My day one Scholomance deck list, will include a full write up after playing more games. Hit legend with an 85% win rate from rank 4 1 star.
Mind Blast and Prophet Velen are bad in wild and you shouldn't run either of them in your priest list unless you're trying to tech for disruption of Spawn of Shadows, which ruins consistency of your draw especially with the new addition of Lorekeeper Polkelt. The burst from Spawn of Shadows is way more then enough to win games and Prophet Velen / Mind Blast are completely dead cards in the early to mid game and offer no utility besides the combination of Velen + Spirit Lash. TLDR: Valen + Mindblast will lower your win rate because they lower the consistency of your draw by diluting your deck with low value cards.
im running both, also spawn of shadows and velen+mind blast+ that minion who give you 1/1 copy. if i have all 3 of this minions + emperor it give you one turn 20 dmg. and it won many games for me even without anduin.
I find Mindflayer an odd choice in this deck. Can you explain?
It's a card I included to fight for the board in the early to mid game. Against secret mage it can help by proccing Explosive Runes while keeping a minion alive to fight board. Against discard lock, it can stick a Felstalker on curve or a Doomguard / Nightshade Matron later on. Against the mirror it can copy some draw cards like Bloodmage Thalnos, Acolyte of Pain or Northshire Cleric to contest them while also providing me cycle once it dies. Against a deck like Cubelock it allows me to copy a cheated Voidlord or Enhanced Dreadlord to help me stall towards my Combo/Removal. Overall I think it has its place in the deck and it's a solid card that contests the board to keep you alive, while also providing some utility and even baiting out some hard removal. It's a card in a flexible slot I can take out if the meta changes or I need to cut something for specific tech.
