I see Tinkmaster Overspark becoming standard in decks, to counter this.
Gives all classes a polymporph, Mage gets either a 1/1 squirrel x2, or 2 5/5's (But still better than a Rag, etc.)
Since, this variety of mage decks will only go with one super strong minion on the board, the transform "Random Minion" debuff will work out very nicely I think.
Ok, I up to this point have held off of saying any particular card is broken or OP. I will not say this card is OP because we have not played it in game yet. I will say I can see this particular card may be broken in theory. I base my opinion on a constructed play view point. Let say we have 10 mana and we play this card and Archmage Antonidas. A good player would make sure that the Archmage is the only card on the field and thus the opponent is forced to decide whether or not to trigger the secret that may or may not give the mage back two Archmages that give them Fire balls like a boss.
I know that this example is a stretch and I know that this card can just as easily kill the tempo of a deck if used at the wrong time. But keep in mind how top player could use this card because they understand game tempo and I can see them making the use of this card scary. Also this will definitely be in control decks which play limited creatures on board and seek to control the board at the same time. It is my hope that we get another option in the rest of the cards that are coming out to help with secrets in the future. But overall I still like this card and can not wait to play with it. (YAYYYYY!)
This is definitely meant to make a Secrets Mage deck viable. Part of the problem with Secret Mage focused decks at the moment is that running more then 2 usually means you're light on minions and in this meta the Mage AOE comes too late.
As others have mentioned, Duplicate looks like we'll actually be able to do a real Mage Secret deck and is meant to combo specifically with Kirin Tor. For those who haven't experimented much with Kirin Tor, my experience is that she's one of the best 3 drops in the game. You can't leave a 4/3 on the board. It's too much damage. Now you actually have a real risk in removing her though so she's a real tempo play even on an empty board.
Think of Kirin Tor as a 3 drop 4/3 with a conditional innervate built in. With 7 secrets now to choose from she's not nearly as conditional.
There is always gonna be a counter to everything... Imagine you play Duplicate turn three as a setup and you intend to follow it up with Yeti or coined Azure the next turn.... sounds pretty good, until you play that versus a Rogue who has his weapon equipped from earlier and just plays YOLO Leeroy turn 4, swings you for 6 damage and then uses the weapon to murder one of the hatchlings.... Youre pretty much forced to use the surviving hatchling and your hero power to kill the Leeroy. And unless you have a decent two-drop, the only thing left to do is to play those two hatchlings you have duplicated ( one of which will die to rogue weapon anyway ) - so your entire turn 3 and turn 4 are worth zilch and youre down by 6 health.
Yes, because with Vaporize and Mirror Entity, the rogue would be excited to go for face in turn 4 with Leeroy…
It's actually funny that you choose Arcane Intellect because I think the new Mage Secret and Arcane Intellect are pretty comparable, pay 3 mana get 2 cards.
The secret is a bit worse. You don't have to lose a minion on the board to get your two new cards with Arcane Intellect.
It is like arcane intellect, except you can control what you draw!I see mage secret agroo with kirin tor mage and vaporize/this/spellbender/mirror entity/counterspell.
I think countering this secret can be quite easy. Just turn a minion into a frog/sheep/squirrel, then kill it. Or just summon your Leroy and kill one of the whelps.
AOE Dupping will probably follow the same rules as Redemption, which is the priority is first minion played with an effect (battle cry, etc), if none, then first minion played, if none then first minion summoned.
Not sure if this is a better card then counterspell/spellbinder
However I think only flare, polymorph and hex can truly counter it.
It doesnt really do much vs warlock zoo or hunter though or other aggro decks since they are ignoring your creatures anyways, and as people said secrets only work on opponent's turn.
ExPretty cool new card. will work great with deathrattle theme of Naxxramas. Definitely has ways around it. If i were playing shaman or mage mirror, I would sheep/hex the minion they were hoping to get copied and kill that. enjoy your 2 1 mana cost sheep or 0/1 taunts.
As far as combos for mage and its usefulness, cards with battlecries will be good like Kirin Tor. Will be great for agrro/rush deck builds. low-cost cards will be great as well, I'm thinking Sorcerer's Apprentice becomes a must-use.
Except turns out it was Counterspell and not Duplicate. You just blew 4 mana son.
Smells like a setup for a generic Flare effect minion. I wanted to say this card died the same time Eye for and Eye and Redemption did, but, this card seems objectively more powerful by quite a margin.
Just make a legendary hunter from WoW lore (can't really think of one besides rexxar at the moment lol, maybe tyrande or something i have no idea?) that does "battlecry: reveals all stealthed minions and destroys all secrets" so it would be for both players not just your opponents
This card is slightly overpowered. If it was released for any other class that might be a problem but Mage is the least played deck for competitive play the only difference is for arena where Mage is already the best and an auto pick secret is absolutely incredible.
In constructed, you can't realistically expect to recast Cairnes or even Yetis and survive. On the other hand it seems to fill the aggro mage shell fairly well, it's probably better at refilling the hand than arcane intellect because the tempo loss can be nullified with Kirin Tor Mage.
you are seriously stalking me on other forums and copying my posts right bub? lololol That is exactly what I said on a group thread in facebook.
Guys, guys, this is NOT overpowered! This is a aggro specific card, that wont do much good in control, it is strong indeed: IN AGGRO DECKS! Leper gnomesz gais, GNOMEZS!

Considering how no one uses Tink to counter the Miracle Gadgetzan, I think you overestimate its chances.

Poetic.

BTW in case of AOE which minion you will get in hand? Left most, right most?
its way too much for a common card

I see this as being one hell of a Mage aggro card as well as mage control, if they ever figure that out again. The possibilities are huge.
Not sure if this is a better card then counterspell/spellbinder

Not sure if hyped yet.

Blizz needs to make a neutral minion that gets rid of secrets, it's been long overdue, it's ridiculous that hunter is the only class that can do it
