Hey everyone - just wondering if anyone has found a fun deck to counter (read: semi-counter) Mage? I actually don't blame anyone who's playing No Minion Mage right now, it's pretty fun and since there is so much RNG, all the matches feel different. However, I'm finding that no matter what I do, I can't stay out of Nagrand Slam range (which I have literally never played a game vs mage where they didn't use it at least once).
I saw an "anti-mage" Priest deck that Deckkster was playing, but I have had HORRENDOUS (0-5) results with it so far.
The best deck I have had success with against Spell Mage has been my Life or Death Demon Hunter deck. It has almost never lost to Mage except for one or two mega high-rolls on his part.
They simply don't see the burst damage coming. It's a crazy powerful deck that almost always catches the opponent by surprise.
I play a lot of spell/casino/no minion Mage and have done for ages now. Hyper aggro messes me up, when aggro demon hunter was popular I just started conceding at the start, no point, I will lose 99% of those match ups.
I've come up against a couple of weapon rogues since the new expansion and they were a nightmare. No idea how rogue does in other match ups though but if you're running into mage a lot, maybe just give that a go? Or anything dead aggressive, I'm sure there will be a hunter deck that fares well against mage, even if it isn't great against other classes.
Watchpost decks are a hard counter to All Spell Mage. I have a Paladin Watchpost deck that can consistently shut it down on most occasions.
Really? Come up against watch posts a fair amount now and lost once I think, that was only because they flooded the board with 5/5s and I just didn't have an answer.
Soon as I see one drop now I will make sure I hold a removal for that board reload, not had an issue since. I couldn't care less if you increase a couple of my cards by 1 and if I've popped incanter's flow, you've not even managed to do that.
Had a game yesterday where someone dropped two of the minion posts and a mana increase one. I'd used two flows by that point so just left them up. I'm not playing any minions anyway and my spells are still one cheaper than normal. Plus you've got 3 useless minions just taking up board space. Left them alone and won the game easily.
Even Yogg is easy to play around. If I see paladin and I'm on coin I'll always keep it. Fairly often it gives me a prep and actually benefits me.
There is that 5 mana 5/7 though, the one that summons a 2/2 with taunt when you cast a spell. That thing is a real pain in the arse, it's health means you generally need to use 1-3 spells to remove it and it doesn't trigger after the spell is cast, it does it once it's cast, so devolving missiles can end up missing it even if it starts as the only minion on board. Yeah, that one has cost me a couple of games.
I’ve played a hunter deck with watch posts and the big elemental that summons a minion. It has lost only once to mage and that was on me from a misplay. It’s currently 22 and 1 vs any mage and has done fantastic against most other decks.

Cheers. Hope you are all having fun on ladder.
I heard it loses to weapon rogue. Rogue in general surely has the biggest shot, just go agrro.
I'm 3-0 against mages with an Elemental/Enhancement Shaman build I found on this site.
Face hunter is the best deck, you win at turn 5.

They don't since they have 2 copies of devolving missile.
I'm playing Soul DH atm, it's pretty decent and hitting face for absurd amounts of damage is always fun.
If they play lunacy on 2 you're still screwed though.

Agro paladin. And climb
I play control Warlock and I have a pretty good winrate against mage.
