vbalint posted a message on Playing since beta. My first real try at climbing ladder.Posted in: General DiscussionQuote from the_Night_King >>I am aware of this. The difference of skill between players from ranks around like rank 8 compared to 5 is extremely noticable. I suppose the same is said when comparing rank 5 with 2 or 1. The biggest problem I am having is deciding on having 1 or 2 Possessed Lackey in my deck. When I use 1 I never have my Voidlords in my hand but when I play with 2 they always get in my hand and become useless.Keep 2. And there is no noticeable skill difference between 5 and 1-2. You will mostly see aggro decks where the only skill needed is being able to add 1-digit numbers at the start of every turn, and the control players are not significantly better either. Your chances of meeting a good player at rank 5 is the same as at rank 1 (talking from experience). -

Lore-wise, Ner'zhul was the Lich King before it was cool. He was originally an orc shaman who was cursed by Kil'Jaeden. He then slowly corrupted Arthas Menethil and finally fuse his soul with him to become The Lich King we know.

About the Balancement (read it) :
- The awaken effects can be easily played around. SO, the 'full board' one must be a strong effect.
- The 'full board' effect aims to counter overcommitment. Of course, 90% of the time your opponent can play around it, but there're many situations where he can't. Let's consider Bloodreaver Gul'dan , or Dudadin cards and gameplan, and so on. It limits the opponent's board to 6 slots, and it could help.
- The 'empty board' effect is easier to achieve. The point of this is that you have to know if and/or when you want to play Vokyoz. You have to play it when you are sure of what you want to copy in your deck and so on. It's not always easy to steer, it's supposed to be a skilled card. Obviously it helps a lot in control matchups.
Good competition to everyone :) -

Sillyraptor posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 7.10 - Submission TopicPosted in: Fan CreationsI feel like this card would fit really well into rogue play style, taking up space on the board and denying damage from your opponent (or protecting a big minion on your board) while also requiring thought so you don't just throw away the effect by playing after it; also the 1 mana lets it be used for cycling because 1 mana spells for rogue are awesome.

This sexy card barely will be playable at all.
1). Constructed - even in shaman and rogue it reeeally seldom will be turn3 6/4, ONE game from TEN or even worse, but if we get this 6/4 later - it's not a some overwhelming turn anyway, and if we put something like Thalnos on board we mostly want to use our spell with value firstly, and to get some 'huge' minion - it's not our purpose in SP-decks, and do you really think that 6/4 is 'huge'? for SMorc playing maybe only, not for value trades, 3-4 drops and lot of spells trade with it one to one;
2). Arena - tier D/E I guess, because of stats without buff and hard conditions for getting this buff in arena.

How it can be possible?? I'm a midrange pal, he is a gay-priest: I have perfect starting hand, but...
Turn 1: my zombie, his 2 zombies with coin out,
turn 2: my juggler, his PWS and trade with juggler for free,
turn 3: my muster for battle and trade with 1 his zombie, his... ta-dam!.. you are right, pyro and 2-d PWS - board is clean!
turn 4: hero power + minibot, he put, right - deathlord!
turn 5: have nothing to play except 2-d muster for battle + hero power, and what do you think what play he??? right - holyfucking nova!
turn 6: play second zombie + hero power, he steal zombie of course
Is this game honest at all? Esports you say? I'd rather say cheat-sports

What's stronger - stone or clemency?
Stoneskin Gargoyle
Northshire Cleric
Next attempt to return into the game some actually weak and weird Blizzard's minion. Really powerful spell, yes, it can be even "broken" in a lot of variations. However from the other side - it's in most occasions very awkward to play if we have 2 or more minions on board (because of almost 100% chance to be overdrawn/get too early fatigue and of course because Cleric - yes, veeery usefull for priest but still one of the weakest minion itself and it can punish us not less than our opponent). I suppose this spell mostly as some new anti-handlock trick, and against all other even control archetypes it wouldn't be OP if our opponent plays carefully, cautiously(as normal players always play against Priest because of strong AOE danger: combo with Auchenai Soulpriest or Lightbomb). So mostly it will be something like advanced Hex or Polymorph if it cast on 2 minion (or even definetly weaker if it cast on single enemy minion) - and can have a really huge overpowered effect on 3+ enemy minions (if they're not some trash like 1/1-tokens of course!) - but who guilty that he put them and anyway he'll keep something like weak analog of 'board' still;) Btw Old Abbey can become one of the most elegant counteraction to Dr. Balance! And there will be a lot of that I call 'mind games' - how to use ability of Gargoyle to own advantage for both players: to draw more cards, not to give draw cards or even try to overdraw opponent.

Can I get some advices about manacost - I suppose to increase it - and whether there should be used the word 'board' and the plural for the minions in wording?

Can die against board like Knife Juggler + Leper Gnome (2 from LG +3 "free" from KJ+ 3 from KJ=8), but can freeze a little early aggression and save for you not so little hero's HP, without this pesky feedback of Deathlord and 1 mana less too. Synergy with Hobgoblin, and all other buffs will be just great also!

Interesting idea... but manacurve: why wouldn't make 4-mana higher, eg. 1-2 Belchers replace with 1-2 Argus (Shaman is that class, that really can afford it himself!), why we need those Volcanic when we have in 90% cases better new class 4-mana unit, especially with 2 Lava shocks and why we really need Corruptors - this is pure betrayal of our marvelous Fire elements so! And have some doubts in Fairy dragons as well as Hungry dragons (if even classes with class-ability that afford to control their 1-mana "gift" still have no viable decks with them!..), at least doubts that we really need 2 instances of both. I should test it though and then say my final "verdict" :)
Well I tested it in EU, in casual for beginning and my "verdict" if decks can be marked like cards in arena -tier-list this deck would get from me mark "D"-"F" not more. Have score like 2:8 against mostly shit-unranked decks no matter how good was my starting hand - in ranked I afaraid if I try it below 10 rank this score was 1:9 0:10 - something like this. Problems:
we really missed usual shaman's silences and big guy's killers - spell is not enough, so we have troubles and with cancer-deathrattle decks and really huge problems against Handlocks, CW, other heavy decks (well, to waste in average 2 spell for 1 Giant maybe OK but not for win-playing); Lava shock usually doesn't help, btw really often situation when we have more than 5 cards and have nothing to play! or different problem - empty hand, and Thaurissan without value - 2-d extreme; our totems have no "job" as in more or less working shaman's decks - we have no tools like Rockbiters, Flametongue, Argus, and it's really sad... So, sorry if it was too sharp criticism but if I make Maly Shaman: I first of all would add card-draw, at least 1-2 cards, return obvious shaman cards (like Hex, Rockbiter, Flametongue, Earthshock etc), and remove some doubtful cards for sure!

On EU ranks 3-4 double Brawl? Are you sure? It's not NA 10-25 definetly, my friend;) One Brawl, one Harrison Jones, and second Shield Block instead of Slam - this is my opinion. There is a possibility for including Baron Geddon instead of Whirlwind also.

Can be OP, can be very weak for 2 BGH decks as well as for simple Flamestrike or something like Ancient Watcher/Shadowflame combo. 3 "7": Manacost, Attack and "7/4" in text. Pirates just need some fresh stuff - that's my thought...
