The current tavern brawl (top 3) has highlighted to me how many players still utilise the exploit that prevents animation times from effecting their turn.
Sometimes I’ll meet an honest Rogue, who can cycle through 4 cards in their deck 2 or 3 times.
Then I get a few (like the one I just played) who can cycle through their entire deck, which takes 2 minutes. I beat them with poison Murloc, so I’m not salty, but it makes me wonder about ladder?
How many players are so serious about winning a match that they employ these techniques? Last time it was highlighted was the Warlock deck. But now, it’s a Tavern Brawl deck?
Is life that bad for some people they need to do that?
TBH I think it is waaaay past time we just got an option to turn off or simplify animations. My laptop is shit and I won't get a new one for a while, the games and especially BGs I lost to animations is too many to count. And I just got back like two months ago after years long break, 'nuff said.
I think having a very good computer and internet bandwidth (& playing in your local region) will always provide you a good experience rather than a player with any poor stuff (internet and/or computer) which will lose time getting the animations
I face this issue on a daily basis. Just playing some discovery cards. Sometimes it can take few seconds (~3s) before I can get the 3 choices. Watching some Streamers, they can get the cards instantly. If all players take only 2 seconds to choose the cards, with a good device/network, you can play 5 discovery cards where someone with a low resource device/network will only play 2.
Like @Neko_Tamo, I'm still waiting for Blizzard to provide an option to disable/reduce/adjust (pick the best for you) the animations to allow most of the players to have a decent and pleasant time in-game.
This highlights something I've not thought of before. I liked the idea of a 15-second round mode but I think it would only work if there was a way to skip the animation or just have a generic one for showing damage for some visual feedback but nothing more. Legendaries don't need to announce themselves and longer card effects can be shortened.
I'm pretty sure one of the things you can do is click the cards when they show themselves large on the left half of the board. That saves most of the time each card takes. It might not be what you're talking about, though, so nvm
There is a good youtube guide how to improve HS performance, look for:
How to Reduce Lag and Stuttering FPS in Hearthstone (Desktop Version)
This video will show you how to reduce lag and stuttering frames per second in Hearthstone using a few solutions compiled from online forums, Reddit, etc. Note that some of these solutions would only works on a Windows computer. [00:15] Disable Streaming on Battle.net Underneath the Hearthstone logo, click on Options and a drop-down menu should appear. Select Game Settings and click on the Streaming tab. Uncheck Enable Streaming. This should help reduce the lag a bit. [00:33] Enable Additional command line arguments in Battle.net Within Settings, click on the Game Settings tab and check Additional command line arguments. If already checked, enter in this command -force-d3d9 Click done and restart the launcher. This should force the game to run on Direcx9, which can help reduce the lag. If all else fails, click on another game window when starting up Hearthstone. This game window should not have any special animations or embedded video or live stream. For this example, I’ve click on Warcraft III Reforged. My guess is that the special animations and embedded video can take up resources, impacting the overall performance of the game. It may not help, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Otherwise, just close out Battle.net once you launched Hearthstone by pressing ALT+Tab and closing it out. [01:36] Alter game resolution and framerate Locate Hearthstone’s options file by going to: C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Blizzard\Hearthstone. Within notepad, add in the following: targetframerate=144 showfps=True vsync=0 graphicsheight=480 graphicsquality=0 graphicswidth=640 These can be placed anywhere in the document. From the forum post, it suggest that the targetframerate should be 144, but on my hardware it worked best around 30fps or lower. https://us.battle.net/forums/en/hearthstone/topic/20753717897 [02:12] Windows Game Settings Open Settings by pressing Windows Key + I. Then, click on Gaming. On the right side of the window, there should be something called Graphics Settings, click it. Click the browse button and locate Hearhtstone’s .exe file. It is usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Hearthstone. Click on Options and select High Performance. [02:48] Windows Defender If all else fails, then disable any antivirus program currently running in the background.
No i don't, you can skip animatios by just logging out and back in, your PC needs to be fairly powerful but it can be done, and seriously Pokemon has had the option tu turn animatios off since red and blue, a Game from the frigging 90s has that option, it's about time HS adds that option to the game as well
This should be a feature, not a work around. A cards animation shouldn't be factoring into the gameplay at all. That being said, since it is a work around they should focus on fixing it first and then make animation skipping a thing.
People joke that you can run this on a toaster but actually the game is quite demanding and very poorly optimized.
For some reason y’sera the awakened always lags the hell out of my client when she is played, for reference I can run games like modern warfare or red dead redemption 2 without so much as a single hiccup.

They said it would run...not that it would run well. Yahtzee has complained many time about having to downgrade his settings so a game doesn't animate in powerpoint presentation mode.
I'll quote from a youtube comment that I completely agree: "The real problem is that the game is so broken that animations are the only way to stop a deck from OTKing on turn 6."
This was about in wild skipping animations to make crazy impossible plays.
I agree that there should be some kind of an option to limit animations, but it must not create some great difference on gameplay, like being able to play 30 cards in 1 turn. An option that helps lower end systems to handle the game would be great, but it should not cause unfair advantages.
It all comes down to game balancing afterwards, if there were a setting of disabling animations, to make it fair, they should renovate the game so there are not any crazy combos. If not, then disabling animations would be a bad idea to implement into the game, it would be unfair againt people who want to see the animations and whatnot.

🤷♀️
Let's get this from the start: Don't discuss the actual hacks and exploits themselves. That's against our site rules.
Discussing their effects is fine.
On topic: I have never met anyone using it in constructed or Brawls, far as I know. Do suspect I have been up against people using it in BG.
If you see a bad post on the forum use the report function under it, so I or someone else of the moderation team can take care of it!

Play as you are. Have Fun!
Windows Key + r, type "%localappdata%\Blizzard\Hearthstone",add these two lines in options.txt:
targetframerate=144
vsync=0
I don't think this is considered a hack, but you'll notice a significant difference in animation speed. This game is really poorly optimized.

Tried it years ago, doesnt work for me. Also tried to add custom commands into game launch settings.

id love to see an option to disable animations

Does this still works?
