I'm thinking about taking my Jade Druid deck on the ladder, and I'd like to know how dealing with decks with Skulking Geist in them should affect how I play the game.
What decks are most likely to use this card, and what are good strategies to deal with it?
No one is running Skulking Geist because it turns out the main problems with JadeDruid are just the Jades themselves, and we were all kinda stupid for blaming Jade Idol in particular (myself included).
Just play the tempo game and probably win anyway, as you have Ultimate Infestation? The turn your opponent plays Geist is usually the turn they regret, as you can just play a bunch of Jades and win on board without Idol.
Beating geist is easy. Just play all your idols for golems if you suspect your opponent is running it and beat them down with a tempo game. Don't run auctioneer or cycle centric lists that focus on shuffling infinite idols
As for what decks run them, I've seen them in most mages and some priest/paladin so far
i will told you what the other guy do when i tech it in my deck:
just ramp as fast as you can. if you do good, at her turn 6 you will have 10 mana. then infest her geist (it is a meh/bad card anyway, don't gain stats, it is expensive and usually you draw too late) o nuke it and keep ramping. if you have malfurion the pestilent, you can keep pressing her to death

Wrong
hes not wrong Skulking Geist is a bad card people are not going to run one card to counter one specific deck and then youre not certain to win against jades
I see skulking geist in every control deck almost. It's a horrible card for any other deck except control which has a good chance to win against Jade Druid (I myself have almost 70% winrate against Jade Druids with my highlander priest).
Do you think one card should shut down an entire deck? That's just stupid. You can't be certain you will against jades but what Skulking Geist does is improve your odds significantly.
I just crafted Malorne for my wild N'zoth Jade druid to really troll the people hating on infinite value. It's an terrible card and a terrible way to 'counter' geist but I'm doing it for the meme value

Never understood why people call malorne terrible. It's overstatted and can singlehandedly win games against grindy control decks.

I don't particularly like the whole jade druid theme only because I don't play the druid class myself. I frankly don't see how people are having trouble beating it, (my control pally kinda dumps on it lmao). Anyway, my real comment was to highlight the Malorne inclusion in your deck. Much props and respect towards using a card that isn't ranked efficient unlike the braindead 8 year-olds that net deck like robot zombie unicorns.
Precisely. The infinite value was the problem for other control decks. If they didn't manage to apply sufficient early pressure (which is hard for control), they can't even retake the board with their board clears because of the cheap jade idols spitting out huge minions non stop. At least this way, they have a fighting chance.

Stand alone, it's a great card but the fact that it's a class legendary in a class that both lacks the tools for a competitive attrition archetype and already has more powerful infinite value options in jades makes it much, much worse. It's also a terrible fit for any jade deck specifically but like I said, I put it there for fun
Jade Idol is still a huge problem, it's just that skulking geist isn't the answer we were looking for. On top of that they got massive new early game defense and later game draw tools.

At 7 mana you don't look for stats, you look for an immediate effect on board, which Malorne doesn't have.

Ignore it completely and probably win anyway.

Yay another jade Druid player..
It's very rare to see anyone play it, because:
1. It doesn't even make you autowin vs Druid or anything, so not that good
2. It's an epic, so people won't be really crafting it (especially so early in the expansion) to counter jade druid a tiny bit
So it just seems like it's better to run some card to support your deck instead of countering jade druid with skulking geist
Even if someone does play it i don't think it's possible to tell before they drop it, so just don't play around it at all!

Skulking Geist doesn't stop Jade Druid so much as it stops infinite value from Jade Idol .

Three steps for Druid dealing with Geist:
1) Laugh at your opponent's naïveté for thinking Geist will make any difference
2) Thank Blizzard for giving you Ultimate Infestation - the most broken card in Hearthstone history
3) Proceed to demolish your opponent so badly that they uninstall Hearthstone
