Try not to disenchant multiples either, last time they did a nerf I had multiple copies of the cards and disenchanted them all. Getting 40 dust instead of 5 for a common is worth it if you have patience and x10 is 400. So i could craft an epic just because I held on to my spaew commons.

Ah! Never thought of that! Well, I've got a deck I'm happy with now, so might put off dusting extras unless I'm desperate for it! Loving this event. I already have enough sitting there to craft a legendary. Trying my best to hold off until August!

As a newer player, I gambled a bit on this bundle. 1 golden legendary in my 2nd bundle. 4 more plain legends in my 6th. I almost didn't buy the sixth, but glad I did.

Was kind of weird though. Couldn't even hit singles of commons I wanted, but managed quite a few 3rd or 4th copy of junk rares and epics I'll never use.

You might have been hittin the "guaranteed legendary within the first 10 packs of each set" rule with the legendaries, if you are a new player, but in any case, cg :)

Already hit that. I was running on the 40 pack timer. I've been inconsistent, after the 10, with which packs I had been cracking. Still, luck did give me 2 classic legends. Even so, if I didn't grab that 6th bundle, I would have felt cheated. In the end, that was 120 individual packs! Haha!

It's definitely gambling. All the blokes I know who are into (real life: pokies/races) gambling will always tell you about their wins. It's scary when you find out how much they drop to hit those highs. I don't think $60 was too much for me. Provided the missus doesn't find out!

I'm also happy with my boosted collection. After I hit my 40 point timer for Kobolds, however, I'll be saving my gold for the next expansion.

From my experience, I do better at Arena in EU than NA. Could have a bit to do with the cards offered being better, hence better decks built.

You might have just been matched up with bad players/players after 2 losses that no longer care if they win?

Hey Mintberry, yeah, I know I wasn't playing as good as I could have. I wouldn't go as far as saying I was blame shifting. I stated I've done some stupid plays, and have learnt a lot since posting the original post. I also finished, after posting the first post, crafting the rest of the cards needed for the deck to shine. That really helped. I play on mobile, so unsure if that enables the use of HSreplay.

You're definitely right about pocket-metas. Probably the reason I initially went up to rank 17--versing players worse than me, then falling against a bunch that are better. Since posting, I've also learnt to fight against spell hunter. That's nice :) I'm not sure, however, that odd paladin has many good plays against control mage (especially when the mage's arcane bolts and cinderstorms all strike perfectly in the early game). I did try Googling "How to beat XXX with odd paladin" but that didn't show up much. I might head to HSreplay and look at similar match ups if I find myself constantly losing against them. I am keen to learn to play the deck better. As said before, watching the Seoul tournament (day 3) displayed some terrible paladin plays.

I've got a Euro account, but it is more of an extra F2P account. Happy to add you, could be fun to trial your decks some time!

Need to be saving it all for the next expansion which is likely to drop mid to late August like knights of the frozen throne did.

That's solid advice, but my pool of cards is still relatively limited. I want instant gratification, damn it! (I'll probably still hold Hogger until then :P

Odd paladin is tier 1. I just rearched rank 5 so easy.... but you need to be good with the deck and matchups

Now I've got the rest of the cards for the deck, I am feeling that power. Hit rank 16 last night. 1 more rank to achieve my goal. Should get a chance to play tonight/tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get there!

I just took a causal look through you collection. There are a few competitive decks you just need around 1-2 legendary's worth of dust for

    • Missing a pair of SI:7 Agents (classic, auto include rogue card), a pair of Cold Bloods, a pair of Vilespine Slayers (rotating auto include rogue card), an Edwin VanCleef (classic, auto include rogue card) for odd rogue.  People already mentioned it, but I wanted to list what you were missing. All the listed cards are also required for miracle rogue
    • Missing a Circle of Healing, a Shadow Visions (rotating auto include priest card), an Acolyte of Pain (very safe classic craft), a pair of Injured Blademasters and a pair of Wild Pyromancers  for a non-dragon build of inner fire priest. Lyra is very optional. Ever since shadow visions was printed, inner fire priest has become notorious as a monstrously hard to pilot yet competitive f2p deck. Only consider if you're up for a challenge
    • Missing leeroy and 2nd Eaglehorn Bow (classic auto include for hunter) for odd hunter. You've tried it and said this deck is "missing something". That something is probably leeroy ;) As just a single card, he may not look like much but with Tracking in the deck, he gives you an extra out for lethal when you need it. As a pure face deck, this is actually a big deal
    • Missing Fire Plume's Heart, a pair of Brawls (classic auto include for slow warriors), a pair of Phantom Militia, and 2nd Warpath. The top end big taunts such as lich king and drakes traditionally played in this deck are optional if you use one of the faster builds such as those seen in the top 8 of HCT Seoul

Here's the legends I cracked: Nozdormu, Clutchmother Zavas, Blood Queen Lana'thel, and Hagatha.

Well, Hagatha seems amazing for the class, plus I don't have the Shaman DK. Not sure on the rest of my shaman cards, however I did crack a pair of Windshear Stormcallers. Unsure if that's more a gimicky card, but looks like it could be fun.

Clutchmother Zavas and Blood Queen Lana'thel both play on the discard game. I'm guessing this is too slow in the meta, but hey, it's new options for me to play with. I haven't played with Warlock all that much, but I do have a Glinda and Rin. Glinda into Clutchmother with a few discards could be quite silly, if a little difficult to pull off!

Not sure what to think of Nozdormu. It's another neutral classic legendary, so she'll be usable in anything anytime. I also obtained a respectable amount of dust. Stupid double rares. Lol. On 1280 now, so I assume it was close to 1k earnt. Going to finish crafting what I need for odd paladin (minus one creeper), then use my gold exclusively on Kobolds until I crack my next legend, then save it all for the new set.

Nozdormu is a safe dust. He's never been played competitively since the beginning of hearthstone and on top of that, he's buggy as hell. The only time he's been played ever was in decks made to bug out and make the opponent lose a turn.  Even if fixed, he is strictly inferior to the other 9 mana 8/8s out there

The discard legendaries have been unplayed since their printing last year, even with the support of Malchezaar's Imp, which has since rotated. Lana'thel in particular is just on a very low power level. However, there's always the possibility that blizzard could print some very OP discard cards in future expansions, so I'd hold on to these for now

Your other warlock legendaries on the other hand, do see a bit of play. Unfortunately, warlock is one of the most expensive classes right now and even with two playable legendaries, you're nowhere near building a competitive list of any warlock archetype. Come back later when you open about ~5 more warlock legendaries and 10 epics :P Also, I don't believe the Glinda + clutchmother dream works; your echo copies should be only 2/2s even if the original is buffed

Hagatha is probably the best one you opened. She's in every competitive (even and shudderwok) shaman deck right now but you lack about 3-4 legendaries worth of dust to create them. Hold on to her until you do so. She's also likely to be in future shaman decks new in the following expansions

Cheers for the input on building those competitive decks! I really appreciate that. I didn't realise I was so close to building them! Knowing I'm so close to building a decent rogue deck is making me consider that as the Hogger recycling option!

Playing with a more precise odd paladin deck has really helped. I'm pretty much playing exactly this now:  https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1119006-legend-odd-paladin-incredible-pressure minus one Cavern Creeper, plus Prince Liam. Now that I've played the creeper, I can see how much of a big deal he can be. Survives when others don't! Also smashed my first trap hunter by holding back. That felt good. Really good. Made my way to rank 16. Lost a couple of matches on the way, a Jaina that simply board wiped each turn until DK, and an odd rogue. Against the odd rogue I went first with a divine favor, 1 drop, 5 drop. Mulled the 5 drop and hit another divine favour. Rogue played faster than me and I had two dead cards the whole game.

I don't think I'll dust Nozdormu. I really feel weird about the 1/4 return after how hard they are to come by. Plus, I could dust it, only for it to be the next classic legend I get! Same could be said for gold Hogger, but at least that's one for one. Pretty keen to see how these legendary cards fit in with the next expansion!

From what you said, you're not missing just an epic or legendary, you're actually missing key commons and rares, no wonder you seem to be struggling.

Lost in the Jungle is pretty core, but I can understand how you feel. I opened 60+ Un'goro packs and didn't manage to get a single Tar Creeper and out of 80+ Frozen Throne, only one Play Dead. On the other hand, ~70 packs from Witchwood grabbed me all commons and rares in pairs... so yea, tough luck!

The 1-drops are important, definitely in pairs.

Liam can be usable in Odd Paladin. Frostwolf Warlord is fine too. If you have it, there's some variations who run Vicious Fledgling too if you have it.

Corridor Creeper is very good in the deck. It doesn't seem flashy or good at first glance, but when you drop one or even two for 0 cost and refill the board with dudes, specially with the threat of Level Up, that's too much for a lot of decks and that's when you gonna feel its power. Your dudes die a lot so it's really easy to get the discount. Mana cheating is king.

But Liam can be a decent replacement, as with Frostwolf or Vicious Fledgling.

I will be honest and say I didn't like this bundle at all. Pity timers are high (40 for legs and 10 for epics) so getting 2 packs of each set doesn't sound too great, unless you're planning on buy this bundle at least like 10 times. I always focused on one set until a legendary is hit. Always keep track of the number of packs you have opened from any given set. Write it down somewhere, also when you get epics.

You've been playing for roughly 3 months, uh? I've been for 6 now, so I'm not that distant from your experience.

It's really tough because you began just as a rotation hit, so you actually have to care about cards from 5 expansions at once (Un'goro, Frozen Throne, Kobolds, Classic and Witchwood). I began in mid-December, so I completely disregarded Gadgetzan, Old Gods and Karazhan, which were gonna rotate in April.

Focusing all the gold on the three main sets for 4 months (Un'goro, Frozen Throne and Kobolds), with some for Classic but not much, I was able to get a somewhat decent collection, and when the rotation hit, I got the pre-order of WW, and that put me on very good footing with the rest of the field because I spent 4 months building up the other sets and got a large chunk of the new set.

Crafted 3 top decks from the get go. 2 months later, I crafted another one and can craft 3 more but will hold for now. No aggressive disenchanting, no legendary disenchanting (even the crappy ones - those can always be disenchanted at rotation anyway).

I got lucky in the period I started, that's for sure, since I could completely ignore 3 entire sets, while you have 5 to catch on and will soon have 6.

But worry not, you'll get there, you got a top deck faster than I did and will eventually catch up.

Since you bought these bundles quite a few times already, then know that when the next expansion hit around mid-August, definitely prepare and focus on buying the pre-order. It's 70 packs for the price of 40, a really good deal and will almost certainly net you all the commons and rares in pairs plus a good amount of epics and legs and a good amount of dust from duplicates. With that, it means your gold stored can be used to catch up even more with the other sets (which is what I did - I had 4,5k gold during the new set release, and the pre-order allowed me to catchup even more with the other sets) or you could play Arena (I did this also and even made a profit, though that will only give you packs from the newest set).

I for one only get packs in large chunks, like 10 at least, and knowing I can get the exact amount necessary for the maximum pity timer of a set, if it screws me over. Getting 1 pack at a time or per day and hoping to open something good every single day, can be really frustrating and tilting. Which is why I didn't like this Get in Here bundle (unless, again, you buy it a decent amount of times... maybe).

Again, write it down your pity timers for each set. Sometimes you get unlucky and need to go to 30+ packs... and sometimes you are really lucky. I had only a ~25 pity timer for Kobolds, got 22 packs and opened 3 legendaries.

Anyway, good luck and prepare ahead!

EDIT: Oh yea, you should definitely check this place: https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-94/

I prefer to look here for decklists and they have a fantastic report each Thursday covering what's going on in Hearthstone. They do focus more on higher ranks and Legend, so keep that in mind, but that also means you may have more leeway in lower ranks.

Preorder seems the way to go. It's nice to have something to start with, but I don't like the idea of spending too much on a, supposedly, free game. I don't mind right now. I feel like I need to catch up, and this bundle feels right. Congrats, Blizzard, you cracked me!

Well, like a dirty gambler, I kept running Get in Here's until I smashed the pity timer. Other than the golden Hogger in the second batch, I got nothing more until the sixth. In that, I obtained a whopping 4 legendary cards in 10 decks. I was feeling pretty bad with buying so many, and I said no more after this one. Glad I scored a happy ending! I also scored a Corridor Creeper, so at least I can try him out. I'm over cracking Un'Goro, so I'll be crafting my pair of Lost in the Jungle cards!

Got a lot of options right now. I guess the moral of this story, is spending money makes everything open up to you? Or I could have just given up on cracking Un'Goro and crafted from the start. Don't tell me that now :P

Feeling pretty excited right now. I guess I'm allowed to after spending $63! (I'm Aussie, we pay more for everything)

There is no harm holding onto dust. If you dont craft a legendary now you still have the dust. I know it burns a hole in most peoples dust jar, but it is possible to do. Its way better than crafting something you dont like once you have it and can only get back 1/4th of the cost if you dust it. Crafting Lost in the Jungle isnt that bad, its a common card so only 80 dust for 2 of them. I would also suggest not buying packs from last year at this point. Save your gold/money for the next expansion or get WW packs. Long term value is way better.

If you havent read the post linked in my signature, please do. It may save you from some bad mistakes a lot of playes, myself included, have made.

True. I don't think I'd dust a non-golden legendary. It seems a bit silly. Even if Hogger lacked that golden frame, I'd leave him lingering because that dust refund is just dismal.

My collection still could do with a lot of the older cards. Just purchased another Get in Here Bundle. Again, no Lost in the Jungle. I did, however, crack my fourth or fifth Feeding Time! My plan is to keep obtaining Un'Goro until I get my first full pity-timer legendary. I'll probably do the same with Frozen Throne and Kobolds packs too.

Just clicked the link, will check it out now.

I forgot about the Get in Here Bundle. I didnt buy it because I am pretty set on the expansions it has in it. I dont go for a complete collection, just enough to have fun. I am a budget player and know I cant play every deck. Right now I have 4 solid upper meta decks, Odd Rouge, Taunt Druid, Control Cubelock, and Odd hunter. I gave up on Big Spell Mage (inconsistent) and Taunt Warrior (boring). For a newer player the bundle isnt that bad a deal. Still remember that most of those cards will rotate out next April.

Yeah I feel like a gambler falling into a trap. Grabbed another bundle. Feels like I'm only getting rares and commons I alreadyhave pairs of, despite still having none of plenty in all sets.

Although, I did just crack a second To My Side...

Leeroy has been pretty much played regularly since the game began. Its hard to understand why you want to craft it, but pretty much everyone who dose is happy once they have him. A 6 damage rush minion that is a fantastic finisher and will fit in almost every aggressive or tempo deck.

Rouge is a class I didnt like at first, and its still not my favorite class, but it has had some strong decks. Once you learn the class and see how the class cards help you control the board while still doing a lot of damage to your opponent you may learn to like it a little more.

I played Leeroy early on in the deck building adventure modes (I loved those legendary buckets!) but didn't really like him then. That said, I don't think I understood his role too well back then. My mind was still very mid-range/late game focused: bigger is better!

I'll definitely look into rogue again if I craft Leeroy. Feeling like the longer this thread goes, the more indecisive I am about who I want. It's safe to say Jaina's not right for me. It'll either be Leeroy, DK Rexxar or hold until the next set. August is so close, yet so far! I actually thought I'd been playing for three months, it's actually less than two! I have, however, played during three different months! Lol. Started not long after the MtG Dominaria pre-release (April 22nd).

I also watched some of the Paladin Seoul day 3 championships on Twitch. Learnt a little bit, but also saw some dreadful plays. I've gone up against enough Hadronox decks to know that if you can kill it early, you kill it early. I think the 2nd or 3rd pally game had a Sunkeeper Tarim from Stonehill Defender. Played it, then went face instead of destroying Hadronox. That's a bad play! That said, I think a lot of these guys are under a bit of pressure, spend too long thinking of possible plays, then do some silly things.

One lesson I have learnt, is that if I want to play serious odd pally, I must craft Lost in the Jungle. I noticed they all used Corridor Creeper too, I'm just not convinced he's worth the dust. If I do crack him, I'll certainly add him to the deck. I also noticed no one uses Prince Liam. Is he just terrible? I've had my luck with him sway both ways. I always assumed he would give better options during the late game. That said, late game is probably not where odd pally wants to be!

That's a sweet looking deck! Problem is, I own none of the rares, and barely any of the commons XD. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to build a viable Rexxar deck anyways. My hunter is probably the best pre-baku deck I have. Only got two epics: Crushing Walls, which helps a lot late game, and To My Side! which is useless with my collection (but I look forward to eventually using it to smash the Lich King!

Uhm sorry but the last rule doesn't work, you cant open wild packs without money so u gotta craft the cards.... ;D

True! But it does pair with the 'only craft cards if you're not opening more boosters from that set' rule!

    Quote from Dendroid >>

You have Baku which is awesome for F2P, my advice is simple: if you stick to your original plan and turn the Hogger into a Leeroy, you could make a competitive Odd Rogue.  Even though they're both aggro decks you can play the Rogue a bit more conservatively on the board to respect board wipes, but most importantly the main pieces are commons and rare's, a lot of which are neutral.  You gotta think about being competitive, while growing your collection as optimally as possible, while still having fun.  Juggling all of that is really tricky unless you streamline your deckbuilding desires.

Yeah, he was my first legendary craft. A complete no-brainer, that was!

Hadn't thought about playing odd Rogue seriously. I tried putting together a deck (just with stuff I had) and it wasn't all that effective. Leeroy would give me a reason to reconsider!

    Quote from Whodatninja >>

Regarding your question about Hogger, he was never nerfed as far as I'm aware. I unpacked him shortly after I started playing (about two years ago) and he was okay at the time - not amazing, but okay. I think he simply fell victim to power creep - as more powerful cards came out, especially in the past 12 months, a lot of the old classic cards just stopped being viable.

Good to know. I can't imagine power creep would ever reverse? Blizzard would have to be extremely clever to make that work and keep people interested in new sets!

    Quote from sneakytoddman >>

Golden hogger was my first golden legendary too! Immediately disenchanted for Sylvanas

You should target decks that have few legendary cards for a few months, which is currently the even-odd decks ... and maybe spell hunter.

Disenchant all your golden cards that you have in non-golden ... but in the long run you'll regret disenchanting more than that.

And... there's the best sale that's EVER been offered for new players right now. If you're enjoying the game, dump $60-$80 on the promotional packs and you'll seriously accelerate your collection and play options, for the price of a regular retail game.

I never hear of people cracking good golden legendary cards! That said, I don't think people often crack the legendary they want. Bad gold legendary cards make up for that. I could imagine it being a harder dusting decision if you cracked an alrightish golden legendary!

That's the best sale ever, huh? I thought it was pretty good, even by the Aussie dollar, it's just over $1 per pack. I've succumbed to it twice now. It's probably going to happen again thanks to your statement! You aren't a Blizzard rep, are you, sneakytoddman?

    Quote from Lanko >>

How to use your dust comes down to this: craft decks not cards.

First, see how much dust you need for a specific deck. Then go to your collection and write down how much dust you have or could obtain from golden cards/duplicates, etc. If you have the necessary amount of dust, then craft. If not, keep the cards. It's not worth to craft semi-optimal decks, unless a legendary in it is really fringe and non-core, say Captain Greenskin for Odd Rogue.

Yes, Frost Lich Jaina is a good card. But if your goal is Ranked, then the only competitive deck she's in is Big Spell Mage. Which is a very expensive decks, with many legendaries - Baron Geddon, Sindragosa, The Lich King, Dragoncaller Alanna and many epics too: 2xArcane Keysmith, 2xMeteor, 2xVoodoo Doll, 2xDragon's Fury, 2xDoomsayer

Do you have the dust for all this and really want to play this deck? If not, don't craft Jaina, you'll only be able to really play her in Casual decks. Elemental Mage is Tier 4, Exodia Mage (that uses Jaina and Antonidas) is not even there at the moment.

Leeroy is a very good craft. It won't rotate and since you already have Baku, Leeroy is also a staple for Odd Rogue, another very good deck (and far cheaper than Big Spell Mage).

A set rotation won't happen until the end of April of 2019. That's almost a whole year, so you have nothing to worry about time for any card at the moment. That's A LOT of time.

Lastly, there's also your gameplay. Lots of people reached Legend with Odd Paladin. From some of the comments you may be playing some matchups wrong. For example, you may be going into Hunter traps wrong. If you have a Level Up, it's perfectly fine to just fill the board with your tokens and only go in with Level Up.

Odd Paladin was one of the most successful archetypes in the latest tournament, HCT Seoul. You can search on Twitch for it. They're 7+ hours videos for each of the 3 days, but you can only search inside them for some Odd Paladin games, see the plays and the commentaries.

Decks, not cards. That's a very logical statement. My odd paladin (compared to the top tier setup on here: https://www.hearthpwn.com/top-decks/176995-odd-paladin) is missing quite a few key cards. I'm yet to obtain a single Lost in the Jungle. Been hesitant to do so, as after I crafted 1 firefly, I cracked about 4 more. Argent Squire, Acherus Veteran, and Dire Mole I only have 1 of each. I don't have any Corridor Creepers, but they don't seem like that great of a card (to me). I'm using Prince Liam, Frostwolf Warlord, and Lepper Gnomes to fill the gaps.

I'll definitely take a gander at how the pros play. Should give me some great insight in making the deck work better.

In your situation, I will wait until event ends (all mission gives a fine amount od dust)

That's a solid plan. I've got a bit on my plate this month, so would be wise to hold off until then for time reasons too! Don't worry, I have time for my daily quests ;)

Since your a relatively new player, and we are 10 months out from a rotation its a coin flip on crafting legendaries that will rotate. Only you can decide if its worth more in fun to craft something that will rotate like a DK, or is long term value like Leeroy better. I know I went the long term value route in my first year and focused on Classic cards. I go by the 6 months or less left dont craft rotating cards unless they are very special, and at 3 months dont do it at all.

I will add my vote for Odd Rouge. The DK is nice in the deck, but not 100% necessary, Leeroy is. Its a relatively fast tempo deck and is a good laddering candidate. The current meta doesnt really have a dominate deck that can win against everything else. Skill comes more into play, so master one deck, deck hopping will hurt you in the long run.

That 6 and 3 month rule seems solid. I'll adopt that! :D

Deck hopping bad, huh? I can see the logic in that. I've never been that big a fan of rogue, so maybe I should avoid it, for now? Another thing I just realised I'm unsure of, is Leeroy actually worth it in Odd Paladin? Or would another legendary fit in better?

You do not need to netdeck card for card.  Some of these on your list aren't even in standard control mage. The only vital cards here are Doomsayer (which is one of the best epics and seen in multiple decks), Meteor, voodoo doll and dragon's fury. Jaina is enough to carry by herself in the lategame, just sub the open slots with card draw to get her sooner.  I'd call it an equally viable, anti-aggro version of the deck, which is probably what the OP should run since he's reporting tons of aggro at his rank anyway

The most important thing is to enjoy the card you are crafting. Leeroy wins games but he's nothing flashy.  I didn't touch on Rexxar but he is a good card in all hunters right now (except maybe recruit, which is way out of your budget range anyway ... and baku, which on one plays anymore).  Since spell hunter requires an additional legendary and a pair of epics, I'd recommend a midrange hunter with the spellstone package and minions.  There are not even any epics in the deck as far as I can remember

Luckily, the brawl that is out right now is basically a Rexxar demo. If you're not sure if you want to craft him, I highly recommend you play a lot of the brawl to see if you enjoy and are good at using the hero power.  There's lots of skill involved in crafting zombeasts and a good player should be able to win in there consistently

Ah, I think the only epic I actually have out of those mage needed cards is a single Dragon's Fury. Might be best to leave her alone, regardless how good she is. I've got a ton of rare elementals, though.

Haven't cracked any Hunter spellstones yet. When playing hunter, I've mainly gone for mid-range beasts. I did try odd hunter for a few games. It has some nice potential, but feels like its missing something. Will be interesting to see what happens over future sets.

Uh oh, I am not very good at this Brawl! I'll take your advice. If I can't get good at it before it ends, I'll take that as a sign that DK Rexxar and I aren't meant to be. I've kicked butt with him in K&C, however.

Cards are hall of famed at the start of the new Hearthstone year (in April). They usually announce which cards are going in a few weeks prior.

Cheers for the heads up. Guess there's plenty of time to worry about that. If I'm still keen on the game next year, I'll be sure to save my dust for the event! I assume I'll have a bit more of a collection by then, and not so worried about building decks.

Starting to think I might aim at getting all the Death Knights (or most). I've already got the warrior (forgot the name) and DK Alduin. I'm not sure on my favourite playstyle yet, and they seem to fit into most of their decks really well. But who to go with first, Rexxar or Jaina...

Rexxar doesn’t cycle until next year?

But yeah rexxar would be a pretty SAFE craft, hes only gonna get better these next expansions, and he gives so much value. I recently wanted to craft him also so I did and he’s amazing

Cheers for that. Yeah, he seems so OP. Especially if you can keep tempo and hit him on turn 6.

My first Legendary was a Golden Hogger - ah, the memories :-)

Okay, here are some thoughts on dust management and dusting cards:

    - If you're a low budget player, and you're not specifically collecting golden cards, I would recommend dusting just about every golden card you come across. The only exceptions would be if it's a good card that you don't already have two copies of (for commons, rares and epics), or if it's a top tier legendary. The dust you get from goldens is really good compared to regular cards, and dusting goldens is the best way I know of to boost your collection other than spending a ton of money.

    - On that note, here's a link to Hearthpwn's legendary Tier list and crafting guide:

    https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/card-discussion/205920-legendary-tier-list-crafting-guide

...and yes, you'll notice that Hogger is in the very bottom tier. So yes, unless you're super attached to the big guy, I think you can safely disenchant him now. :-)

    - Now as far as spending dust - and again, I'm assuming you're not sinking a ton of money into the game - I would recommend being very conservative, especially when crafting legendaries. A lot of players (myself included) can tell you stories about a cool-looking legendary that they crafted on impulse and then regretted after the meta shifted on them. Generally, if you want to craft a legendary, the good choices are classic cards (as they'll be around forever), and neutral cards (as you can use them in multiple decks). Crafting a bunch of rares and epics is also an okay option if your collection is small - I would tend to favour epics as you'll likely unpack all the rares and commons you'll need eventually, so crafting them is kind of inefficient, but I also don't think crafting a rare or two is that big a deal. I would try to avoid crafting commons though.

    - And lastly, one thing to keep in mind (and again, something I wish I'd known as a new player), is that in the yearly cycle of expansions, the later ones tend to have more high-impact cards, so it's always a good idea to have some spare dust in your account as you head into a new expansion. The Witchwood, while it's a nice set with lots of interesting tools, will probably be the least powerful of the three expansions this year. So if you do dust Hogger, it might be worth holding onto some of that dust, as the next expansion will very likely have better crafting options.

Hope some of this helps, and good luck!

Cheers for the link, and the heads up on how the sets of threes work. Poor Hogger on the bottom. Was he once OP and nerfed? Or has his rarity always punched above his weight?

Rexxar and lich king still have about 10 months left of standard play left and by then, maybe you will consider wild as an option ;) 10 months is a long time to never play one of the top decks. I often hold off crafting cards that rotate soon but usually end up regretting it because I miss the opportunity to play those decks forever unless I craft them in wild, which is even more awkward.  That said, if you don't have the cards to support a deck for them to go in, there's no point in crafting them

Jaina is a good choice for a stand alone legendary. She doesn't need much support and can win games on her own. You can just stick her in your f2p mage if you are really poor.  Elementals not required; don't be fooled by her innate ability to give elementals lifesteal! The water elementals from her own hero power is already enough to make it worthwhile. In top decks, she is seen in elemental and control AKA big spell mage.  Elemental mage is cheap, but weaker than the other archetype. Control mage requires a bunch of epic board clears and removal but the other legendaries in the top end are optional

Hogger is pretty garbage. 4/4 just gets removed too easily outside of arena and he will never see competitive play. Personally I'd keep the golden copy because I'm a collector who can afford it but I would not recommend that to a f2p player

I do not know what the meta is like at rank 15 but higher up, the game is control dominant and not a friendly place for odd paladin. That said, there hasn't been a meta in HS history where Leeroy is not played in some deck. He is probably the safest craft in the entire game

Oh by the way, if you're having a hard time with the spell hunter vs odd paladin matchup make you are probably dealing with the traps wrong.  The correct play is usually to not attack into the traps if they play them. Keep developing board, even if it dies to explosive trap.  On turn 5 (or 4 if they have coin) use the board you built to trade into the wolves. If they did not play spellstone, stop and think, "was what they did that turn better than playing spellstone?". If not, they probably don't have it and you should trigger the traps now and re-develop, preferably with a board that lives through rexxar's battlecry.  You can also threaten leveling up with this play.  In general, if there is a trap up, always trade first and only go face when you have enough board to contest the 3 drop from wandering monster + whatever they can develop the following turn

Cheers so much for the advice on playing Odd Paladin better. It makes a lot of sense, I just never thought it through (or been on the opposite side of the battle). I'll keep that in mind next time. Build and pump. That said, I wish unidentified maul would give me something other than taunt all the time.

Not sure how far off making a good control mage deck I am. A lot of my early rares and epics belonged to mage. She might be more viable for me than Rexxar. I wish I could have both! Might end up with them with the current dust rewards + the lure of the Get in Here bundle!

Cheers for sharing your regret on not-crafting. 10 months is a long time. For some reason I thought it would change on 01/01/19. I don't want to miss out on that Death Knighting fun! I also do enjoy playing a bit of Wild. I find it is a little more forgiving at the lower ranks than standard (I've got LoE).

Not only is leeroy a valuable classic card and a safe craft, he's a likely eventual candidate for the hall of fame, in which case your investment will return.

That said, personally i wouldn't DE golden hogger or any other golden legendary.

What exactly is the process for cards moving to Hall of Fame? Is there an announcement period? Does it happen when new sets come out?

I don't really have much love for gold cards. As a new player I just want effective cards. Hogger doesn't fit that bill very well. I can't imagine that will change.

    Quote from KingSevault >>

    General rules:

-only craft cards from sets you won't be opening any more packs from, with the exception of classic packs

-dont craft for the first month after an expansion, wait to see whats actually good

-prioritize cards from the current year

-dont craft Commons or rares, since you'll open them naturally eventually. Try to avoid epics, if you can

Those are some really good rules to keep in mind. Will definitely guide my crafting in the future! Thanks heaps!

    Quote from Robdawg >>

Dust the hogger man, especially if your an f2p. He will sit there and collect dust and life will pass you by. You will never use him and this game is supposed to be fun, so craft something to make the game more fun for you.

I think it's going to happen! I'm not purely f2p, but I'm not sinking massive coin into the game either. Seems like the way to go. Guess I just need to figure out if I want to go DK Jaina or DK Rexxar!

posted a message on How Should I Spend Dust?

I'm curious how more advanced players spend their dust. I've been playing for nearly three months, and, other than crafting a couple of commons, I saved for Baku. After that, I dusted a few of my golden cards to put together an odd paladin deck. I'm not high on the ladder, but straight after, I had a mad win streak and went up to rank 17. Since then, I feel like I'm constantly going up against decks that are made to counter odd paladin--constant board wipes followed by opponents going out of control.

I've lost a few games where I know I've done stupid plays, but man, going against trap hunters that wipe the board clean turn 3 and 4, into 4x wolves on turn 5, then DK Rexxar on turn 6 seems very common down the bottom of the ladder. Lots of dragon priest and heavy taunt decks too. I understand Odd Paladin has done really well lately, hence a lot of decks are probably set up with counters. I just wanted to hit rank 15 this month. It seemed so close, but now so far (back at 19).

I recently got a golden Hogger (not in the golden pack, cracked it in an Everyone in Here bundle). At first I thought I'd hold onto him until the next expansion, but I really want to hit rank 15. Back to the crafting question, is it better to dust and craft epics, even rares or commons that are useful? I feel against this as my collection ( https://www.hearthpwn.com/members/CWSmith/collection ) still needs a lot of cards from all standard sets and I have dusted a few rares and one epic that I've had more than 2 of. Would suck to craft a pair of rares/epics then crack them for 1/4 of my dust back! Or is it safer/better to stick with crafting Legandary cards?

I was thinking I might turn gold Hogger into a Leeroy to try improve the Odd Paladin deck, but I've decided I'm kind of over it (That said, I understand Leeroy will never be a bad card). DK Rexxar has my attention, but I know he cycles soon, and my hunter collection is way off building a competitive deck. Lich King was another solid thought. He has the same problem, cycles soon. If he was 7 or 9 mana, however, I'd be onto him like a fat kid on cake.

Just now, I had a though of DK Jaina. It was just a fleeting thought, but I've got a few decent elementals, spells, Antonidas, and could even go making it an odd deck. Is odd mage a good idea?

Keen for some recommendations on what the community thinks I should do. Will hold off on any rash decisions just yet, and let the golden Hogger chill the collection. I did try putting him in a deck. Every time I could play him, there were better plays to do! Would be a great card if he was a mana or two cheaper.
