zoth. While cubelock has a win-condition, controllock needs better options against slower decks and losing N'Zoth will be a big hit to us. Yes, we still have Rin, but the power of that card was how you played her from a safe distance (behind unbreakable walls of Voidlords), so that you won't be pressured for playing the seals. Not to mention, that she is super slow and if you are falling behind board, your pathetic 2/2, 3/3 demons won't help you that much.
I will end the novel like this - Firebat talks about this issue and mentions the new warlock legendary as the answer, which made me think. Lord Godfrey is meta-dependent. If the meta consists of many aggro, mid-range or tempo decks, then he is a better N'Zoth, because he enters the board 3 turns earlier with an immediate defensive effect and can contest future minions as well. If we however encounter many slow decks, then N'Zoth's absence will hit us hard.
Continuing in Team 5's history of making top tier decks even stronger. They really are unwilling to hit the brake pedal once a class reaches critical mass.
