In the past few seasons, I have found myself enjoying playing both Standard and Wild. I actually love both formats (yes, each has its issues, but each has things uniquely fun about it). I got to thinking the other day: why isn't there some kind of reward for ranking in both formats? I don't know what that would be, but I was curious to hear what the community thought.
...yes, yes, yes, I know Blizzard is notoriously stingy, so you don't need to post about how it'll never happen. I know it won't (cough, Blizzard are you listening? Feel free to prove me wrong, cough). I'm more curious to hear a) what you think double rewards could look like and b) as the poll questions ask, would that impact what formats you play.
While I would like rewards for both formats I don't think it would be a good idea to have that in the game. While Wild is fun is a really expensive format for a new player and it would be kind of unfair for newer players. What I would like is to have something like different rewards for each format, maybe wild cards or wild packs or something.
Stingy?? Hey, here is a game to play that you don't even need to pay for. On top of that here are lots of free packs too. We have brawls. Win once and you get a free pack each and every week. Need gold to buy more packs.. well here is a quest each and every day and some are even worth 100 gold on top of the gold you get for winning matches.
I like the idea. Maybe make the rewards for your highest rank, whether it be Standard or Wild, earn the standard rewards, and have your other rank earn slightly depreciated rewards. For example, if you finished rank 5 in Standard, you’d receive the rewards as they are currently set up, and if you finished rank 7 in Wild, you’d receive a lesser version of what that would normally net you.

Why are you defending blizzard? Every other card game gives way more free stuff away and this idea is very reasonable to give it to players that earned themself an additional reward.

Ok, no . . . no . . . a thousand times no. Artifact. Nuff said.
Having said that, I would certainly play Wild if it gave me another golden epic every month, so if there is a derth of wild players, it's an option.

Don't get me wrong: I love this game. I have no problem with MANY of the things Blizzard does re: pack give aways, gold earned for playing, Brawls, etc., but I think you misunderstand: My post wasn't meant to be an ultimatum-do-this-or-else-I-quit-because-I-want-more-free-stuff bitch session. I'll keep playing the game regardless. I was theorizing ways Blizzard can further reward game play - to keep pulling in new players, to keep long-time players invested in playing. Many, many, MANY games incentivize play. Hell, damn near everyone one does. Even the something as simple as the 'I got the highest score' approach has been around since the beginning (that's an incentive to play).
As for 'stingy,' funny thing is, I wrote that stingy line to try to prevent people from griping because I know lots of people feel that way... guess it goes both ways. There's actually only one area I feel Blizzard is genuinely stingy: the dust/crafting ratio ;)

With respect, how is it unfair to offer a reward to someone who can earn it just because someone else cannot? I genuinely don't understand. If it took away from the reward that the person could earn only play Standard, then absolutely, I agree.
Re: earning different rewards for both formats, that's what I'm thinking. What if it was as simple as earning the same reward based on rank, but in Wild you earned Wild cards/packs?

youre acting like some kind of greater jurisdiction who can tell people what to do and what not, I've noticed that in other threads too. its really cringey
I would prefer to see better rewards for ranking. Ranking is supposed to be the most important aspect of HS and yet you get poor rewards for a months efford. 200, 300 or 400 dust worth of rewards are nothing compared to the time each player invests in getting as much high as he can.

I actually think that Blizzard could make more money if they gave season rewards for wild and standard. I’ve dabbled in wild quite a bit, but I’ve never quite been able to bring myself to spend real money on the older expansions and adventures. Even when they offered this most recent deal on wild packs, which admittedly was a very good deal, I still could justify spending money on it.
However, I probably would have if there had been end of season wild rewards. And it’s not even necessarily because I want more free stuff at the end of the month. I mainly want some indication that Blizzard takes this game mode seriously and will continue to support it in the future.
Heavily favors those in possession of wild format cards.
Even the sentiment of "well you'd still get something for getting your 5 wins in wild" doesn't rectify the fact that a player can have a viable standard deck that hits rank 5 easily every season, but their cobbled attempt at breaching wild might barely hit 15 on a lucky win streak.
I like wild, and I have a handful of cards left over from each set, but I focus on standard, and this would offer a nominal-at-best reward for facing largely superior firepower just to scrape up a couple extra rewards every 30 or so days. I'd rather focus on climbing rank in standard, since ladder is already a time sink and as a dad I can't try for legend in two formats, let alone the struggle it is just to make enough time for standard.
I'd rather see a slight improvement in ladder rewards, maybe one extra item at every gift level. Besides that, wild needs much more care from Blizzard before we can treat it the same as standard. Wild is far more rewarding to those who have the most broken decks of the most expensive cards. And yes, I'm fully aware that there are players that use "sub-optimal" and f2p decks and hit legend in both formats, but they aren't the majority, not by a long shot.

What is your point? Artifact was just plain bad in its concept in todays market place. But Shadowverse, Magic, Faeria, duelist, Elder Scrolls Online, Eternal and Duelist give away a lot more. I have to admit they have to in order to gain more players, but nonetheless it may not hurt Blizzard much if they add some more ways to give away new stuff.

yeah, it's wrong to ask for more free shit. Every time I turn on the tv all I hear from the hearthpwn demographic is gimme FREE healthcare gimme free college gimme free housing. gimme gimme gimme.....maybe you should tell your whole demographic to stop asking for free shit. Too bad that won't happen because all they do is beg for free shit so why does this even surprise you when they ask for more free cards. The whole badge of "i'm F2P" is a goddam joke. Reading these threads is good for a fucking laugh is about all they are worth. Keep begging for free shit and the rest of us will just keep laughing and believe me that's all we do.
My point was, the quoted poster made the absurd claim that "every other card game gives way more free stuff away".
Rather than go on the "get off my lawn" rant that Warnerve75 covered above, I thought I'd just point out that the second hypest card game release of the past 4 years (behind M:tG Arena, of course) also had the worst monetization model I've ever seen.
We cool?

If you like one mode or the other or both, you should play what you like. You shouldn't need extra rewards to convince you to do so. If there aren't enough players in Wild, that's a problem with the game mode, not a lack of rewards, since you CAN already get the same reward for playing there.
