I did an earlier version of this deck and was unsuccessful. I finally found a working incredible version of this!!! It has the life gain, spell recast, and deck restoring that was much needed previously. I’ve been ripping through rank 5 with this deck. To top it off this deck is a lot of fun. Something Hearthstone has needed back in the past few weeks for me. Please try it. If you guys need a guide I’ll write one at 25 upvotes.
Honestly if you haven't tried the deck please do. It might bring some fun back to the game for a lot of you who like me....needed it.
6/27/2019: Swapped in Hellfire for Twisting Nether for earlier clear.
Thanks for enjoying the deck so far. I've honestly been looking to improve the deck so I made quite a bit of changes since the posted version in order to survive the current meta. Some of you will hate me but I swapped out the Rafaam's Scheme and Darkest Hour combo for more survivability. If you loved that part then feel free to keep it. When it works it blows not only your mind but your opponent's. Crystallizer was added in so life gain can be achieved more efficiently and earlier. Single target destruction was needed so Siphon Soul was added. If you find yourself needing it earlier for say "mech Hunter" shenanigans then swap in a silence like ironbeak owl. Lord Godfrey does one hell of a job of clearing nonsense and helping to trigger deathrattles. The longer you survive with this deck the better you have a chance of winning and the more fun you'll have as you realize the combos I have invested in.
High Priestess Jeklik and Lord Godfrey aren't crucial to the deck feel free to swap for silence like ironbeak owl if you don't have one of them.
Augmented Elekk : combos with demon generators. Combos with Plot Twist.
Archmage Vargoth : I've had a ton of questions as to why him? First off the second you play him he will draw a control card to kill him. This is clutch if you want to have something stick after. His sheer intimidating factor to the opponent will do this. He actually does have a use though. I've been using him with Plot Twist and Augmented Elekk on turn 9 to recycle 14 cards back into the deck that you choose to hold. Which comes in handy when you are drawing like crazy for Betrug. Also it's nice to send 2 more plot twists back into your deck which usually you will redraw one of the two on the last draw of the second plot twist on most occasions. The more you Plot Twist the more portal demons are thus spawned. With this in mind I might be putting darkest hour back in just to see if the demons can then be sacrificed for the darkest hour and generate the deathrattles minions I want. Hopefully now this gives him a little more clarity.
MULLIGANS
ALWAYS ditch Aranasi Broodmother. I also try and put back deathrattles to draw later. Ideally you are looking for early Augmented Elekk and Plot Twist, as well as demons generators but it depends on matchup.
DECK IN ACTION:
This deck is garbage in higher rankings. I have absolutely no idea why it has so much upvotes. Went from 2 stars from getting back to 5 and being safe to being a rank 8. Absolutely no chance against any Agro decks. (Which is all you get in the lower ranks). You’re much better off with the Magic Carpet/1 cost agro deck. Straight garbage deck.
Found this deck to be bad.
1)Too slow: With how aggro the meta is, you're finished before you can reach the midgame.
2)Not enough heal: See 1, but that drags into 2. The loss of spellstone makes warlock take too much damage from his own hero power and cards before he can pull anything off.
3)Too much single target removal for early game: It's hard to draw something you can play early on that doesn't get removed.
4)Win conditions are too mixed up: Betrug and the tokens provide too much anti-synergy. You want it to be getting off deathrattles, but the tokens just eat up value when you have him out.
5)Drawing big cards early makes you lose the match: Can't play early game if you have no early game. An 8 mana is useless the majority of the match.
The whole thing comes down to warlock's problems with the current meta. Not enough early game clear without zoo, not enough heal to keep his hero power going,
Apologize I didn't check this for a few days and apparently you all love it which is great. It's a lot of fun. The reason for Archmage Vargoth is casting him + Plot Twist + Augmented Elekk all on one turn which double casts Plot Twist and basically sends your hand into your deck recycled ×2. Allows for outlasting most control decks. There were a few matches I played like 6 Deranged doctors in a row. One guy friended me and accused me of cheating lol.
Thanks i thought Archmage Vargoth was worthless in this deck but now i know how to use it.
What do you think about adding some low cost minions to play in the start because aggro decks hits alot in the beginning, i know theres alot of healing in this deck but sometimes there are som bad card draws.
If you are looking for early defense I'd recommend either another Proud Defender or Rabble Bouncer. I've tried Doomsayer. But he just screwed me over whenever I'd Plot Twist with Fel Lord Betrug out.
Not the best deck but one of the funniest deck i played in a long time, good job!
whats the purpose of vargoth here?
See post above
What would be a replacement for High Priestess Jeklikin your opinion?
I think shes just in so he can use Shriek
but I dont see the strength in this deck.
She was just used for additional life gain early if needed. You could most likely swap for a Syphon Soul or a Twisting Nether which I've considered while tweaking and building the deck. She worked with the Shriek pretty well, but more often than not I had to hold the Shriek due to it forcing a discard on the Plot Twist. I'll post an updated copy on what I swapped out for what tomorrow. I've been play testing this at rank 5-Legend and not doing poorly at all. Honestly though the deck is just flat fun. Something I've needed in the game for a while now just to enjoy playing it. I started in August of 2014 so it can get stale at times if I don't make fun decks like this to freshen it up.
You are right it was for the Shriek. She proves good as an early blocker and life gain. The Shriek has been replaced.
I see. And I agree its fun. I threw in a giant Imp and when I draw well then its nice. Just a plot twist to heal +4 is not much and a twisting nether in days of deathrattles everywhere doesnt help much neither. Good luck ;)
I also try same changes like LordGofrey and proud defender
My Question would be; when you play Betrug? Just whenever or do you try to save plot twist for it?
Ideally I'll save plot twist for when I have him but I'll post a video later today on ideal for that occurence. I have been known to play him when in trouble as a last resort though. I used to play giant imps when I play the raafam's scheme but I found myself plot twisting away the schemes too much to find them useful. My hand is always full due to ability use plus plus all the life gain which was the reason for the decision to switch to mountain giant. If you don't find the twisting nether useful swap in a silence for it to beat off magnetized mechs. Where I'm at on the ladder I run into more mages trying to conjurer's calling so twisting is better fit.
Thanks for posting! Really have been enjoying this deck, it is a lot of fun. I've made a few changes because I don't have a couple cards and so far has been working out well. Vargoth did not feel great either. My edits:
-1 Archmage Vargoth -1 Cairne Bloodhoof -1 Portal Overfiend
+1 Dr. Morrigan +2 Mechanical Whelp
I've also considered changing the Shriek for a Grim Rally but I haven't run into too much aggro so far.
Anyway, great job! Deck feels wonderful and most importantly, tons of fun!
Thank you for your kind words 😊 I agree the deck is fun and was the reason for the build.
