So I’m playing since Blackrock, after a while i had a break, came back the expansion before ungoro and had a blast of time with HS. Ever since Ungoro i preordered every Expansion until Stormwind. Stormwind had some lazy cards, a boring Herocard and everything felt off, just like the meta nowadays, just like many many things, that are going in a wrong direction with HS, but still my heart tells me, that the new Expansion will be a blast of fun, somehow. The Herocards remind me of KOTFT and damn (!) that was a great time, a fun time. So now i‘m in a 1v1 with my heart and my brain. I need some other opinions and not just „hah you whale go spent money dumba$$“. No. I need some serious opinions.
What you need to know for if you preorder the quest line are still there . The expansion will feel fresh if the meta changes out of quest lines if not I suggest holding off .
I'm actually kind of excited for the new cards, but... man, the cheap bundle is $70 CAD in the shop.
I just can't justify that right now...
I might go with the Tavern pass again, because I think I got good value out of during this current expansion. But that's probably going to be it this time.
You might try another link for shopping. Im living in Hungary (part of EU) so when I google search for Blizzard shop it gives me a link to the EU shop by default. However if I use the US shop link manually I can get cheaper prices. Compared to the EU shop the US prices are like 13% cheaper. So I use this link: https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us
Edit: So I did the math, in your case, Google tells me that 70 CAD = 55.24 USD and the cheaper preorder costs 50 USD in the US shop. Its about 10% cheaper in your case.

The answer to your math is no. When you have an account with a different currency from what you are purchasing you have additional costs from the card itself (and this cost is generally not so low), "currency spread". See what you actually paid in your bank account after the transaction.

You want serious opinions or just an excuse to justify spending money on randomized loot?
Man… please stop spending money on randomized loots and systems designed to extract money from you through psychological attacks.
It is not just simply “it is my money and I can do with it whatever you want”. Randomized loot and other shitty micro transactions businesses will never go away unless you and the other million “individuals” start sobering up that you aren’t acting as an individual anymore but as a collective group.
TL;DR: Don’t preorder, don’t spend money on randomized loot. Ever.
Stopped spending money on this game years ago, not going to do it again any time soon, not worth AT ALL, paying 60€ to get 1/3 of the game, what a joke.
Speaking as an individual with a job~ Yes, absolutely. This is looking to be a great expansion, but also an aggro heavy one with Demon Hunter potentially reigning terror on ladder and in duels with it's new hero card. If you have the money and want to keep up with all the chaos, yes - pre-order. I just pre-ordered the mega bundle, and will probably also get the smaller one.
low on dust n gold, only just returned back to hearthstone 2 mth ago. so i guess i will be buying since not enough gold to buy lots of packs although im starting to save now, 800 gold at the moment.
I bit the bullet and just went for it. Sure, I have been pretty unhappy lately with the game but they are at least making an attempt to slow things down.
Well it seems like the consensus here is not to buy. But I am going to and here is why.
First, I usually buy the preorders, I haven't a couple times for various reasons but usually I go for it. I think this expansion looks especially fun. I always really enjoy card reveal season but I think this may be the most excited I have ever been for new cards. So many interesting, fun and powerful cards seem to be coming. (for some reason I am also thinking I was very excited for Boomsday) I play wild, mostly paladin and druid, but I dabble in everything. I also usually buy for this reason because I like to explore everything and keep all my cards so I can be creative when I want to.
I would say if money isn't a thing then why not? unless you have the gold and dust to where it doesn't matter and you can just get everything that way.
P.S. I am not a Blizzard plant. I actually feel this way.
This is the first time since the game went live where I think I wont preorder - I have spent so much and the game feels less exciting every expansion. I mainly just play reno hunter in wild and battlegrounds now - standard feels boring. Back in the days I was so excited when new cards were released and all the decks I would make up - hell even the inspire mechanic as interesting to me.
Maybe it is just time to retire and focus on other games.
At my peak when I was playing at high level competitive I was doing both preorders and pass, but only because I needed to have the best meta decks ready for tournaments. You absolutely shouldn't do that unless:
1. you need to be ready for open cups
2. you want to have a full collection
If you have a job, it's better to get an extra shift or two instead of grinding arena for cards, or some other boring stuff.
Now I don't have time to play open cups, so I will probably only purchase the pass, unless the new cards seem really interesting.
I have been F2P in the past however recently have started buying some small bundles from time to time. The F2P mindset I previously had can really eat away at you if you don't pay attention. I was always trying to maximize ways to earn gold, at some point even grinding aggro decks all day to get 10 gold for 3 wins. So much time wasted.
These days I would rather spend some money and enjoy the game more. It really just depends on your personal situation if you should buy packs/preorders.

The only meme mode is bgs.

If you take for example PayPal, the "currency spread" is 4%, so you are not gaining practically anything. https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees
If you are using a different way to pay you might even lose money in this way.
In conclusion, what he will actually pay will be: 55.24 + 4%. Using Paypal.
And I am not even talking about the conversion rate which can make your deal terrible.
Do you mean 50 + 4% which is 52? Still cheaper. By the way Im not using Paypal, Im using Mastercard.
I pay with card and the math is OK. euro->$ 44.64€=50$
I think that it is better if you step outside this topic and you don't advise people about how to lose money in a forum related to a card game.

Bundle giveaway event is gonna happen like in other previous sets?
Nope. Not pre-ordering anymore. We have to vote with our dollars. Or else they'll think everything is fine.
You can tell they're getting desperate though...look at the bundles in the store. It's getting ridiculous.

just buy both pre-orders- no questions asked
I'm a sucker for hero cards and i like a lot of what they showed thus far - so i'll preorder.

yeah no pre order here. As long as Quests are in the game I know I wont be playing for more then a week after the expansion launches.
