Hard removal? What's harder than shooting someone's spell when it's not even your turn!

Messed around and came to this. It's a spell counter based entirely on your opponent knowing when it occurs. It costs nothing, but is always a dead draw. The fun part is you can tech it in or out depending on whether or not you think your opponent expects it and will burn a useless spell.

Debate is still out on whether I should do Paladin (Because they generally don't get AoE's thus it feels more shadowy and corrupt) or Pirest because it's the usual.

Counter-shot... I straight up don't know how to phrase this one. I want a card that somehow discards itself to counter, but I'm not sure what the best way to do that is.

Mark of Iplication; Please someone get the joke. More of a one-off if anything it's definitely too slow.

@Wailor Other than not being familiar with Transgenics, I like it, though it is a bit basic. Extinction sort of feels either too good or too bad, I can't honestly tell. It really depends on the decks that use it. Now Shadow Word: Predate, I really like conceptually I'm almost confident it's balanced, but I'm not sure it really feels like a shadow word in flavor. Maybe set the raptor on fire, make the fire purple?

@CovetousJ Singularity is probably not great, 4 mana to put all your minions into a single target doesn't feel great. I like the actual text of Absorb, but it's definitely at most 1 mana, possibly 0. As said before, Capitalize. Maker's Mark makes me happy.

@Deravcc I believe Blizz avoids +/- together because it's not intuitively obvious to the general masses who've not played MTG or similar games. Also, as removal it's too slow at 4 mana. Twilight words suffers from non-equal choose options (Full restore is 0 mana) and thus doesn't feel very choose one.

@ZiombalaZoms I like it conceptually, but it's basically just 1 mana do nothing when drawn which feels bad. Good tradeoff? Maybe. But spells should theoretically do something (Maybe 3 mana draw 1 as a better tradeoff?). Still, I like it.

@FHillz Ooooh, slick naming. Now that we have sleep as an actual term this works, but I'd still try to fit in until the end of your opponent's turn if you can. I don't necessarily think losing taunt on combo is a necessity, it may need to be one or the other.

@Blightcaller I'm guessing Mongoose Bite's name changed and it just slipped through, I get that. Conceptually very interesting but I'm unsure how close it is to Cheap Shot. Looks pretty good, but I'm wary (And there's no real other way to balance it). Shadow Word: Insanity looks great. Blessing of Sanctuary... What does it mean. The problem with original state is, does that mean full stats? Would it remove buffs? Does it un-polymorph minions? It's a bit too ambiguous. If there's an ingame example, hit me up with it, I'm interested.

    Quote from Screwjank >>

Is this card allowed? It follows the rule of being a buff, but I'm not sure if Warrior is acceptable.

I think this one’s fine, yeah. I will say that it’s not exactly a buff; Perhaps if you already have a weapon equipped it could add the random weapon stats to it instead? Still, I like the initiative of going warrior.

Sort of; It’s not really an example of a mark, but kind of fulfills that purpose. Like it’s effect isn’t similar to the other marks.

Just because you want a fair fight does not mean you should be giving our enemies Kingsbanes!

I challenged myself to reach the full four lines. Not easy.

    These are all very interesting. Me and McF have been at this for going on five-six years now (most our old hero powers were so imbalanced and/or not fitting for the class) so I’m gonna give you two more rule suggestions;

    6. All hero powers must fit three lines with the Hero Power line

    7. Hero Powers shouldn’t have multiple dead zones.

the first one’s a style thing, and don’t worry, I never notice either. The second is Game Design. All current ingame HPs can be either be flatcast turn 2 (even Priest), and therefore it’s clearly part of design ethos. That being said, I’m kicking myself that To Arms! never occurred to me.

Big value if you can keep it alive and draw a lot, but also sets your boardstate to one 5/7 minion. Flavorwise her stats are the inverse of Illidan Stormrage's and she severely hamstrings the draws of anyone playing Illidan by shuffling all his Flame of Azzinoth into their deck.

EDIT: Had to completely rework my submission, I noticed that whilst unintentionally, I'd almost completely copped from another Akama entry.

Competition Theme: We're Outland of Ideas

Congratulations once again to Kacman for winning WCDC 10.6. He wanted to return to glory days of Knights of the Frozen Throne... and there's really only one expansion as widely beloved as the Wrath of the Lich king...

    Competition-Specific Restrictions:

    • The first restriction; you have to accept that you are not prepared.
    • In the spirit of KotFT, you must make a card that represents the world of Warcraft expansion The Burning Crusade; We want Outlands, Demons, ridiculous helboar grinds in Hellfire Peninsula, fifteen-hundred potion raid nights... you get the picture.
    • This week there are no mechanical restrictions. All you have to do is include the Mag'theridon Watermark, which I'll put a guide to below.

Step 1: Fire up Hearthcards as usual.

Step 2: Once you've formulated your entry, scroll the watermark wheel aaaall the way down (This can be wierd with things like Google Chrome's download bar. Trust me, if you scroll to the bottom the very last thing you can click'll do it). Select Custom.

Step 3: Press the spikiest boy in there. It's highlighted in blue below.

    • You want examples? Fel Reaver, Illidan Stormrage, Wrathguard... examples aren't really useful.
    • No flavor points this week, the whole challenge is based on flavor. Zanywoop will intentionally upvote every single other card however if someone throws a pandaren in.  Adhere religiously to what was around in TBC; Anyone who's played through TBC, be sure to keep your Cursed Vision of Sargeras off so you can help anyone who hasn't slogged through Blade's Edge. Please note that not all the Mods have even earned Lady Liadrin, let alone farmed Netherdrake rep, so be patient if we miss a few flavor things.

    General Competition Rules

These are the rules that remain consistent from competition to competition.

    Posting Rules

    • You are allowed to submit only one entry.
    • After your submit, you may only make minor edits to your submissions (spelling, grammar, etc.). Please PM a fan creations moderator if you have questions regarding an edit you are not sure about.
    • You may not delete ANY posts you make in this Submission Topic, not even accidental ones. Please PM a fan creations moderator if you make a mistake in your submission.
    • This thread is for submissions only. Any discussion of the competition must take place in the discussion topic.

These are the rules about your Submission:

    • Your card cannot be Golden, have a hearthcards.net generated backdrop, or any major photo editing done to it.
    • You are allowed to post in this Submission Topic only once, only to submit your one entry.
    • Accompanying the image of your card, you may offer some minimal additional commentary to explain its design, balance, and/or other qualities. Flavor text is also welcome.
    • You may not plagiarize. An immediate qualification is the punishment for this offense.
    • You must host your card on a image hosting website. postimage.org is highly recommended. imgur.com currently has issues on this site and images hosted there do not show up.
    • Fun and even humorous entries are perfectly allowed, but "troll" entries will be disqualified. If you're worried that your card may be misinterpreted as a troll card, contact a moderator before you submit. Emote-related cards will be considered a troll entry.
    • We reserve the right to classify cards as "troll" entries as we deem necessary, even if the reasoning is not explicitly stated in the rules.

A Note on Group Submissions: If you team up with other people to submit an entry, you must enclose that information in your submission and none of you may upvote that entry. That would be considered an unfair advantage and we will treat it as vote-manipulation. You are technically voting for yourself, and that is not allowed. Failing to tell us you're in a group is also against the rules, as we'll have no choice but to assume that you withheld the information to ghost-vote your group's submission.

Finally, know that manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive an official warning, and will be banned from this and all future HearthPwn Card Design Competitions.

    Posting Tutorial

This is a posting tutorial for the website imgur.com. If you use another website, the process will be similar.

    1. It is recommended you use hearthcards.net to create your cards. Save the generated card to your device.
    2. Upload the image to imgur.com. You do not need an account.
    3. After your image is uploaded, many links will be generated. Find the "Direct link". It will have a .jpg or .png at the end of the link. Copy the link.
    4. On your hearthpwn post, find the "Insert/edit image" button:
    5. Paste the direct link. This is recommended but not mandatory: You may choose to make the image smaller by changing the image dimensions.

     Competition Process

Below is a list of all the deadlines for this contest:

    Preview Phase (Oct. 2, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  Oct. 3, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
The Discussion Topic is made available, previewing this week's competition theme.
Entry and Early Voting Phase (Oct. 3, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  Oct. 7, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be unlocked. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
    Voting Phase (Oct. 7, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  Oct. 9, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
    Final Phase (Oct. 9, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  Oct. 10, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a Finalists Thread will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Finalists Thread, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and a poll to decide the winner of the competition!

How do we determine the qualifying finalists? We use the following formula:

     ab ) / ( ) = x

    Where,
a = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission.
b = The total number of up-votes that the submission received.
c = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission.
    x = The submission's final score.

The formula basically measures which cards stood out the most, with the necessary assumption that each page is about equal in overall submission quality. It will be the entries that receive the highest final scores that move on to the Final Phase.

The bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score.

But wait, there's more! During each Weekly Card Design Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderators will be given a Wild Card , which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun.
(Also, it should go without saying that, while we moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, we are not allowed to benefit from Wild Cards.)

    Rewards

Bragging rights are always awesome, but as usual, we do offer a couple of HearthPwn site rewards to competition winners:
Their card forever immortalized in our Winners' Gallery!
They will be allowed to select the next card design competition theme.
And a unique Avatar Border & " Card Design Champion " Title, as depicted below!

    Discussion Topic Rules

To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?

    • Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
    • Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
    • Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!

All of that said, please refrain from the following:

    • Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
    • Advertising Your Entry. As a rule of thumb, please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other
    • Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.

Looking for more information about the WCDC or Fan Creations in general? Why not check out this FAQ to see if your question is answered there? You can also PM one of us Fan Creation Mods!

To give actual feedback though; We'd need the full class to judge against. As it stands, it doesn't need a cost reduction if it's already baseline 6 mana.

@CakeEater This spell is probably too strong as a neutral spell, several classes can abuse this (Including rogue, where this would fit best flavor wise). If it shuffled to your opponent, maybe, or maybe if you had a decksize requirement.

@Blightcaller Conceptually this is fantastic, though perhaps not quite spicy enough for most decks. Flavor wise, I'd give it a name (Though slick work fitting in tentacles).

@Shrinkkk I worry this makes the gamestate a bit uninteresting. Also, reeeeeally hard to remove. I don't think it's a terrible idea though; 1 mana fulfills the anti-aggro requirement but it's a lot of value for 1 mana. It's interesting, it's interesting.

@Nohva Spicy, I like it. It's kind of a huge buff to Tentacles for Arms, though I *think* it's fine (considering Bazaar Burglary). I like it. Nice tentacles.

@Covetousj The Leech King is theoretically fair but probably awful to play against. Tentagryff seems pretty balanced, and I love these sorts of warlock health tradeoffs (SICK tentacles). I also like The Great Devourer (great use of mechanics) but I think the enchantment portion should be in the Deathrattle, like in Immortal Prelate, though that would weaken it. I liked a lot of these.

@LeoFC More consistent than Lucentbark, though I think you can mess around with the flavor a bit. Maybe one of the (several) possessed Scarlet Crusaders, that'd fit the themeing.

@Sillyraptor Mind Bender has the same problem as Jade Idol, multiplicative effects that just get out of hand. I Like Reinforcements!, I have some tentacled art with a similar theme if you'd like.

@WhattheHeck N'zoth here is waaaaaaay too slow and way too expensive. Mindbender Gur'sha respawns way too often and way too powerfully. Not sure which direction I'd tell you to go in.

@Kacman THIS. This is solid. I think the Plague phrasing should be "Cast to add to your opponent's hand."

@Ashkrell Jade Tentacles is wonderfully balanced. The only issue is having two in hand and spamming them at the end of game for 8 mana but like... Jade Idol existed...
