I'm trying to determine whether pre-ordering is worth it. I pre-ordered Boomsday but in hindsight I don't think it was a great idea as few cards from Boomsday were actually playable on ladder. I have 5k gold, it seems to be more than enough - there aren't 9 playable heroes to auto-craft for example, I find the legendaries and in particular the Loas very underwhelming.
So far I'd say the good cards are Cannon Barrage (epic), Raiding Party (rare) and Sharkfin Fan (common), pirate rogue looks to be playable and I will definitely try it. Belligerent Gnome (rare) seems pretty good and Firetree Witchdoctor (rare) could be good if dragons make a comeback. Zentimo (legendary) could be a nice addition to Shudderwock shaman, not convinced yet. And that's it. Am I being too pessimistic? After Boomsday most of the top meta decks didn't gain a single card and remained the top meta decks, looks to me like the same thing will happen here.
I know, lots of cards not revealed yet but still. If the good cards are all in the final reveal it's not very good marketing...
You pre-order is up until like 1 day before the expansion comes out, so if you're unsure now, just wait until they reveal the whole thing and make up your mind then. So far I'm liking the Heal Paladin archetype they're pushing + whatever Spell stuff Shaman gets.
i can't tell you if you SHOULD preorder, only thing i can confirm for 5 expansion in a row now (where i didn't spend a single cent on the game) that you don't NEED to buy any packs with real money. i have about 90-95% of all the cards i would've gotten anyway or just bought with dust in about 2 months. at least you have something to play for, also this way the game doesn't get stale after a week or 2...
I guess it also depends on the long game. Those boomsday cards might seem pretty meh now. You may see more of them in play come next rotation. However you do have time to get the RR cards you want before that happens
I think the Boomsday expansion was not a successful one (yet), because they tried and pushed a long-forgotten tribe (the mechs) and it just wasn't good enough. We might see more mechs in 2019 tho, which will make the magnetic shenanigans maybe a thing.
On the other side, Rastakhan is promoting more successful synergies, like pirates, dragons, beasts. The class "spirits" are also a really cool idea, to be honest. Also, they have said, that they want to make powerful decks around rares (ie: more accessible for the F2P-player cards) and not the "legendary-heavy" decks), which will make your 5k gold and some smart-crafting probably enough to make some T1-T2 decks.
So, all in all I really think, that Rastakhan's rumble will be the best HS expansion for 2018 and it's cards will make an impact for the whole 2019. Howerver, this is my personal opinion and you should consider also, how deep is your wallet and if you want to spend cash on the game or not (I somehow think, the Rastakhan's pre-order is the worst one in terms of value for your money (I don't have any data tho, I have pre-ordered everything this year and it's just a feeling that now, I am getting, in total, less packs for my money).

If i have that amount of gold abd only care about comp ladder u shouldn't pre order. Now if u wanna have the best chance of having lots of cards so u can try those decks that the streamers play that are niche and hard to pilot than preorder is what u want. Example i wanted to run a big wallet warrior but i cant. Big druid bit i cant. They arent comptetitve but they seem fun as hell when everything clicks
I'm not sure how much attention you've been paying, but basically Hunter is going to rule the meta for quite some time, as if it's not already happening. Revenge of the Wild out of 1203 votes, only 6 have voted to dust it.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll probably pass on this expansion then.
On top of that I'm just a casual player, to achieve results I tend to focus on just one deck at a time to have the time to master it, and because of that I've got the cards for a lot of great decks that I don't even have the time to play - over the last few months I just played even warlock, odd paladin and even paladin and I didn't play even shaman, odd rogue, zoo warlock, spell hunter, token druid, deathrattle rogue, control priest, odd warrior to name a few, even though I have all the cards.

Out of revealed cards worth crafting so far:
Legendaries:
Zentimo - will be shaman staple almost in any deck.
Oondasta - will probably see play in hunter and beast ramp druid.
Wardruid Loti - will be druid staple once Oaken Summons rotates.
Epics:
Master's Call - Eventually will see play in midrange hunter or beast based odd hunter.
Smolderthorn Lancer - if dragon warrior is good enough.
Masked Contender - Secret hunter staple.
Crowd Roaster - probably will be a 1 off in dragon decks, but I'm not too high on this card.
Stampeding Roar - I think this will be that quiet broken as hell card of the expansion. Will bring beast ramp druid into the spotlight.
Sul'thraze - Will be a staple in pirate/tempo warrior decks if they get more support, underrated card.
I'm not too high on other Legendaries/epics, some depend on the strength of the archetype like say discard warlock or heal paladin.
Overall the strength of the expansion is pretty on par with boomsday, I don't think preorder is worth it.
