As i see, if we have the option available to play with a class but can't because its way too weak due design changes, then that is a flaw. Allowing a flaw when there are better ways to deal with the issue its a mistake and doing mistakes on purpouse is the very definition of incompetence.
Priest was botton tier many many times in the history of this game, and not once i complained about that. But its the second time a class became unplayable (Shaman being the first in the Face Hunter era) and mistakes like that only happens when they screw up BIG by giving a class too many tools and not enough answers to others that are weak to those mechanics.
After 5 years of experience is just inconcivable they are repeating mistakes like that and not even addressing the issue. Its healthy to have "Power" rotations between classes. "Playability" rotation its not.
Everyone is hyping Cheff Nomi in rogue... but i wonder if she could become a win condition in priest combined with Seance
And looks like both my predictions were right. Seems like Priest is currently unplayable due lack of AOE and Nomi is the best Anduin can offer in standard. I never wished for priest to be tier 1 but Blizzard REALLY dropped the ball this time. I saw what was comming 5 months ago. Other sites/players saw it as well. From my point of view, Blizzard is either being incompetent or they just don't care. Probably both.
Yep, RIP Anduin. i tried 2x Pyro, 2x Mass Hysteria and 2x Auchenai combo and still isn't enough. Druid has too many token generators.
Well, i think thats it for me. I was hardly playing the game since the Baku nonsense and now they are pushing the same archetype to druid, but this time we don't even have the removals. It was a great game while it lasted, made many friends over the years but its time to move on.
Wish you guys who still enjoy the game all the best!
Everyone is hyping Chef Nomi in rogue... but i wonder if could become a win condition in priest combined with Seance
And it looks like it actually works. Still day 1 but the condition wins everytime if the games get there. Tempo rogue and BoomWarrior are bad matchups but looks solid vs everything else so far.
I am still a bit worried Priest didn't get any AOE removals. But on the other hand, we got plenty of good cards. In fact, i think its the first expansion there isn't a single bad priest card. So i think the class is going to be ok.
Now i want to talk about these:
This card will be a staple in almost every priest deck. Not much else to say. Really annoying to play around.
Vargoth will be the new staple in every control deck once the exp is out. I've been trying it out in Priest, and works great with Power Word: Replicate and Seance If your opponent can't deal with the board, its possible to kill him with a single Mind Blast or play 4x Mind Control in the same turn.
Forbidden words is pretty good. Hench-Clan Thug on curve was extremely hard to remove untill now, so welcome. Also very efficient against old time nightmares like Ysera and Twilight Drake

I mean, every single class will lose significant amounts of their core sets, because the rotation takes out the most powerful sets in Hearthstone history. The only class that will sort of survive this, with a semi-realistic deck still, will be Paladin, whose Odd-Paladin and Even-Paladin certainly will be able to survive the onslaught.
Wall Priest probably won't be viable anymore because Shadow Visions is rotating out. Divine Spirit isn't consistent without it.
Quote from www.vicioussyndicate.com: "The clock is ticking. If you are a big Priest fan, enjoy it while you can. There’s a danger that this is the last month the class will be competitive for a long time."
The question is not if this class gets this, or that class gets that, but if in light of big core set shuffle card designers are willing to diversify win conditions, slow down the game as to skill becoming a more decisive factor of winning games by curbing the mindlessness of burn, buff and chargers, which by itself is - unfortunately - the main mindless win condition off all classes.
The unwillingness of curbing aggression is the main problem. As the unwillingness to balance in such a way that all classes have viable skill-based archetypes.
I fully agree with your statement thou i think some level of sheer agression is necessary to prevent games from being exessively long.
Meta defining deck = Meta DEFINING. A deck so strong that FORCES all other decks to play around or adapt/tech against it. Examples of meta-defining decks: Cube lock, Dr 6 paladin, Face hunter, Patron Warrior, Pirate Warrior, Jade Druid, etc.
Tier 1 decks <> Meta defining ones. Some decks you listed are not even tier 1 decks.
Well, ppl have been complaining about the state of the meta game for years and priest never had a meta defining deck in the history of this game.... so maybe what we need is less "me go face" and more "do me trade"? :P
Some ppl here are missing the point of the thread.
What i am hoping to see in the next expansion are: 1- cards that can fill the role of efficient and reliable board removal; 2- a win condition identity.
Now that Baku an cya will be gone from standard, getting cards that are not very good becomes much less of an issue BUT we still need both conditions above fulfilled for priest to be playable.
Psychic Scream, Duskbreaker, Spirit Lash and Shadow Visions will be gone, so the only AOE left is Mass Hysteria, which isn't reliable. I predict priest will have to fall back to the Auchenai/Circle once more. But then what? Which leads me to the next question...
HOW DO PRIESTS ARE GOING TO CLOSE GAMES ?
Innerfire / Divine Spirit isn't consistent without Shadow Visions. Dragon Priest doesn't have the tools to fight the board early against the Baku nonsense and has pretty bad synergy with Mass Hysteria. Archbishop Benedictus fatigue war attrition no longer. Alex + Mind Blast is still possible but loses a lot of consistency and range without Shadow Visions and Shadowreaper Anduin
I am really concerned about this next rotation. I reached legend multiple times riding weird decks but its the first time i can't formulate any kind of playable gameplan/strategy for a class i've been mastering from closed beta. There is a VERY REAL possibility that priest won't be even playable if Blizzard mess up in the next expansion.
So yeah, lets keep our eyes peeled when the time comes and plz Blizzard, don't mess up.

I also miss those days :)
Win conditon was to force your oponnent out of cards in his hand/deck. Nowadays even Hunter has a reliable draw/resource generation mechanic.

I know its a lot early, but was just wondering what would happen if the rotation happened today:
List of key cards priest will lose in the next rotation:
Psychic Scream
Duskbreaker
Shadow Visions
Spirit Lash
Shadowreaper Anduin
Twilight's Call
Radiant Elemental
Awaken the Makers
Archbishop Benedictus
Eternal Servitude
Lesser Diamond Spellstone
And that leave us with 0 viable decks.
