I think the deck is OK without it, but you'll find it very helpful to stave off turn 7 Mage board clear, Turn 8 Call of the Wild vs Hunter and prevent Priest from clearing your patrons. It can buy you that extra turn you need for lethal.
One thing about the Wild Ladder....its full of Priests :(
I have noticed the same thing. I would love wild except for all the stupid N'Zoth priests. I play many different decks, and have not been able to beat them. They control, remove, and steal all your shit, and outvalue everything.
Hi i have a quick question, i googled it, but couldnt find anything. Do you get the golden epic if you reach rank 5 in Wild?
Btw congrats to legend
Thanks! And yes, you get the Gold Epic for reaching Rank 5 in Wild. In fact, the chest awards are identical to standard.
The highest rank you reach in either standard or wild mode determines the reward chest, and it does not matter if you drop some ranks later.
So if you reach rank 4 in wild and then drop back down to rank 8 near the end of the month, and in standard you only reach rank 9, you get the rank 4 chest.
Yes.

Thanks for the kudos guys -- my Battle Tag is Goose Snack. There's only so many of us on Wild, so it's good to see you guys around here.
I actually played Secret Paladin for a good while, but I'm embarrassed to say that after about 200 games I was stuck around Rank 4 (I think my win rate was barely 51%). The deck really isn't that good in the meta because so many people play decks that counter it, with the addition of Eater of Secrets. The N'Zoth Priest is very good, but the games were too slow for me, and I found it frustrating to lose after a 20 minute match.
As for Brawl, I did see some Patron decks run the card. I didn't bother because I rarely hit aggro decks. Those two Zoo decks I faced in the end were anomalies.
People have become so sick and tired of Paladin that they are teching in 1-2 eater of secrets. Others are running spellbreaker, ooze, Harrison, even blood knight. Even with decks countering Paladin, he's still 15-30% of the meta depending on the time and day. I also noticed some Paladins are running Nzoth instead of Boom so they can res their entire board of creepers, shredders, belchers and tirion. Nzoth is an "I win" card even more than Boom if you survive to turn 10. Board clears don't work well due to their stickiness. The meta is mostly aggro, so its a shock you didn't hit many zoos.
Wonder when will people learn eater of secrets does absolutely nothing, it's a complete useless card, even vs secret paladin, you win by board control, same as before.
I found the Secret Paladin player!
We're not falling for your tricks. Every time I've cast Eater of Secrets after Mysterious Challenger, I've won that game. Coincidence? Possibly, but I would say unlikely.

I played Secret Paladin last season to finish my golden portrait and there were definitely games where even with Eater of Secrets coming after Mysterious Challenger i could just steamroll from my already established board control.

*rolls eyes* Wouldn't touch that deck with a ten foot pole. Anyone capable knows Eater of Secrets is pure garbage, if your board was empty and his was full when MC came down, you lost either way, wow, you got 2 mana left ? his board is full, and you got a "big" minion that gets countered by a million things in his deck, or just ignored, while he proceeds to bash your face in. You had a board ? and he has none and MC comes down ? congrats, you won the game, you didn't need Eater of Secrets in the first place, let alone it making your other matchups a lot worse because of having dead cards in your deck. You win by playing patiently and smart vs them, or by playing decks that completely counter'em, like Freeze or Control Priest. By all means, keep using it though if you think it's good.

I had a secret Pally concede after I ate five of his secrets. That single card alone improves your matchup by 10% vs. secret Pally. It also helps immensely vs. freeze mage and is decent vs. hunter too. 75% of players now run eater of secrets because secret Pally is so common in the wild meta. Even secret Pallies are running it too lol!

Considering you don't know the potential the card has and I do by experiencing multiple wins (and no losses) after playing it in the ideal scenario, could you explain to me how I'm the clueless one? To me it seems like you couldn't actually refute what I said (given that it's anecdotal) and chose to sidestep the point instead by projection.
Also being an "asshole" is subjective. I think pretty highly of you, for an anonymous person anyway.
Yeah I played secret pally last season and never once lost a game where eater was played. In my personal experience it's a win more card. I did run one copy but it was often dead - I got the most use out of it against other classes. As a pally I'd usually just ignore eater and win.
Yup, people read the Battlecry or use it in a game they already won and think WOW i so countered that guy with my op tech card, when you could have had a better card in your deck that actually helps you win and isn't dead in all other matchups. Look at the stats, look at it's cost. I remember seeing a podcast like 2 weeks ago where Firebat and some other streamers/casters were talking about Wild, when Eater came up in discussion everyone agreed that the card is pure garbage and not worth running,

That's because the card is bad in most matchups. But against secrets, it's awesome and potentially game-winning. Considering I've had great success with it, I know it's not "garbage". It's a dead card in some matchups, but those matchups are fine with a dead card. Control Warrior is incredibly strong still.
I did play Eater of Secrets against Secret Pally right after Mysterious Challenger, several, several times, and won because of it. The curve is part of it. The secrets are part of it. The luck is part of it. I can stop one of those 3 factors with a single card, so why wouldn't I? Until I start to see no Midrange Hunters, Freeze Mages, and Secret Paladins in my deck, I'll keep teching the single Eater of Secrets.
Remember, one man's trash is another man's treasure. There have been several instances of "trash cards" being an integral part of tournament winning decks in MTG that seemingly came from nowhere. I mean, Eater of Secrets is no Astral Slide, but I'm just saying it has a use, and for that one, narrow, specific, particular use, it's pretty damn good. Again, I still haven't lost a game against Secret Paladin when I played Eater of Secrets immediately after Mysterious Challenger.
