I've always been a wild player but decided to play some standard to complete some achievements, while grinding for gold for the new mini-set. How can you people play this? Literally 9 out of 10 people are bots. I've reported all of them but some don't even show up on the recently played opponents list and you can't even report them (lmao). I've heard people complain about bots but going off my wild experience, where I only faced one every so often I didn't think it was this bad but Standard is literally unplayable.
Side note, let's just this "which players are smarter, control or aggro" argument to rest, as every single one of these bots just plays aggro. A literal bot who just plays all his cards can play your deck, you're not smart or good and you've ruined the game.
I've not played against anything I perceived as a bot in Standard in like a year, nothing like when Wild had 75% Pirate Rogue bots all the way up to legend.
Generally I don't even mind bots since they are significantly worse than human players, so it's just more wins and an easier climb for me. It's not like your opponent being human adds anything of value since the only form of interaction is emotes.
Your matched opponents depend on your internal MMR.
Since you're playing a lot of Wild, your internal MMR is similar to the highest rank you achieve each month, hence, you meet no bots there. However, because you haven't played Standard in a long time, your Standard MMR is the lowest possible, which is why you meet a ton of bots. If you win a few games, you'll meet fewer, then none.
You are aware that some bots are there intentionally, placed by Blizzard for the express purpose of filling out the lower MMR, correct? The way you can tell if it is a Blizzard sanctioned bot is if the client doesn't acknowledge them for the purposes of adding friends or reporting.
Would you prefer it if you had 10-15 minute queues?
Would you prefer it if we went back to the times when new players were facing opponents with refined meta decks, because there was noone else playing at beginner ranks?
No. No they’re not. You’re confused and misinformed. This was discussed by blizzard itself in a blog. There’s a distinction between Blizzard bots and third part bots. Please go ahead and read about it. The information is right there, at your fingertips:
We’ve seen some frustration recently with increased bots in some aspects of Hearthstone. We take botting very seriously; we hear you and we’re acting on it.
We’ve seen a marked increase in third-party botting over the past several months. We already do regular, massive ban waves for bots, and we’re working to scale up our response to match the influx of new bot accounts. So far this year we’ve banned hundreds of thousands of accounts for botting—and we’re ramping up our efforts. We also have people working on solving this problem on a systematic level.
We can’t share more at this time. We have a general policy against explaining our cheating investigations or actions, because we have found that every time we share information about the process, that just helps the cheaters get more sophisticated, making the problem worse in the long run.
You can continue to help by using the in-game reporting function to report suspected bots. It helps us track down and eliminate these accounts. Another way you can help is by stomping these bots whenever you face them on the ladder. While you do that, know that we’re fighting them right alongside you.
Here are some of the ways you'll know if you play a bot.
They usually appear in patterns, so first you might see a standard deck (well known decklist / cards) with some odd ones in between.
This opponent might be really good or really bad depending on your ranking / winrate.
They will often play very fast and end their turns in almost an instant when they spend their mana. They even coin, do nothing from time to time.
They also use alot of the card backs released since Revendreth / March of the LK, and that includes the new Lich King ones (most popular for bots) as well as Hakkar and others, again depending on your rank / WR.
In about 3 weeks I think I've played against real people 10% of the time, the rest have been bots.
If you wanna test this I recommend you do it late at night. It's absolutely insane how we've gone from 6-7 min queues in Duels to now having an opponent almost instantly or within 30 sec.
Nobody is playing this game, and I suspect Blizzard have been doing Bots ever since it's inception. Inflates numbers, looks good for investors. Twitter did the same.
Wow, this is crazy. I just decided to play a bit with my own slightly different version of the Casino Mage from the front page and suddenly I'm only facing bots, lol.
For reference: If I'm not playing with friends I always play Casual. So it's Standard Casual. Normally all my decks are Wild. So I'm generally playing Wild Casual. And I have to say that my MMR is probably abysmal. I just want to have fun so when I'm facing a boring deck or the opponent can't win anymore I usually just concede. Yeah... you don't need to tell me I'm "doing it wrong"; I just want to have fun and don't want to "oblige" to "playing how you're supposed to" like competitively and such. I rather have a hard time finding friends and playing with them instead of "becoming a tryhard" if this is what it takes.
Thankfully that seems to be only problematic for Standard though. In Wild I don't constantly face bots. Although sometimes I wonder how long until also Wild will be "unplayable" for me, lol. I rather dislike this MMR system. It only works if you play "competitively" like "casual competitive" I guess when it comes to the "Casual" mode.
I would really like to see a "non-MMR" based mode. The advantage would be that for people like me there would be at least a chance (a better chance I feel like) to face a so-called "worthy opponent"; someone of a similar skill level and such. But I guess I'm very much in the minority here. So yeah, fair enough I guess.
But the bots are still annoying and I can testify: Most of my recent games in Standard (Casual) were against bots.

Please tell me you're joking.

I am not saying that every bot on the ladder is put there by Blizzard. The OP mentioned that they are reporting every bot they come across, but some can not be interacted with. That is indicative of an AI player placed by blizzard. The existence of these players was confirmed back in patch 24.4 https://www.bluetracker.gg/hearthstone/topic/us-en/23852687-24-4-patch-notes/
"Apprentice (new player ranks) and low internal-rating players (colloquially called “MMR”) may now face up against AI opponents when playing on the ranked Standard ladder. This will help said players have a more fun experience while learning the game. Experienced players will not face these AI opponents, and they will have no impact on MMR, leaderboards, or legend ranks. Most players advance beyond the affected MMR range upon leaving Silver or Gold ranks."
I was simply pointing out that some of them bot being faced by the OP were legit.
Side note, let's just this "which players are smarter, control or aggro" argument to rest, as every single one of these bots just plays aggro. A literal bot who just plays all his cards can play your deck, you're not smart or good and you've ruined the game
Garbage take. Those bots don't win with the decks they play, no matter what it is. Aggro decks are always more popular cause people like faster games, and the decks are cheaper. For some reason tho, control players feel like they're better than everyone else cause instead of 'I only play minions and hit the face' (which is a bronze strategy for aggro decks btw) they go like 'I only play removal and never hit face' (which is also a bronze strategy for control).
There are lots of bots in lower ranks these days, but why you consider that a bad thing? They offer free, fast wins, and you can get your quests done more easily.

I am playing since 2015 and maybe played against a bot twice. EU Server.
Cool story. You also probably don't even know you're playing against one

Bots don't rope and HS is no chess, so what's all this ranting about?
Would you prefer it if you had 10-15 minute queues?

Sorry, my bad.
I play every season in the D5-1 brackets and occasionally legend and can't think of a time I thought my opponent was a bot.
I only see bots at Bronze, and that one time I was really low legend
