It's incredibly luck based. Of course you get favored against aggro but in control vs control like in the brawl its a matter of luck.
Control vs control, maybe. But if your deck is build around high cost minions, it has nothing to do with luck. If you play high cost minions in your deck it's safe to say you might win most of the jousts against control decks.
You can't play a deck with only super expensive minions. You still need low cost cards or you'll just get run over by aggro before you can play your jousts.
Both decks are garbage, to the point where a deck with only basic cards would easily win. So it feels awful playing either side honestly. The lack of early game for hunter does suck though. King's Elekk and Animal Companion are the best early card (tracking is alright for drawing them), but using your garbage spells early feels awful because you know you will need them in order to close the game with Lock and Load.
Seriously though, who designed that Hunter deck? It's so poorly made, I think a basic hunter deck is better than that one. It's so unfair it has no 1 cost minions, but then it has that Elephant 3/2 that is really bad, other than that you are just sitting there praying your mage opponent got a crappy hand so you can stall until turn 5 and a up to actually start dropping good minions, if not, well, Well played because the mage is gonna have a bunch of buffed up inspired guys by turn 5.
Don't even get me started on that Legendary 4/2 Acidmaw... Wow, just wow.
King's Elekk is probably one of the best 2-mana minions in the game. 3/2 is a good body, beast tribe has synergy with various hunter things, and 40-50% chance to get a card from your deck is a very strong ability too.
I think that the problem of the deck wasnt lack of early game, i think that a deck with master jouster in it should be like that. The problem was the lack of ways to prolong the game or deal with the opponents early game, in other words the deck needed more: Heals, weapons, AoEs, taunts. Also, the mage inspire deck was full of synergy while the hunter deck lacked syngergy.
Not really, it is possible to win with Alleria.. however you need take control of the board early. Mulligan for king elekk, arcane shot, call companion. Mage definetly easier. This brawl however not so disbalanced as Ragna vs Nefarian
I'm no scrub (rank 5 right now) Currently 3-0 with Mage and 0-6 with Hunter.
Maybe it's just bad luck but I feel totally overwhelmed as the Hunter. I've never once been able to control the board. Mage's ping or double stength ping is just so much better than my 2 damage to the face in this control matchup.
I got hunter 1st try, pretty much went face and won lol ... got mage 2nd try, played board control and hunter couldnt do shit, guess it depends on draw. Didnt play much after that.

Maybe you just suck at the game? I played 4 with hunter and didn't lose once. Also, Acidmaw + Unleash the Hounds is a great board clear.
I think the hunter deck is slightly worse though I've only play 15 games I went 6-2 with the mage and 4-3 with the hunter. I can say that my hunter wins were a lot closer than my mage wins though. The mage deck feels more synergistic while the hunter deck is more about card for card value and drawing. The hunter deck is also reliant on A) Jousts (Always Elekk vs Frost Giant Never Lucky), B) Ram Wrangler/Webspinner RNG, C) Animal Companion RNG and D) Lock and Load RNG so I can see how that could be really frustrating even if the average outcome is only slightly unfavorable.
Hunter is really strong if you get the elekk, the arcane shot and the companion - so the early game cards. But my god, did I had to concede plenty of games where I had no plays to make before turns 5 or even 6, and it was infuriating.
I'm surprised, though, to still see many people play the mage as control, not realising that they are the beatdown against this lategame-strong hunter deck. They keep trading and trading and then surprised that the hunter takes the lategame.
After some 40 games in brawl i say its pretty much balanced. However Alerias Deck is more skill dependant and unforgiving. It kinda plays like rogue one missplay in the first turns or wrong mulligan can cost you the game but if you know how to play the deck its gets even.
However as the Rag/Nef encounter those 2 Deck events will always favour one deck its almost impossible to design two exact same decks in strengh. the balance of this game comes over diversity. Deck A beats Deck B, deck B beats deck C and deck C beats deck A.
Maybe it would have been better to throw 1 or 2 more decks in the mix and let the gamers chose, however i like the brawl and some of the new cards.
Joust is too RNG defendant. If you joust and get lucky you win.
I disagree, it's more like "if you joust and you're unlucky you get wrecked pretty bad" even at that, when I was playing medivh my opponent was unlucky enough for me to get frost giant almost every joust and they still beat me.

Well i really doubt that you keep high mana cost cards in your opening hand.
They're kinda the same to me, no one seems stronger tbh
You can't stop the signal.

The OP is an exaggeration, but the people claiming that the decks are roughly even are either being disingenuous or haven't played enough games.
I'm like 15-2 with mage, and about 5-10 with hunter. The mage deck is just better—better curve, more synergy, and fewer garbage cards.
Maybe you just suck at the game? I played 4 with hunter and didn't lose once. Also, Acidmaw + Unleash the Hounds is a great board clear.
OP has definitely earned their title of Angry Chicken.
I am 2-0 with hunter.
hunters is fine, mage is fine , have plenty of wins with both. learn to play yo

First few matches got stomped by the joust deck and when I got to play it myself I wrecked Medivh's.

I'm actually always like "Aw fuck I have to play mage" when I get it.
I really prefer the hunter deck, it feels much more decision based while the mage deck just kinda plays minions and that's about it.
