I didn't, since cards that generate value by giving you an extra card, proved themselves as viable. Whats the deal with this card? You play a bad 1 drop and your next secret is for free. 1. If your opponent plays around the secret, you don't gain any value/tempo. 2. You run out of cards. Nope, im sure, will not see any play since there are better 1 drops.
Sorry, but considering Mage secrets, it's really so useful to play this and a secret on turn 1?
Because it seems to me that Mage secrets are very powerful in mid/late game, except mirror entity I really shouldn't know what secret can be helpful on turn 1.
What am I missing?
Maybe a 1 Mana card can be played on later turns as well? I mean not everything has to be played on curve, just because the cost suggest it. You basically play your secret for 1 Mana troughout the game now, which means you pretty much can do whatever you want on the rest of your turn. Its a big tempo card.
And besides, there are plenty of scenarios where this card is LEAGUES above Babbling Book. For one, this card lets you Medivh's Valet turn 2, even if it is kind of unlikely.
Cards like this which have a super extreme best case scenario shouldn't be easily dismissed.
IT MAY have some limited use, but without something else I don't see it likely to be good or common. A 1 mana 2-1 is good but less useful to a Mage where a 1 attack creature can take out a 2 health minion (and get a spell) and wyrms can normally take out 3 health minions and survive. I believe the manawyrm and book will still be better most of the time. The time it shines requires a three card combo and every extra secret you add to make the combo more likely is a not very good card in your deck
THE playing a secret for free is nice but not amazing. Mysterious challenger and mad scientist were good because they pulled cards from your deck. Pulling cards from your hand would have made them far worse. So unless the remaining cards push a heavy secret archetype I don't see it being good enough to be common.
The manawyrm vs babbling book comparison ended up not mattering because there was plenty of space for two one drops, and book had good value later in the game too (potentially even in top deck mode as a chance for an extra good spell). Is there room for a third turn one card? And is saving two mana useful enough later in the game? This card may be better than book in the mid game but falls off again as your mana pool increases.
The valet thing is great, but it is a two card turn one combo requiring a turn two play on top. Do the secrets have enough value to be played after this card is burned? And does the combo gain that much over manawyrm into frostbolt or missiles or other cards? Many secrets could also be popped before you can valet so you can't rely on it unless it is something like ice block.
A great card card in a secret based deck but is a secret based deck viable?

I'm just saying that its very easy for this card to get out of control. Cards like that shouldn't be so easily dismissed as bad. We saw the same with Barnes.
This card is amazing. If Mage secrets only cost 1 mana (Paladin) then it would be a fair card... The fact that they cost 3 mana and are very strong is what makes this card OP - you're getting a body on the board and 3 mana worth of additional value.
1 mana cards can be very OP (think Tunnel Trog). I'm just wondering how you can fit Mana wyrm, Babbling Book and Kabal Lackey in the same deck?
And for those who think this card isn't great and won't see play? Look at how Cloked Huntress became a staple in most Hunter decks - even those that only ran a few secrets.
Crazy good for tempo. The value from the secret will probably be a little low when it's played so early, but it's not like Mage has any shortage of ways to fill the hand anew.

THEre is definitely potential here, especially if more synergy arrives. If you hit the combo it would be pretty good, if reliably hitting it is better than the book, but a three card combo on turn two is not easy to hit reliably. For it to be very good outside a secret based deck I think you need either a really good secret to be added (ideally one that would survive the opponent's turn reliably or be a really good turn one pop) or, even better, a fall back card if you don't hit the Valet so you have four shots to hit the last part of the combo rather than two making it much more reliable.
EDIT: On second thought, it sucks. Mage secrets can generate tempo only in the mid-late game. You don't want to waste your Mirror Entity on a Swashburglar.
This enables the Turn 2 Medivh's Valet. Obvious synergy.
If it's something like "Polymorph the next minion your opponent plays" then this card will see play everywhere.
Astonishing!
Thank you, thank you. I had a feeling. Seemed the only way to go with Mage secrets.
Although the second part (lackey will see play everywhere) I actually think was wrong. I don't think turn 1 two card combo to polymorph a 1 or 2 drop is very good.. so I think poor lackey won't see much use.
This card is a 1 mana 2/1 that gives you three mana. It is absolutely insane. The people bickering over what secret to use on turn 1 are so far off base it's comical. It costs ONE MANA. It does not have to be used on turn 1. The tempo generated by this card is insane.

Exactly!
Almost every card revealed so far has pages and pages of hate comments. They think it needs to be a 4 mana 8/8 to see any play... They obviously have no idea about card synergy, and the small things that can be very powerful.

Ridiculously effective deck:
Mana Wyrm, Coin, then this, and Counterspell. The tempo is real

I don't think secret mage is in the meta right now, but it does give the deck a nice boost.

The Might of Dalaran has Arrived!
Now if a mage had a secret like Cat in the Hat or Bear Trap this would be even better... Some way to develop a board presence beyond mirror entity.
