After lots and lots of thinking, this card is... not THAT bad...
I only say this because it feels like the metagame is changing, and if you have a bunch of taunt on the board, this can remove ANYTHING your opponent plays (except Deathwing, and the 12 health minions can be killed with the help of your other minions/spells)
If the meta indeed slows down, this can be used as a 9 mana 2xBig Game Hunter.
The problem is, of course, removals. They fu** with this card. But, again, if the meta slows down, pepole will use bigger minions, and if you have big minions, you don't really feel the need of having removals. 'cause you can trade your 8/8 and play another one next turn.
I know that theoretically this card is really bad, but on pratice, it can give us a lot of favorable trades, specially since it has Charge.
But it's not even 9 mana 2x BGH - The value in BGH isn't that it's just a kill spell, it's that it's a kill spell that also presents a threatening body. If you played 2x BGH to kill say a Ragnaros and an Alexstraza versus running Icehowl into them both you just clear the board; for -3 mana but +1 card you'd leave the board with 2x 4/2 on your side.
I don't think this card is viable outside of arena and even then as a very mediocre pick. This dude is over-costed in my opinion by at least 1 if not 2 mana OR doesn't have high enough stats. You can certainly try to break him with Silence, but again, at 9 mana you're just getting a 10/10 vanilla or smash a minion with charge into a 10/[X] vanilla for 9. At 9 mana you're looking at Ysera, Nefarian, Alex - all huge bodies that also almost always guarantee value and present a huge threat to opponent's face if left unchecked - this dude just threatens to trade with 2-3 of your minions.
I think the concept of this card is good but I think this is an example of Blizzard (probably wisely) showing restraint/apprehension of making OP cards and thus their experimental cards are a little UP. Something is just not right about this card and I really think it's the cost.
Yeah... true... for 8 mana it would be ok, 7 mana is way too cheap and 9 is indeed overpriced
If this silenced minions it attacked then I can see it being played, and it'll probably still be subpar. Fearlessly being able to smash Belchers and Sylvanas will remain a dream I suppose.
I would compare this card to Maexna. It's essentially the same thing: big dude that kills big minions and lives but cant pressure opponent's face. Id rate Maexna higher though, because shes 6 mana opposed to 9
Not exactly, since this has charge and acts immediately while Maexxna is a sitting duck and gets removed easily during that time or within the next turn...
they should make this a mage specific card that has charge, battlecry: freeze a minion and says you can only attack frozen targets instead of charge, can't attack heroes and then you maybe also want to make it a 10 mana creature
when u silence it it loses charge 2 so nope unless you can let it live 1 turn
feels like it's missing a taunt
This will probably only be played for shits and giggles, and nothing more. As far as legendaries go this one is pretty weak .
I played a deck like this a couple seasons back, gimmicky, but still got me to like rank 10.
It's VERY fun and with this card you can do even more crazy s***.
If you silence it and then faceless it...the faceless one can't attack because it doesn't has charge.
Nah. Rexxar probably lost interest once he heard it was 9 mana. I mean, he already doesn't use his 9 mana 8/8 that can go face.
If they added "Can't be targeted by battlecrys", then I could see this card getting some play.
charge is for agro. and this is way above their curve. and it can't go face. and there are way cheaper ways to deal with giants. and i'm not crafting this one.
Charge can also be used for removal. It's not just "for agro."
Or you could admit you're wrong, because Arena is a thing. An environment that is totally different than Constructed.
Except at a 10/10 for 9 mana, this minion has good stats for the cost, unlike stuff like wolfrider. Sure, you can use BGH instead, but not only can this target below 7 mana, but it leaves a far bigger body that threatens to be silenced next turn. And you could use a more efficient spell, but as for "powerful minion", you're staring right fucking at one.
The only thing that beats Icehowl stat-wise discards your hand (Deathwing), another minion that is likely to reach above 20 stats in a game is Gahz'rilla, and it doesn't have charge or a destroy effect and is thus not viable for stopping any threats.
the bad thing is ,even if you silence it he will lose charge
so far the best charge minion!
If you do not know there is a card called: Grommash Hellscream.
