Just wanted to share my excitement for reaching legend first time ever. I played since end of closed beta, and due to lack of time always finished between rank 2-5(and rarely at 1). This time I had a pretty good winrate, so I climbed faster than I did earlier. Meta at ranks 2-legend is full of druids and CW, and shaman really destroys those. Christmas pally is better match-up for this deck than my august version, due to ferals. Here is my decklist:
Well, I am kind of person who played only shaman in all ranked seasons, even in grim times of 2 mana buzzard+2 mana unleash madness. :D Thanks anyway! :D
Nice man, however I'm a bit skeptical. Shaman is not a tier 1 class, do you mind posting proof? I would think that the deck will get much more attention that way.
Grats and in a time where shaman is considered unplayable.
No, its not. Stop saying bullshit.
Is shaman unplayable? - No. Shaman can reach legend? - Yes. Is shaman still worse than other top decks/classes? - Yes.
Pretty much, Shaman is ladder viable at the moment due to a lot of CW, druid and mages(that this deck beats easy(70% vs tempo mages)). I wouldn't recommend playing shaman in heavy paladin metas, though I am kind of crazy person that would play shaman either way. :D
Just curious but how is shaman favored against druid and CW??
Btw congratz. It is quite a feat to hit legend with shaman despite the circumstances. However, I think you were a bit lucky with your matchups. The fact that secret paladin and patron are 2 most popular matchups and shaman are unfavored automatically eliminates shaman.
You have superior early game, good removal and druids have poor comeback mechanics. While vs cw, it's mostly how you play the deck, you play around brawl well, remove their threats efficiently and you run them out of gas and win in fatigue at least. Most control warriors I know call midrange shaman their best counter, and I tend to agree(if played well shaman should be 80%+ favoured).
As for patron, I have around 55-60 percent wins, but that is because I have ooze. Maybe its the fact that I just outplay them, because outside of top legend ranks, patron is misplayed a lot.
I faced 2 patrons and 3 secret paladins (won vs all of paladins suprisingly) in about 15 games, but I agree I got lucky and hit a good meta spot to get legend.

It is considered unplayable. It absolutely is considered by many to be unplayable. I never said they were right. I in fact was praising OP for proving that that consideration wrong.

No, it's not. Again. You're just making stuff. It may be considered bad by some rank 26 players may be, but as a guy above said shaman is really good against CW, druid and okay vs most warlocks and it's like more than a half of current ladder on high ranks.
Also, don't you think that "unplayable" is kinda too harsh for a word?
Congratulations on hitting Legend. And most importantly - hats off to you for doing it with Shaman. I love the class and been trying to ascend the ladder with it, but I just got too frustrated to continue so I switched.
Good job on staying strong and not giving up on the class!
I am not a fan of healing in shaman(maybe healbot, but that's it), it only helps vs hunters, while rest of aggro is board based. Shaman wins vs hunter by controlling the board and outracing the opponent with your bigger minions. Common case vs hunter is that you have around 2-3 turns after turn 6 to beat him, match-up is 50-50 and it depends how much dmg did hunter get in during first few turns. Vs aggro mulligan for 1 mana stuff, 2 drops and ferals if you have the coin (coin into ferals can be a good play if you have a 1 mana spell or chow, otherwise it's not good to coin ferals).
Key though is playing aggressive for the board, for example turn 5 valiant vs aggro and druids (since they can't remove it well) is perfectly fine, and is a huge magnet to remove. If I ran into more zoo, 2nd valiant would be a belcher probably though. If you are playing vs paladin, I suggest playing bgh instead of 1 tuskar maybe to counter avenged Mysterious challenger if you don't have hex in hand, but I like playing with TgT tools so I like to try to make 2x tuskar work. BGH also counters the bane of shamans - Dr boom. Tuskars are mvps vs druids, since in first 2 turns druids a lot of the times have empty board.

Same like you, I got like 70% win rate from rank 4 to Legend. CW and Druid easy peasy, freeze mage 100% winrate(7 games), only secret paladins and mid-range paladins was over me(got like 55% winrate). So yeah, Shaman love again.
Deck list is here but in this meta it's trash. Last season was OpieOP :D

I was around rank 2 right at the moment when secret paladin got discovered and became like 30% of the meta, got to rank 1, but due to tilt playing+not wanting to change cards dropped to rank 5. Managed to get back to rank 1 last day, but didn't have strength to play more. I made it this season, and it was even easier to climb then at first 3 days of tgt suprisingly, or maybe I just got better playing vs secret paladin and teched properly. It only took me 4-5 days of 2-3 hrs/day playing from rank 5 to legend, and last few days I had like 80% winrate due to meta I was facing.

Gratz man, i know that feel of getting close every season. Give us hopes for us casuals to reach the dream.
THE LEGEND!!!! (not really)
Congratulations, you make all of us shamans very happy about our class :D

You got legend with shaman? You deserve permanent legend think you're the first one since the shaman bots with sea giants disappeared.
