Hey everyone! Here's my updated version of Dragon Combo Priest. I managed to get a 70% win rate with it and Top 10 Legend.
(Proof: https://twitter.com/lazya_hs/status/974074957884993536).
I also do coaching sessions so if you're interested here's the link: https://www.gamersensei.com/r/e8c89e
If we get 25 up votes I'll post a full guide of the deck with mulligans and deck mechanics!
Have fun :)
Update: Thank you so much for the up votes guys! Here's the full guide.
This deck is all about knowing when to go all-in, when to save your resources, when to trade or smorc, etc. All of these decisions can be crucial to your game-play. Lets check how you should go up against some of the strongest deck in the current meta.
Mulligan & Match-ups (Top Tier Decks)
- VS Control/Combo Priest - One of the things people don't know about the mirror is that it is all about those value trades and playing around Duskbreaker at the same time, they are known as Trump trades. Usually you want to KEEP Northshire Cleric, Netherspite Historian, Power Word: Shield, Drakonid Operative, Kabal Talonpriest and Twilight Drake. Tar Creeper is also decent. In this match up all you want is board. Usually the player that gets board control earlier manages to snowball for the rest of the game with high health minions very hard to deal with. Once you have board control always be careful and play around reverse combo (when the other player takes one of your minions and OTK's you) because even if your opponent doesn't have minions it doesn't mean you're safe. Try to play around double/triple Duskbreaker as well, those Netherspite Historian and Drakonid Operative can be nasty. Once you've reached a decent board state try to draw as much as possible in order to find your combo pieces but remember, board comes first. Against the Control version you need to have a different approach. You always start by getting board ofc but they'll eventually steal your stuff with Cabal Shadow Priest or clear with Pint-Size Potion + Shadow Word: Horror. Once they've done that if you don't have a way to get back on board try to think of reverse combo'ing him, sometimes they play high health minions such as Primordial Drake. Oh and remember, whenever you feel like you need to reverse combo always keep one Twilight Acolyte and x1 Potion of Madness with you.
- VS Control/CubeLock - This is one of my favorite match ups. Here's why. You can make a big guy until turn 5/6 before they can play Possessed Lackey and get a Voidlord. Always KEEP Northshire Cleric, Netherspite Historian, Kabal Talonpriest, Power Word: Shield, Drakonid Operative and Twilight Drake. Specific cases: If you have like Radiant Elemental + Power Word: Shield+Divine Spirit + Inner Fire I'd probably keep the whole hand since it gives you a big minion before they're able to deal with it. Is it greedy? For sure. But it wins you more games than you'll expect. Always try to be a bit greedy in this match up since they're resources are limited to deal with big minions until turn 6. If you can't have board pressure whatsoever try to go for reverse combo with Voidlord later, use Mass Dispel as well to clear the 1/3 taunts, take the Voidlord and you should be good to go with x2 Divine Spirit + Inner Fire or Crazed Alchemist. Against control sometimes you might wanna pick Temporus from Netherspite Historian since they play Skulking Geist and you can kill em in 2 turns with big minion + mass dispel or you can try to win by board pressure early on.
- VS Dude/Murloc Paladin - Against Murloc Paladin I'd say we're fine since they just have like 2/3 minion waves to deal with. Always keep Duskbreaker, Northshire Cleric, Radiant Elemental + Potion of Madness/Power Word: Shield, Netherspite Historian and Tar Creeper. Maybe Kabal Talonpriest is okay if you have a 1 or 2 mana minion already. You have to be very wise while using your potions and Duskbreaker. Always try to go for board control FIRST and then clear with potions and dusks. ALWAYS save Book Wyrm for Sunkeeper Tarim. The same mulligan applies to dude paladin but this one is harder than murloc since they have a bunch of minion waves to deal with. Getting Duskbreaker from Netherspite Historian is half way to victory and also getting those sweet potion of madnesses from visions as well. Always try to potion Drygulch Jailor to deny as much value as possible from him. And last but not least try to play around Divine Favor in both match ups. Throw away Clerics and Radiants in the late game if have board.
- VS Secret Mage - This is a very annoying match up. Same mulligans as the paladin match up but this time always try to get board control because once you lose it you're out of the game. One of the best ways to win this match up is by getting a big dude early so you can finish the game before they do, especially if they have Aluneth on 6... I'd also keep potion because you might want to do some dirty stuff with Mana Wyrm. Always save acolyte for Kabal Crystal Runner. Try to get a block from Drakonid Operative. May the odds be in your favor.

some tips would be always welcomed tho, especially that deck has over 70 upvotes...
Really people? The strategy of this deck is sooo simple. If you can't figure out the mulligan and strategy of this deck you must be struggling in HS. Play the deck and see what mulligan etc works for you instead of reading a guide.
That's a bit mean at new players trying to learn a deck and techniques
this is actually one of the hardest decks right now too pilot so stop trying to sound smart man :)
let people get guides. if you think u can perfect this deck than feel free too give your advice too everyone. if not be quiet.
I really like this type of priest, it has so much versatility and counterplay built into it, it can be crazy sometimes! for example you can steal deathrattles from a control warlock (RIN :D) and swing the game around completely, you can deny people from their board and the FEAR of your combo, even when you do not have it incite people to make sub par trades, It's crazy!
I had a lot of fun playing this deck, I decided to make a video showcasing it in action. I hope you all enjoy!
lets go with the mulligans and mechanics already
replacement for Twilight Acolyte × 2 ?
You can't mate, is a really good card because it helps with the sinergy of the deck Potion of Madness Book Wyrm and also is a really good card to stop a big ATK minion.
tyler been using this for like 2 seasons lol
