MOD NOTE: These types of creatures would ALL fit the tentacle rules. Draenei with tentacle bierds, worms with tentacles, old god infections... all good.

Alright, so I've been goofing around with a custom keyword that returns a minion to your hand the first time you play it each turn. However, without the keyword tag, I've reduced the concept to a few simple ideas. Basically, each of these cards can give you a weaker or more niche Hero Power each turn, or a big swing one turn.

@rjcv See, I hate to tell you this but this trigger is far too consistent. The reason none of the dormancy legss have been broken like Hero Cards or Start of the Game effects have been is they're highly inconsistent; Lucentbark needs deck investment and Sherazin, the Corpse Flower needs turn AND deck investment. If you want this card to not be broken, it's either gotta have bad/unhelpful stats like Dreadsteed or a slow trigger.

@thezzy I like this conceptually. At the moment I think it's a bit underwhelming; I feel like it could be less of a stat-stick and more of a keyword whale, at least with rush. Also, most tokens that don't need to be played share the same cost as the generator, Still, nice concept! Oh, and that art is Soggoth the Slitherer. If you need other Faceless ones, I got a bunch.

@Deravcc I like the Axe and Zul, but the other one doesn't fit the rules. My brain screams that the axe is op, but I like the design of it. Zul seems slow but feels in Line with High Priestess Jek'lik. Cool stuff!

@Littleogre It's in line with other dragons, but if Anub'arak is any indication a 9 mana Deathrattle is way too slow, especially a conditional one. I think you could power up this dragons effect at 9 mana as it is or crank it down to like 5 mana and a lower statline. Oh, and flavorwise green dragons are all dream based, hence why all dragons mages have access to are from the blue dragonflight. I recommend using a frost wyrm (They were previously blue dragons).

I have to run for now, I'll put more comments in later.

Actually I think it’s reverse; All rpgue secrets are Wild, so it would theoretically just pull from classes that do have secrets. That would still be consistent with things like Finder’s Keepers which always pulls from the shaman pool even if you’re a rogue, without necessarily specifying it; Because it uses the Overload keyword it only pulls from possible Overload card. Since Secret is still a keyword I think this still works fine.

"Teron'gor decided that if death and resurrection didn't count as a legal name change, nothing would."

Dreadsteed, of course, is the game's first undying minion. Teron'gor's own Death Knights forces it to be nerfed to prevent Defile from going infinite, but provided the perfect effect for this card. Essentially you have your very own Silver Hand Recruit from turn 1, but one that's not only susceptible but constantly threatening your healthpool. Short of silencing it however, it's inifinite value onboard... provided it doesn't die fifteen times.

Oh, and Gorefiend? Gorefiend just chump-blocks. Summoning hell steeds is hardwork, man.

    Dreadsteed

Alright... I'm spitballing a few more concepts, a few more bodies, a few more costs. If you didn't see the first one, it prevented your other minions from attacking while the Dreadsteed's alive.

@jjroks354 I'm not sure what angle could honestly balance Tad's Best Friend, it's just a far too strong refuel engine in the current meta. The Coffer of Promise is cute but thematically it's strange with Explore Un'goro, it's utilizing a kobolds and catacombs mechanic that you'd need to be in wild for, and to be honest with you decksize wasn't the reason people weren't playing explore un'goro, putting aside locking it behind a quest gate. The last one I think is fine, but other than the flavor it's a bit obvious. I like where you went with a lot of these older cards, I just think the individual concepts need a bit of fine-tuning.

@Deravcc The issue I have with this card is it's basically a 3200-dust legendary; It takes another legendary to activate, and if Lord Jaraxxus is the last card in your deck and this is your first draw it feels really bad. I'm not a huge fan of 3-cost hero powers either.

@Soulbattle To be honest I like all of these. Tireless cleric makes Resurrect a lot less broken and thus I don't mind the generation. Tipsi is I think the most RNG dependent, so perhaps not the best for the contest. I love the flavor on Sadistic Blacksmith, though part of me thinks instead of extra stats he should be loaded down with Keywords. All in all great stuff though!

@Imhappyfou I actually really like this concept; i'd advise that you smack Battlecry on it though.

@Frogageddon The Totem Golem's Right, and I fear I've steered you in the wrong direction. It'll definitely need to be a pay-off for playing elementals to really be useful, or high cost. I'm going to recommend it start at 12 cost and get cheaper each elemental (Let's be honest, even non elemental shamans play 2-3 eles per game so Discovering it won't be too much of an issue). If you went that way with cost, I think either discover two different ones to trigger or another one triggers randomly would be good.

@Blightcaller How does the Yogg interaction work? In any case, I think this is a much slicker way of triggering a battlecry/end of turn effect. Admittedly the wording's very Yu-Gi-Oh but what can ya do.

@b1ack1ce I'll set aside the logistic arguments, and I respect that you know them already, but here's my question... 4 mana? Rogue already has a generally low-cost pool to choose from (I don't think they had a Joust card even), and if it's not a guaranteed discover effect there's no point playing it. From the wording it doesn't sound like the opponent ever gets the card, but if that's what you're intending, I see no reason I'd ever want to pay 4 mana to give my opponent a card of their choosing. if you want to gate this effect to later turns in the game, I'd reccomend you slap it onto a minion. If not, a 1 mana spell, if not 0 considering it is a gamble. But in it's current form, I'd say it wouldn't be fun to play. Maybe whoever's card cost more gets reduced to the cost of the opponent's card or something, maybe the person who took more expensive gets two copies. Sorry if I sound too negative; The name's absolutely dope and I appreciate an attempt at jousting.

@Dewox If you want to gate mysterious challenger's effect, stick it on an 8-cost minion that has better stats. Challenger couldn't be handdled turn 6-7 and that was the problem. It could probably be in the game if it was just gated behind some kid of 10 cost spell or 8-mana divine shield taunt minion.

@Thearcanist236 Great concept, I'd say Discover instead. Considering she's older and theoretically wiser than Toki, she'd be able to pull it off. Also, mirror stats or do stats+1, She's way stronger than Toki in the Adventure.

@Cheese Dog Mushhuckster is soooooo broken. Have the activation cost be like cards from another class because right now you need to play a spell.... and he'll give you a 1 mana spell. He loops himself harder than Lyra the Sunshard, and she was busted. I like the The Great escape, both flavorfully and mechanically. Nerubian queen is really, really slow. If you rebalance the Mushhuckster go for that one.

I've had this concept for awhile; Basically the old Patches the Pirate concept, but with a detractor to keep it balanced. basically if they never play a minion, you're limited to 1 damage a turn plus any turn you can remove the Dreadsteed yourself (But let's be honest, they won't win if they go 29 turns without playing minions.). What I'm interested in is what I should do with Gorefiend's body; Early on the concept had him as a hero card with the same Start of the Game effect and a Hero Power that could use the Dreadsteed as a resource. Other ideas could be a badly costed Taunt, Rush or Spell Damage +1 minion.

@Hereharehere I like it; I'm mulling over whether the trigger is costed right and also the Trigger it's Battlecry line. I have a nagging feeling that either in an adventure or in a card I straight forgot we had cards that triggered Battlecries but at the moment I don't believe we did. I think slickly it'd be better if he was added to your hand and just became very cheap.

Also you should totally make it 7 mana because then it would align with Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk and Dinotamer Brann but also there's that Windshear Stormcaller I'm conflicteeeed

@Wailor Lol road furry... I'd go Furry Road and I personally believe that the effect is clear enough. I do think it'd be funnier if the card just said "Discover a Hog with Charge," gave 4 choices and one option was Stonetusk Boar, but that's not an obvious interaction and probably just a thing for funsies.

@Dewox You'll need to note that the damage is a Battlecry, however I like that with Skycap'n Kragg it continues the four damage line. I think because it's a combo, and so you can play Kragg with it turn 10 (And if you do, it's probably safer at 4/2)

@Froggageddon I love this conceptually; I think getting back those old tokens is a great idea (We hadn't specified it would work like that in the rules though so I am doublechecking with my crew). What I'd reccommend is that you either A) drop the elemental play requirement and give it a giant style cost reduction, because while it should be lategame and tie in with elementals it's too much of a dead turn B) Keep the cost and Twinspell (I'm iffy on whether or not to keep the elemental requirement) and then cast all the evocations or C) make it reeeal cheap, keep the elemental requirements and set a cost for the evocations. However, I think this is a great idea!

@Xanxon (first off I've used that art you have for an icon before so big thumbs up from me) I think this is fantastic, but you're right; there are some issues with how the design works out; I figure you want it to trigger after half the candles are drawn. I don't quite remember if The Darkness sets it's trigger from it's battlecry or if it's hardcoded (Which could be tested with Eureka and an actual copy of The Darkness, if only I had them) BUT. While it reads wonky, mechanically I like it. I think you should keep it's body, perhaps slap Taunt on it but crank it up to 8 mana. The Darkness was a 20/20 for 4 mana, this effect is still technically a .5 mana more consistent The Darkness. I'd argue it wasn't worth the 4 mana plus wait, so I think 6/6 Taunt with a delayed 20/20 as roughly a 1.75 mana effect as a class leg feels right. Still! Great realization of the prompt.

@nobravery If Blizz’ll repeat, so will we. Also, since our current team is full-on new... we don’t quite remember the 9 seasons in and out come before hand (though we’ll do our best to stay original).

@reilgun I’m not going to tell you they aren’t allowed, but be careful; As this isn’t YGO I’d refrain from making any spells that will have no effect without a certain deck-comp.

@wailor I’m of the mind that you could probably just say a Legendary Weapon from the past and that’d be both solid flavor and solidly defined text. However; I’d caution that Woecleaver was never meant to be wielded on turn five off a 5/4 body.

This is the Discussion Topic. The Submission Topic is here.

    Competition Theme: Single’s Night

Congratulations once again to Binza for winning WCDC 10.2. After throwing some darts against the wall, this is what stuck.

    Competition-Specific Restrictions:

    • Your card must directly benefit from the Highlander theme; If your deck has no duplicates.
    • Your card MUST be a Legendary, and MUST be a more-or-less unique effect. This is completely subjective and up to discussion, but something like Reno the Relicologist is not considered "unique" since that effect is seen on stuff like Avenging Wrath and a lot of other cards, while something like Sir Finley of the Sands is, where only two cards upgrade a Hero Power.
    • Optional Flavor challenge: Make an explorer, preferably with a handlebar mustache.

If you’re wondering about how to make a solid “unique” effect, think about what’s available in standard; Sir Finley of the Sands is currently the only card in standard that provides the classic upgraded hero power effect also seen on Justicar Trueheart and Baku the Mooneater, therefore the effect is standard unique to Finley. To that extreme, Brann is the best example of anon-unique effect, as you could already jam a King Krush in your deck.

     Competition Process

Below is a list of all the deadlines for this contest:

    Preview Phase (September 1, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  September 2, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
The Discussion Topic is made available, previewing this week's competition theme.
Entry and Early Voting Phase (September 2, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  September 6, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be unlocked. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
    Voting Phase (September 6, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  September 7, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
    Final Phase (September 7, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  September 8, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a Finalists Thread will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Finalists Thread, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and a poll to decide the winner of the competition!

    Discussion Topic Rules

To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?

    • Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
    • Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
    • Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!

All of that said, please refrain from the following:

    • Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
    • Advertising Your Entry. As a rule of thumb, please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other
    • Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.

    Posting Rules

    • You are allowed to submit only one entry.
    • After your submit, you may only make minor edits to your submissions (spelling, grammar, etc.). Please PM a fan creations moderator if you have questions regarding an edit you are not sure about.
    • You may not delete ANY posts you make in this Submission Topic, not even accidental ones. Please PM a fan creations moderator if you make a mistake in your submission.
    • This thread is for submissions only. Any discussion of the competition must take place in the discussion topic.

These are the rules about your Submission:

    • Your card cannot be Golden, have a hearthcards.net generated backdrop, or any major photo editing done to it.
    • You are allowed to post in this Submission Topic only once, only to submit your one entry.
    • Accompanying the image of your card, you may offer some minimal additional commentary to explain its design, balance, and/or other qualities. Flavor text is also welcome.
    • You may not plagiarize. An immediate qualification is the punishment for this offense.
    • You must host your card on a image hosting website. postimage.org is highly recommended. imgur.com currently has issues on this site and images hosted there do not show up.
    • Fun and even humorous entries are perfectly allowed, but "troll" entries will be disqualified. If you're worried that your card may be misinterpreted as a troll card, contact a moderator before you submit. Emote-related cards will be considered a troll entry.
    • We reserve the right to classify cards as "troll" entries as we deem necessary, even if the reasoning is not explicitly stated in the rules.

A Note on Group Submissions: If you team up with other people to submit an entry, you must enclose that information in your submission and none of you may upvote that entry. That would be considered an unfair advantage and we will treat it as vote-manipulation. You are technically voting for yourself, and that is not allowed. Failing to tell us you're in a group is also against the rules, as we'll have no choice but to assume that you withheld the information to ghost-vote your group's submission.

Finally, know that manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive an official warning, and will be banned from this and all future HearthPwn Card Design Competitions.

    Posting Tutorial

This is a posting tutorial for the website imgur. If you use another website, the process will be similar.

    1. It is recommended you use hearthcards.net to create your cards. Save the generated card to your device.
    2. Upload the image to imgur.
    3. After your image is uploaded, many links will be generated. Find the "Direct link". It will have a .jpg or .png at the end of the link. Copy the link.
    4. On your hearthpwn post, find the "Insert/edit image" button:
    5. Paste the direct link. This is recommended but not mandatory: You may choose to make the image smaller by changing the image dimensions.

    Competition Process

Below is a list of all the deadlines for this contest:

    Preview Phase (September 1, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  September 2, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
The Discussion Topic is made available, previewing this week's competition theme.

How do we determine the qualifying finalists? We use the following formula:

     ab ) / ( ) = x

    Where,
a = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission.
b = The total number of up-votes that the submission received.
c = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission.
    x = The submission's final score.

The formula basically measures which cards stood out the most, with the necessary assumption that each page is about equal in overall submission quality. It will be the entries that receive the highest final scores that move on to the Final Phase.

The bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score.

But wait, there's more! During each Weekly Card Design Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderators will be given a Wild Card , which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun.
(Also, it should go without saying that, while we moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, we are not allowed to benefit from Wild Cards.)

    Rewards

Bragging rights are always awesome, but as usual, we do offer a couple of HearthPwn site rewards to competition winners:
Their card forever immortalized in our Winners' Gallery!
They will be allowed to select the next card design competition theme.
And a unique Avatar Border & " Card Design Champion " Title, as depicted below!

This is the Submission Topic. The Discussion Topic is here.

Imgur is working again! We will accept submissions from both Imgur and Postimages.

    Competition Theme: Quest Chain

    Competition-Specific Restrictions:

    • You must make a card that directly benefits Two or more Quests.
    • You must also choose one of these sub prompts:
      1. Your submission may be a Neutral card that directly benefits quests from different classes.
      2. Your submission may be a Class card that directly benefits both the quest from SoU and JtU.
    • Important! Simply having a battlecry minion like Questing Explorer does not mean it directly benefits all 9 quests. It’s effects (Battlecry and Draw a card) would benefit two quests, and we can split hairs about Unseal the Vault. The card would be viable for the competition, but only because it works with Supreme Archaeology and Corrupt the Waters. Here’s a shortlist of what we consider a general direct interaction....

    Saviors of Uldum:

Untapped Potential: Should interact with unspent mana at the end of the turn or refresh mana crystals.

Unseal the Vault: Should allow you to summon at least 2 minions, be it through adding them to your hand or directly summoning them.

Raid the Sky Temple: A spell that either provides you with more spells or makes the ones you have easier to cast.

Making Mummies: It should have Reborn or give you a minion with reborn. Or both!

Activate the Obelisk: Heal things or give you things that need healing.

Bazaar Burglary: Burgle things. Other people’s things.

Corrupt the Waters: Battlecry minion or card that gives you Battlecry minion. Or weapon. Or hero?

Supreme Archaeology: A card that either draws cards or benefits (intentionally) from being cheap. Or has an on draw effect. Could also make your deck bigger too,

Hack the System: Weapons and weapon accessories.

    Journey to Un’goro:

Jungle Giants: Give it 5 or more attack or a way to gain 5 or more attack.

The Marsh Queen: As many 1-attack interacts as you can without stepping on Paladins’ toes.

Open the Waygate: See the previous Mage quest, because mages don’t change all that much.

The Last Kaleidosaur: Buff Spells and spell interacting minions.

Awaken the Makers: Are we just getting quests in places with Titan facilities? Deathrattle.

The Caverns Below: If you really feel like buffing this, you weren’t playing in JtU. Anyways, hand bounce or replication is good.

    Unite the Murlocs: Mrrrgrggrgrlllll!

Lakkari Sacrifice: Either it should discard cards, interact with previously discarded cards, or do some wacky things when it itself is discarded. I’ll even support the classic “Discard fodder” producers that clog your hand with cards to discard.

Fire Plumes Heart: Last one! Taunt minions, bread and butter, which was basically half of SoU anyways.

These are just general guidelines, we are open to debate the voracity of direct interactions.

Loose Examples: Springpaw, Hench-Clan Shadequill, Sludge Slurper

This is a posting tutorial for the website postimage.org. If you use another website, the process will be similar.

    1. It is recommended you use hearthcards.net to create your cards. Save the generated card to your device.
    2. Upload the image to postimage.org. Use the "Do not resize my image" option. You can choose either "No expiration" or "Remove after 31 days".

    Preview Phase (August 15, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  August 16, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
The Discussion Topic is made available, previewing this week's competition theme.
Entry and Early Voting Phase (August 16, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  August 20, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be unlocked. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
    Voting Phase (August 20, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  August 21, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
    Final Phase (August 21, 2019 [10:00 PM CST] -  August 22, 2019 [10:00 PM CST])
During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a Finalists Thread will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Finalists Thread, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and a poll to decide the winner of the competition!

How do we determine the qualifying finalists? We use the following formula:

     ab ) / ( ) = x

    Where,
a = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission.
b = The total number of up-votes that the submission received.
c = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission.
    x = The submission's final score.

And a unique Avatar Border & " Card Design Champion " Title, as depicted below!

posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 10.2 - Discussion Topic

This is the Discussion Topic. The Submission Topic is here.

    Imgur is BACK UP!

    We're back!

The fan creations team has finally gotten back on its feet after all the hubbub the Uldum expansion has caused. While we have had some setbacks trying to get the show running again, hopefully, we're here to stay.

You can expect regular weekly competitions hosted on the forums from now on. Here's to another 9 seasons!

    Submission thread’s up, go wild!

within set parameters though, read the rules before posting.

@Guts4Dinner Interesting conceptually but I’d recommend cranking down Zul’s cost to maybe 2m and giving him a way to “naturally” complete g’huun (with maybe 1-2 cards helping it). Also! Try this art (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/685462005761433825/), people generally vote for art over WoW models.
