I got Shifter Zerus off of A Light in the Darkness which made him a 2/2. I expected the +1/+1 buff to disappear after he transforms but it doesn't. Every minion Shifter Zerus transformed into had the same +1/+1 buff. This means cards like Forlorn Stalker can buff him while he is a Deathrattle minion and then the next turn he will keep the buff even if he turns into a non-deathrattle minion.
Pulled a golden one today. A bit disappointed he has no animation when played. What's the point of my golden legendary if my opponent thinks I'm just playing a golden Magma Rager?
yeah, I'm a little bummed that there's no cool "mutation" animation when he's played, but apparently your opponent still can figure out that the card came from Zerus (the turn history log says "Generated by Shifter Zerus" or something to that effect).
From a limited sample size (7 games) this guy seems pretty good. He outright won me the game twice – first time he gave me Sylvanas Windrunner right before my opponent's C'Thun turn and the second time Flamewaker in a Miracle Rogue deck.
Maybe I've just been lucky, but the flexibility seems really useful to me especially since he can give you other classes' cards (some of which are just broken in the right builds – see Flamewaker in Miracle Rogue).
Just got him from one of the free packs. I'm gonna try making a Zoo deck with him. Wish me luck boys!
If you think about it, this cards effect is like drawing a second random card at the beginning of your turn. So if you read the card as "At the start of your turn Draw a Random Minion Card", it doesn't sound to bad. I'm not saying its going to break the Meta or even be that Competitive, I just think its going to end up being stronger than most people think. Also, Golden Shifter Zerus changing into Golden Minions is going to be awesome.
Flavor Text: "It's like being able to play with THREE angry chickens!"
Thanks, but no thanks, Blizzard, I have higher aspirations in life. This is my chance to play triple Am'gam Rager in the same deck.
This card is far worse than it appears to be.
The problem is it has 2 conditions to fulfil until you can actually play it. 1st It must be a good minion, which you would generally just include on your own. 2nd condition is not so obvious...
The thing in HS is that you generally want to adress state of the board first, play around enemy minions and spells, and if you are behind, you have to adress them directly. So 2nd condition is - to be played after board state is answered, meaning that even if you get a good minion from it, you just may not be able to play it, as it will die pathetically to enemy board or you just die on your own. And if you can't adress board state, this will be a bad drop, and if you won't play it, it will change into something else. This is really tricky card so I don't expect to see it at all.
So this is the only card that can give you Dr.Balanced in standard?
Cards that summon or gets another card can only get cards that is legal to the fromat you are playing in. That means that you can only get wild cards in wild it's imposible to get it in standard
For those of you that are interested in the reality of playing Shifter Zerus in an actual game, I have just finished my full analysis of how it works in Standard with all of the Old Gods cards included:
