[Deep Inhale] I feel like were I to leave this on a Facebook group, I would expect half the answers would be, "GiT gUd" or even a fraction of the helpfulness. But I've reached such a point of utter frustration I can't keep it down anymore, and need to vent it somewhere.
I have been a long-time player, since the Grand Tournament, or thereabouts. I've managed to slowly, over the years, learn to climb the ladder, until eventually, during the early Un'Goro days, I hit Rank 16 (the game that won me that rank was against a rather salty individual).
But Rank 16. That was a huge achievement for me! I'd only ever been stuck in 20, or if I was fortunate enough, 18. I managed to hit rank 15 or 14 after that! It was the best feeling! I could get so far in Ranked, and I aspired to go even farther!
Now back to the present, and every deck I've used that's part of the meta hasn't even gotten me close to passing 17. Soon as I hit 17, it's like a wall just rises up and denies me from getting any further. No matter what deck I try, it ends up being against a deck that counters or controls. And honestly, I want more. I want to get past 17 again. But no matter what I play, how I play it, when I play, the opponent just counters me. It feels like I'm not even allowed past Rank 17 any.
And I wouldn't come to a forum full of other experts with this problem, my pride has been through enough and all I can do is just ask for help in the matter. Surely, I'm not the only one who's suffered this frustration too long?
If you don’t already, I would use a deck tracker and start thinking more about you can improve your own plays. It’s easier to say the opponent got lucky than it is to admit we could have played better. Obviously luck and RNG play a factor, but over a large sample size, if you are still not able to climb to Rank 15 and beyond, you are not likely making optimal plays.
If you have the standard lists for Bomb Warrior/Bomb Hunter, just play those decks over and over again. Practice with just a few highly competitive decks and you'll get the results eventually. Watching replays of your own losses can also help.
Can you actually say more about the decks you use, how many games you play a month, how many games you play with a deck before changing to the next one.
If you can provide as much info about your playstyle as possible it will be much better to point out what mistakes you're doing as going past 17 should never ever be a problem with any deck really given enough games played.
You say you've played for a long time, but that's not going to improve your game very much if you don't have a good grasp of the basics. You literally have no way of knowing when you've made mistakes if you haven't been told the correct way to do things and why.
Have you watched instructional videos?

If you’ve been playing for that long, your collection is decent. So money is not the answer.
Here are a few suggestions that have helped me.
1. Pick one deck and stick with it. A major part of laddering is learning your matchups very well. There are tons of little tricks that you need to know against every other class. And if you keep bouncing around, you never learn those tricks.
2. Once, you’ve picked a deck, read about it. Like a bunch. Google your deck and 12+ articles will come up. Read them. Experts are happy to teach you how to play your deck better and give you insight into the matchups that seem tough.
3. Every game, find a mistake that you made. People like to blame RNG for losses. But it’s important to reflect in every match, and think through your lines of play and find an example where you made a mistake. Analyze why it was a mistake and how your could have played better. Did you over commit into a board clear? Maybe you traded when you should have gone face, or vice versa? Were you always counting how much damage until lethal? Did you maybe play cards in the wrong order or make sub-optimal trades? Did you consider what your opponent’s best play was for the next turn and then try to make that difficult for them to accomplish?
There are a million little ways a game could’ve been played better and they all matter.
4. If you’ve been playing for 4 years, you probably have a decent wild collection. Give that a try to blow off steam. Wild ranks 20-10 are a blast because there are one million decks floating around.
Try wild. Playing standard got quite dull for me, had the same feeling that I always got countered and facing the same decks over and over.. (Lately I played a few standard games and I faced Mage a lot). If you play since TGT I assume you got some wild cards so give maybe Wild a try. I know that Wild is full of the same decks, which some of them are really disguisting (Hi Big Priest, lucky that Blizz NEEDS SOME MORE FUCKING DATA), but in the lower ranks (below 5 or 10) you face a lot of different decks imo.

Is there anyone else to help me?
if your serious about getting better, I would be more than happy to help you out. We can friend each other and I will watch you play a few games to see how your thinking process works when you make certain plays. Then we can fix those problems and helpo you get over an obvious mental block that you have as well! You mention this a few times in your post, and subconscious beliefs about life determine our outcomes if we dont use our cponscious mind to direct them.
If you believe you cant get past a certain rank, then you wont.
Once you realize climbing the ladder is about consistency, knowing your opponents deck, and playing to your outs, your game will improve drastically.
I could help you if you'd like. We could do some voiced games together and discus everything turn by turn. Im free tomorrow and friday.
If you're on the eu server, send me a private message.
I've hit legend over a 30 times as a f2p player. Anyone who says this game is pay to play is a lazy sack of bones thats blames their lack of skills to something silly as money. Hook me up if you'd like.

well i don´t know if you are more the sort of an aggro or control player. but i have a nice control warrior deck that have a decent winrate on lower ranks (standing 16-3 now from rank 20 up to 12). i know it´s nothing special but you can give it a try at least. nevertheless, i wish you good luck on your grind.
ohh and i just drop my decklist down here. feel free to give it a shot ^^
All you need to get to better rank is practice, meta knowledge(what every deck has so you can counter it before it even appears) and any deck that has a win condition and tools to deal with basic treats in current meta.
Odds are you’re not playing nearly as well as you think you are. A good way to gauge the level of your play is to watch vods of top players, pause the video at the start of each turn, write down what you would do and then i pause and watch what the player actually does.
understandable why you are stucking. Here is my advice:
1: Watch stream, especially from tryhard players. It's important, since a small move could change the whole game. Don't just watch, see the difference and analyse why he did that, what move should he make, what move should he have against certain types of deck, and mulligan.
2: if this could not help, you need a friend, or a coach, who helps you improve your skills, and question your decisions. Once I entered high school, one of my friend was at rank 19 or so. Hard stuck, and legit no interest in ranking since he got demolished constantly. He had lots of cards, but the deck is not complete. For the first time, he reached rank 10, and few months later he got rank 5 with my help.
3: Playing aggressive: Less decision making (because you have less cards in your hand), and at lower rank, people are easier to make mistakes. From this perspective, you can see an aggro's point of view, and see if you play control, how can you play against yourself when playing aggro. You represent the average of your rank, so compare yourself is really helpful.
4: Best thing about you is the patience. You have played for so long, but still stuck in rank 17, that's quite an effort to keep you staying at the game. Many people I witnessed have stopped playing HS since their skill could not improve by time. Use that with little help from other is the best.
2) Read ALL the statistics and play according both to them and your own experience.
3) Stick with the deck
4) Use deck tracker and WATCH your own games
5) Pause to think before every move you make, roping each turn is fine :). View all your options and think about the play's current effect and its long term effect : Synergies with your hand? with cards in your deck? How it effects the board? What answers could your opponent have to this play? What cards would he play? How will he trade? (best case, worst case and most likely scenario). For example- buffs- which card do I buff and why? if i buff the 3/4 that was originally a 1/2 a silence effect would be devastating but if I buff the 2/1 and he silences the 3/4 I keep this buff (yeay). Another example- I got two Mountain Giants on board (playing Conjurer's Calling mage)- Do I put more minions on the board? More minions= more damage but more minions = more risk in Brawls and more value for your opponent in brawls (playing vs control warrior).
5) in game and when watching replays pay attention to what you could have done better (when watching you get more knowledge about opponent's hand etc. earlier in the game- check for better plays- maybe you could have guessed the warrior might have brawl and played around that for example).
6) change according to what you learn from watching --> improve
tips- don't let losses "tilt" you- they are a part of the game and are the best way to actually improve (this doesn't mean you shouldn't watch replays of your wins!) always remain calm- that way you play better , the more you play the faster you improve , thinking equals winning
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: don't focus too hard on improving, ranking and winning if it makes you enjoy the game less, enjoying the game should always remain your highest priority when playing or else you will find in boring soon enough and won't improve as much when you start playing less because of this.
Hopes this helps, if you need anything else add me as a friend in game (you can find my battletag in my profile). I'd be happy to watch some of your games and give you some tips :)
Go for bomb hunter. It's top meta. There's really nothing hard with that deck, you just play a one mana card on turn one, a two mana card on turn two, and so on and so forth.
Deciding when to trade and when to go face can be a bit tricky but if you just go face the whole time and play on curve you should be able to reach at least rank 15. As it's top meta, if you play it well you can reach legend with that deck.
I find the deck boring to play precisely because there are no decisions to make, but the good side is that it really is easy to play and it's probably the best ladder deck of the moment.

How to climb ranks in Hearthstone? Pay money of course!
Or just play token druid.
You can also do a ritual and sacrifice your dignity and play bomb warrior.
