posted a message on Need Help with getting into Wild

Need some help to get into wild.

Never really played wild. I'm actually afraid of the format. The only times I dared go into some games, I used decks that were "viable" in their relevant expansion and added some new cards. As an example, I played a few games with a slighly modified Spell Hunter deck. I just got destroyed over and over by decks that seemed way to OP like Darkest Hour warlock.

Recently, I've been playing Quest Warlock with Arch-Villain Rafaam as my win condition in Standard. It's not really a good deck (Maybe it's a favorable deck only against bomb warrior because I can difuse bombs with Rafam and I have many heals via Soul Shards).

My deam deck to play has always been Kibler's Plot Twist Warlock

    Kibler Plot Twist Warlock
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (20) Ability (10)
    Loading Collection
. I'm still missing the 2 Key cards Dollmaster Dorian and Fel Lord Betrug. I'll obviously add more recent cards to strengthen the deck if needed.

Sadly I used to disenchant almost every card once an expansion rotated out. This includes adventure cards that I often see in wild streams such as Emperor Thaurissan.

Would I get destroyed in Wild with this deck? Are there specific cards I should be aiming for.

    Things to consider:

    • My current collection is basically just the year of the pheonix. Almost everything else is gone.
    • I'm only interested in Kiblers deck. However, i'm open to new ideas because I don't know much about this format.
    • I only play unranked. Don't really care about a negative win rate, as long as it's not something ridiculous. 48% or w/e is fine. I play this game for fun.

I had to sign up just to vent. I've been at this shitshow since LOE and this game has turned into a total clownfest. It's no longer any fun. As a matter of of fact, I'll go as far as to say it's now a game made for narcissistic assholes. Those are the only people who can have fun with this game in 2020. I've gone from playing about 20 matches a day to a couple every now and then and it's purely out of addiction. I'm going to break that addiction after this post because enough is enough. I'm selling my account and telling Blizzard to play hide and go fuck themselves.

There is absolutely no reason to indulge in a game where you sit there and watch your opponent pull off insane combos, generate cards out of nowhere, mana cheat, etc., and there isn't a fucking thing you can do about it. There was a time when  strategic trading and planning was top priority because the mana system was strict. Now it's just who can be more unfair first. I could get into all of the little details but that's covered by everyone else. The fact of the matter is this game fucking sucks.

About the game being rigged. Do I think the matches are rigged? No. I've had my fair share of "I top decked the exact card I needed at the exact time I needed it". There is only 30 cards a deck so the odds are not that staggering. However, matchmaking is so rigged it should be obvious to a monkey with an IQ of 3. Go ahead, put that tech card in and you rarely see the deck you're teching against again.

Either way, the game is just not good for people who have a bit of competitive spirit. When you lose knowing full well you did everything right, it's demoralizing. I would find myself fantasizing taking my opponents face after the "well played" and defeat and just punching it over and over again until it was unrecognizable. I never feel that way losing any other game I play against others and I'm talking C.O.D, Madden, Mortal Kombat, etc. Hell, even games like Dark Souls and Nioh are ten times more challenging and yet I enjoy it and keep pushing because at least in those games, it's your fault if you die. Therein lies the difference. Hearthstone punishes you even after understanding the game and playing it good. It just doesn't matter. This is why there is a salt thread that will never die until either the forum and/or game does.

Fuck Hearthstone. It's a toxic game full of toxic players.

Exactly. Most people actually understand these truths about this pathetic "Card strategy game". Nothing more than a cash grab by a company who makes  money off of children...and adults who thinks this game is truly random.

The chaotic RNG fiesta is what makes the game fun. It's cool to see it happen (both ways). Losing to a crazy Puzzlebox actually gets a smile out of me. Unlike lolaggro killing you on turn 4.

Most card games are too dead serious (you can even see it in their visual design).

I agree altho I think it's good that she went to 3 mana. When you have high value cards like Soul Mirror or Murozond you really do not want to play her even if it would be good as you can just get countered and end up in a worse position. And uf you have Galakrond you cant play her but then you have dillemma if you tempo out Galakrond or to wait till he gets to the max power level and value but then you might lose a good Illucia turn. And against combo deck you might just do a useless play which cost you the game or by not playing lose to the combo. It is a high skill level card

It was good in the early game when your hand was 7+ mana cost cards. You played it against druid and just steal their innervate/lightning bloom and if you were lucky enough you could even waste an Overgrowth. The hand the druid got that way was unplayable.

This also means you now can't steal 8 mana cards and there are many good 8 cost cards.

Can somebody explain how murlocs got nerfed in BGs? I rarely play BGS, so i'm not familiarized with the system.  The change seems like a buff to me. You get it a tavern tier earlier, the tradeoff doesn't look that bad.

    Kaelthas nerf should have been

"The third spell you cast each turn costs 0"

    1 time effect per turn.

    ugh

Arena is a much better experience with greater emphasis on using your tools rather than just drawing the win card.

Yeah, of course it is, but priest tools are usually very annoying and slow as f..k! Even the goddamn hero power helps a lot to make the entire match super slow (mostly because it can be used to heal your minions, not only the hero).

Having said that, I don't think the class should be deleted, that is too much! XD

Isn't it good to have a class like that? An option for players that like a reactive playstyle and longer games. It feels more rewarding than playing an aggro deck that just dumps their hand every turn.

This is not a salt thread.

I dunno about that one, friend...

Yeah, opening post is full of salt, but OP still has a point. Priest is so unfun to play against that even facing this class in arena is super annoying. It is not unfun to play with (most of the time) or watch some streamer laddering with it (obviously, if the streamer knows how to be entertaining), but its usual playstile is ridiculously slow (and again, extremely annoying for your opponent).

I don't know why people dislike playing against it so much. I rather play a 30minute game against priest than a turn 4 loss against hyper aggro decks or riddiculous combos (You can OTK somebody in turn 1 currently as a druid, it has been done)

It's a fun class fo play. That being said, I just auto-concede Priest vs Priest.

The class I hate the most is DH. I refuse to ever touch that class and it's the class I most enjoy winning against.

So I guess the same applies to silencing Deathrattle minions or secrets like counterspell....

No, it's not denying any fun.

Yes, any card designed to disrupts the opponent is denying the fun of the opponent. The moment you disrupt what the opponent has planned to do, you are denying their fun. Whatever plan they have is whatever they see as fun, disrupting said plan is denying them the fun they planned.

This shouldn't be that hard to understand. If you have the ability to comprehend what someone else other than yourself might think, this should be very easy to understand actually. You need only think what is it they are planning to do and that denying them that will deny them the fun.

Do you not consider the opponent disrupting whatever you are planning to do as denying your fun? If you consider, then same applies.

I disagree. It's all part of the strategy. And when i'm at the othet side of the stick I don't feel like they are denying my fun. Ieven find it fun to check for and dance around secrets.

The way you beat combo decks is by either playing aggresive aggro and killing them before they draw all the combo cards; or you add tech cards to protect you (cards that don't 100% of the times work)

Imagine queueing with a control deck against a combo deck and not having disruption cards. You would just be better off if you instantly concede because you don't have a chance. You'll be dead once they draw their combo and there's nothing you can do about it.

I just want to point out to everyone clamoring about cards like Dirty Rat being returned to Standard: How much fun would a single card be, of which you can put 2 in your deck, when it completely wrecks your opponent's combo? You know you're basically doing the same as the decks you're complaining about, right? You draw it, you win. Malygos Druid does the same high-roll aesthetics.

Combo decks winning at turn 6 is a rare occurence, but you choose to make these few bad interactions you had with the deck the sole reason why it should be nerfed. You lost to something more powerful than your deck? Tough luck, move on. Don't take away other people's fun just because you lost to it.

Adding tech cards such as Dirty Rat isn't ruining somebody's fun. It's rebuilding your deck to counter specific opponents. And if it works then it shifts the meta. That's a good thing. You want constant changes in the meta.

Dirty Rat is a card specifically made to ruin someone's fun. You are denying the player the ability to at a minimum play a battlecry they want

So I guess the same applies to silencing Deathrattle minions or secrets like counterspell....

No, it's not denying any fun.

     It should cost 4

    Base 3

    Nature Studies (-1)

    Neophyte +1 (x2)

Maybe Cult Neophyte is not stacking correctly.

Effect is on next turn, not next spell. Neophytes were played on different turns too, so with the reduction from nature studies, this all works as intended

Ahhh. For some reason I thought the mana increase was a permanent effect (like an aura). Not a battlecry + next turn.

    Ok, makes sense.
