Just a question for the `I hit legend on all servers every season`players.
What is it that motivates you to do the grind every month for such a little reward. I was actually very relieved when I hit legend that I don't have to play so very many games beyond the point it stops making fun. Since then I am perfectly happy to reach rank 5 every time and enjoy the 500 dust. The ratio of time I'd have to put into the game for the small reward just doesn't do it for me.
So again, is it just that you have too much time or is it for your personal feeling of achievement that you grind so many games?
Well, i've been playing HS for two years and i've never hit Legend. Every season i reach at least rank 5 to get the golden epic at the end of the month.
But after reaching rank5 it's really hard to get to Legend, The level of the players is higher and everyone is playing the same 2 or 3 decks wich makes it real hard to counter withou playing really good. Apparently i'm not good enough ;)
Hi guys, I've been playing Hearthstone for a few years now and today it's my first time hitting rank 3, and it's my highest rank so far. However, I find it extremely tough to climb the ladder now, going back and forth between rank 3 and 4. Had to grind a lot and took me about 2 weeks to climb from rank 5 to rank 3.
Do you guys find it extremely tough to climb to legend or do you guys find it relatively ok/easy to climb to legend rank? What are your experiences climbing the ladder nowadays, would love to hear your opinions :D
It certainly is a grind. The key is to find a deck that has a solid winrate of around 60%. (There's a few out there). Then it's literally all about perseverence and keeping going (dont switch decks even if you are tempted; if you get bored, take a break and come back refreshed).
With a 60% wr, you'll hit legend from R5 in 90 games on average. That equates to about 3 games per day each month. That's not "grinding", that's called doing your daily quests..
Yeah, on The other Hand IT took 60 games to rank 1 and now 40games later i still have 60% winrate after 100 games but just dropped back at rank 2 4 stars. I start to Be full of this shit.
- Mulligan is crutial! Allways concider your oponents deck, sometimes you need to be brave and look for specific cards and recognize your winconditions worth keeping in the opening Hand (kathrena, oakheart,...)
- Deck Choice: Every T1 deck (and most T2) is good enough in the right hands but chose the one you are the most familiar with. It may be interesting to specificly chose a counter to the most popular ladder decks. My recommandation for this month is odd dragon warrior with extremly high winrates against all kind of hunters, paladins and mages (13-3 winrate for ranks 2+1).
- Experience: It may take a long time to master a specific deck. Even braindead stuff like odd paladin offers more decision points than you would think. Take your time, reflect over every loss and concider risky plays when you are behind. It‘s those games you „shouldn‘t have won“ that make the difference.
- And finally patience: with a consistent 60% winrate (wich is realy good!), you have to expect +-90 games to reach legend. Try to focus less on the stars, those are frustrating. Enjoy the games, accept losses against bad matchups and do your best (i know, this is difficult on your first legend grind)

you probably are good enough, but just have to fight through bad mental states a few loses in a row can get you in...
I usually try not to even look at stars and rank while going to Legend - I have my winrate stats in front of me, and as long as the w/l ratio is good overall, everything is fine, no reason to rage or feel bad... even if I lose the final boss fight and then drop to rank 4 or 5 (happened a few times tbh :D)!
If you don't want the climb to take forever, don't play a control deck unless you absolutely adore it.
I brewed a tempo Even Rogue deck that beat most popular decklists back in Witchwood, and I'd recommend doing something similar to anyone else. When you're running a deck that plays cards more frequently there's more opportunity for skill expression, meaning there's more outplay potential for your deck than if you were playing a typical durdly on-curve deck. If you want to rush to Legend, play a deck like that and not a deck reliant on living to turn 12+ in order to win.

i am currently rank 6. The highest I ever rank I made it to before this was 15. I have been playing Hearthstone for a long time but only about a year of actually trying to climb ladder. It is exhilarating and exhausting all at the same time. Right now my goal is just to hit rank 5 before the end of the month for "dad legend" status. I feel like I am getting better at this game enough that I should be able to climb higher next month. I want to hit legend at least once then just focus on staying at rank 5. I am currently running big rogue.
Got legend this season with even pally only from 5-legend. Even though some match ups are tough: hunter, odd control mage, odd warrior and odd pala it kinda worked out. Took me over 175 games which is a lot.
The first time (also it was the last time) i hit legend i realized the only reason to ever hit it is to get the card back (which i never use).
For some it may be more important to hit legend, for many reasons. For me its just another rank as all the rest of them with same decks running around.

I'm just another one of those. You know, those who do things. Things that need to be done by those that do these things in order to do those things that don't do these things by themselves. Has the word 'things' lost meaning to you already?

Personally I just enjoy the game. I look at it like this: I don't play the game to hit legend, I hit legend because I enjoy playing the game. For some people the grind is enjoyable and not something we have to force ourselves to do for a reward, just playing the game is all the reward needed.

I've been here before. What I realized it's 1-2 cards that will give your deck that extra 5-10% push.
Hopefully you're using a deck tracker. You have to look at the deck tracker and count the games against opponents and look at who you're losing to. And who you're winning against.
Then decide what you can add to win those games you lose. And not detract from your winning games.
Example. I play Even lock and I took out 1 Defile . Because I don't struggle against wide boards. I added Plated Beetle. I can't decide on a better 2 drop atm.

Good luck everyone! Embrace the rng :P

You can't stop the signal.
If you don't want the climb to take forever, don't play a control deck unless you absolutely adore it.

I just wish you got bonus stars to make the grind more bearable.

I don't even play Lich King . I play 2 x Siphon Soul and 2 x Dread Infernal
1 x Bonemare . These are all choices you have to make. My Winrate is 71% at Rank 5.
I also play 2 x Acidic Swamp Ooze . It just seems to guarantee that my opponent doesn't have a good weapon ever.
