I used to buy every pre-Order + some extra packs every now and then. I actually stopped spending money because of how bad the reward system HAS BECOME. Dust inflation is real and its a shame that most fun/meta decks these days cost around 10k dust if you don't wanna play the most straightforward aggro deck.
Given how bad the rewards from playing the game itself are and how much most decks cost now it does not feel good to spend 50 bucks as it doesn't provide as much of a decent start into a new expansion as it used to do. Might as well stop spending completely then
While I don't agree with the inflation as dust values have remained the same ever since, I feel you in regards of the reward system being absolute BS. Like there is no need to grind beyond rank 5 unless you are a try-hard "pro". Just get your golden epic for the month and dust it if needed to craft an epic of your choice. They have to either tune the dust reward, I am against adding packs or gold as rewards in my opinion as we already have daily quests and tavern brawls for those freebies.
I wouldn't use the term dust inflation here because that makes it sound like things cost more dust than before. I however believe that it was really bad for the game that they introduced having 2 legendaries per class every expansion in journey to un-goro. It does make each class slightly more interesting, but it skyrockets the cost of decks. The entire year of the mammoth, the paladin class was completely unplayable for most people because every single decent paladin deck contained at least 4 paladin only legendaries...
People have to understand that blizzard is a company though. They employ a lot of people and they need to make money. They probably started doing that and making epics and legendaries more powerful as the expacs went on solely to make money. If anyone remembers back in the day, it was actually a meme how bad most legendaries and epics were. In the classic set, only a couple still see play, and it's loaded with worthless cards like Cho, Millhouse, and The Beast. It's no coincedence that they upped the power level of legendaries over the years. People are way too harsh on blizz for wanting to make money though. Remember the days when it cost 50$ (in 1990s money) to buy an N64 game? Games have way higher quality now, and are a lot cheaper. Look at games like Subnautica. That game cost 19.99$ and it would've been the greatest and most played game ever if it came out in 1999. The video game industry is struggling now because of things like piracy, and companies need to make money.

Or you are someone who plays Hearthstone because you enjoy playing Hearthstone and not because you want to earn free content.
I agree -- if you think of the game as a job for which you are paid in pixels instead of money, I don't see why you ever bothered playing in the first place.

"Why, you never expected justice from a company, did you? They have neither a soul to lose nor a body to kick." -- Lady Saba Holland
Since HS started releasing 3 expansions a year and did away with Adventures the game has certainly become more expensive. Also, there was a time where every class got one legendary per expansion - now it's two so more legendaries to craft. A good chunk of them find their way into the top decks of a particular meta.
Gvg for example had 20 legendaries and WotOG had 21. Uldum has 23, same for RoS. Two extra legendaries makes a difference for those on a tight budget or F2P. TgT also had 20 legendaries but interestingly enough, it was the first expansion to have two legendaries in one class - Hunter with Acidmaw and Dreadscale.
While the dust cost of cards hasn't changed, players certainly need to invest more time / money just to keep up. No more Adventures means no more getting every single card in one swoop for relatively little money / gold. The rewards do add up and you can get about 6-8k gold if you save up and complete all your quests between expansions but it's nowhere near enough.
I get the frustration. Ultimately it's a choice. You can choose to spend money or invest a lot of time in the game to keep up with the meta. If neither of those is an option then the other option is to stop playing if only having one or two decent decks bothers you so much.

Sorry, but that is huge BS. To get full expansion you need to spend $450-500 on packs (135 virtual cards!). That is the equivalent of a new PS4 Pro! To get 4 full expansions per year, you have to spend $1800-2000. A normal game, with a budget usually exceeding $300 million, costs $60. Poor Blizzard indeed...
Yes, it’s no fun paying 50$ for the expansion only to end up with a bunch of half done decks.
Blizzard should give out more gold packs to paying customers to ensure decent dust value. When you buy 50 packs you could for example get 10 golden packs. That would help alot dust wise. Maybe it would even attract some F2P to invest in the game.

There are only THREE expansions per year. Learn to count before you whine.
go to wild, wild is mythically infamous for being expensive which is far from the truth, sure you need to pay a shiton if you want to play a renodeck but such is the nature of highlander decks, you want to run more good stuff, but for regular decks, many of them are tremendously adquisible in fact, many viable decks like Dragon IF priest, Mech hunter, and Secret mage are super cheap with a maximum of 2 legendaries investment, and well the aforementioned mehc hunter is dirt cheap if you already own zilliax and got Sn1p Sn4p during the free event.

Sure, my bad and that completely changes the perspective! Instead of $1800-2000 you have to spend "only" $1350-1500. So it turns out that everything is fine, Blizzard is great and there is basically no problem, right? Why would you pay $60 for, I don't know, game like Cyberpunk 2077 or God of War, if you can have 135 virtual cards (half of which are rubbish) for $500? Only moron would do that!
Like there is no need to grind beyond rank 5 unless you are a try-hard "pro".

It’s no one else’s fault that you can’t enjoy the game with the cards you have and refuse to pay for the product. If you don’t enjoy it in the capacity in which you play it, stop playing it.

Mech hunter, and Secret mage are indeed aggro, so you are confirming what he is saying Lidl_wayne.
And by the way, I agree with him. The game is really expensive (specially wild, it is prohibitive for new players) at least you don't want to play aggro. The game has always been like this, but now it's worse. Even worse, now you have to pay also for the single player contents, which were free before.
It is 4/5 expansions that I am hating this game. After Brode, it is ruined.

Care to explain your logic with these numbers! I am not F2P but I only order the pre-order and then spend 3k-4k gold that I collect between expansions (doing the 1 quest per day and playing for 1-2 hours max) and I get the full set almost, crafting what is missing with duplicates dust and keep in mind I don't DE Wild or Golden or useless cards, like I have tons of epics and legendaries that can yield me dust but I am a collector. Completely agree with this response- Blizzard has every right to charge absurd prices for content but can't expect to make fans happy. You either charge hard and implement a great reward system OR not charge as much upfront and have a weak reward system...Blizzard mixed both bad apples and thus you have a thread like this with valid complaints. Blizzard (HS specifically) has certainly made some life-improving changes over the years but let's not act they aren't greedy money whores **insert Brode's laugh**
