I swapped cult master for Sir Finley and try to get brann out when I can play at least one jeweled scarab (or another discover card). I rarely need carddraw, but another heropower comes in handy.
Because people are dumb and don't seem to realize how popular Modern still is in MtG. It's going to be even easier cost-wise to get into Wild as well due to static crafting costs compared to Magic's bartering and varying reprint economy.
can i say you are dumb for comparing wild to a format that has tournaments and comparing a game where your cards have 0 value to a game where the cards DO have value?
its kind of hilarious that YOU are calling people dumb tbh.
So you must be from the future since you already know that there will be no Wild tournaments. And also you must play on a lot of big tournaments since the tournament meta is apparently your concern.
pretty sure blizzard specifically said all tournaments(since you're gonna be a child and be nitpicky, ALL BLIZZARD HOSTED TOURNAMENTS) going forward would be standard.....
Which means 5 tournaments a year will definitely be in standard. Also you didn't answer me if you are from the future or a regular in large tournaments?
why would i want to respond to your middle school antics?

wrong forum dude. we really dont want anyones card list posted here, if we were looking for one we would do a deck search.

Honestly, dude, I don't care what you want or not (and you are not "we"). BFM made a hint in his post that I assumed he is interested in a control hunter. And if you complain about off-Topic, then you should better not post off topic yourself. Makes it more believable.
This thread is one long juctification based on MTG. But MTG was never a DIGITAL game, its cop out. Blizzard could have easily fixed this game forward without formats, but they're too lazy - what they do best is copy others ideas and polish them up - thats what HS was, thats what WoW was, thats what Warcarft was. They're too stuck in their own methods for success. They really didn't need to copy MTG here.
Then tell me, how do you manage to have a regularly refreshing meta while not powercreeping the game and which is also working as a Business model (to maintain Blizzards motivation to further Support the game)? In my opinion this can only be achieved by a cycling out old cards. No powercreep and no cycling means eventually a neverchanging meta since the best decks will stay the same. Noone will buy new cards and Blizzard will end hearthstone. Powercreep as an Option seems equally bad since eventually shredder will look like a whisp now and Players had to get more health, because the 1 mana 6/6 common Ebolagnome with deathrattle 6 damage would end the game to quick (slightly exaggerated, but you get the idea). In my opinion cycling out old cards is the only option they could have done to Keep the game fresh and without powercreep.
And to the rest: I am happy if they further do their job equally good as they did it until now. I actually think that the game is presently in a very healthy state.
They were the ones who set the power creep ball rolling, Naxx and GvG were their decisions. They needed to start swiniging that nerf bat like they did prior to offical release, once they realised they'd cocked up, the majority of the player base would have fully supported them. Not just nerfs but balance in general. Buffing some of the unplayed cards would've been fine too. Now instead we get a massive content strip.

I don't see why people think there will be crazy power creep in Wild. If anything, it will be the opposite. Because cards like Shredders are gone, Blizzard could release weaker cards for future expansions. I am talking about cards like Savage Combatant, which might have been good if it wasn't for Shredder. These new cards will simply not see play in Wild.
Anyways, this is what I would do when the format hits: 1. Buy new expansion with saved up gold. 2. For decks that can be updated to Standard, do that, and play Standard. 3. For decks that cannot be updated to Standard, keep if they are fun/powerful, delete if they aren't. I will play these from time to time when I have a quest or I just feel like it. 4. Dust the useless cards from the old expansions that can't be used in Step 3. I see no reason to keep cards like Maexxna or Stoneskin Gargoyle even when playing Wild. I will however keep cards like Loatheb and Dr. Boom.

People who refuses to play aggro out of principle are even worse than people who play exclusively aggro.
One should seek to become a complete player and play all archetypes, including ones that he despises for whatever irrational reasons.

So your solution would have been to constantly nerf and buff single cards? That is basically the no-powercreep-no-cycle solution with a meta quickly stale and hardened. Noone is buying cards any more the game will die due to a lack of support from blizzard. I don't find that convincing.
And yes, they were the ones who started the powercreep with Naxx and GvG and now they are the ones who stop the powercreep for a new mode (so actually you get new content).
- F2P players will immediately dust non standard cards to create cards from new contents so nearly all f2p players will abandon Wild
Why? I have a secondary F2P account that started around May, (almost) no arenas, just daily quests. Nothing special really, there's F2Ps with much better collections. Still, I can bring Oil Rogue, Dragon Priest, Dragon Warrior, Face Hunter and some other competitive decks to wild. Initially I'll be a bit behind because I'll have to catch up on the 5-6 cards in the new expansion that will be relevant to my go-to decks in the new expansion, but it will be enough.
Depending on how important the new expansion is for standard compared to BRM/TGT/LOE, it might be easier for me to compete in wild. We'll see.
In any case, if you are F2P and have half a brain, you keep all the key cards from GvG and Naxx that you worked so hard to get.
Only F2Ps who started very recently and don't have much GvG / Naxx will be locked into standard. They'll probably won't come to wild before BRM/TGT/LOE are cycled out (if they are still playing in 2017).

Not really, the meta would've been fully under their control. The only time the meta has gotten stale now and in the past is due to OP - broken cards being prevalent. Why is is that new mechanics they badly wanted to introduce like joust and inspire failed?
As long as HS remains numero uno CCG Blizzard keeps making money....crap loads of it actually for the dev costs. Ask yourself how many people on these boards wouldn't actually get the packs for new content that blizzard released? How many HS players would just ignore the new cards?
The collectors among us might now with them being cycled out every two years. They might just straight up quit.

Exactly. Because the present cards are too strong, the newer sets are only providing some replacements of existing decks, like Justicar in CW. Only the powercrept cards can enable new decks (Emperor, Mysterious Challenger, Twilight Guardian). If you kill only Shredder, many more 4 drops will be used, but the meta will not change due to this. And eventually, you will have everyone found out what the best Card for his deck is. To make Joust and inspire cards work, you really need to get rid of more cards so that the meta can get refreshed and a combination of formerly weaker cards can start to be above the new powercurve. And that is done by a cycling format most efficiently.
Edit: And I am buying packs. But only, because the they comprise cards which are stronger compared to the present powercurve. I don't buy TGT for Tuskar Jouster as Long as I can use healbot.
Well they have point though.I personally can't wait for standard, however let's face it only secret pala and the other ''flood the board like there is no tomorrow with sticky shit'' decks will remain in wild. It's not that wild will be more unbalanced than the existing meta but who wouldn't like to get rid of the naxx and gvg bullshit? You know the answer! That's right!Wild will be purelly aggro and fload decks since every other archetype of deck(unless they fuck it up again like gvg) will move to standard. So if want to try a new deck with all the cards you will have to close your nose and swim in the bullshit sea.
I would think it's anything but that. Decks like zoo will be just fine, and probably getting back to be more aggressive with losing Dr. Boom and Mal'Ganis. Aggro always find a way. If anything, wild will be filled with decks that relies on certain key cards, and cannot simply adapt. I am thinking of decks like Mech Mage, Patron Warrior, Secret Paladin, and Oil Rogue.
There is a pretty good chance that Wild won't get the same support that Standard does from a balancing perspective and definitely from tournament support.
It likely will become a more casual mode than current ranked.
All that said, I think Blizzard will end up putting work into supporting it, at least from a balance perspective. It's inevitable however that they will be faced with a choice if a card proves too powerful in the Wild format: Either they nerf the card across the board, thus hurting it in standard, or they ban the card from the Wild format entirely. My expectation is they will realize they have to do that latter.
None of this really impacts me because I'm not really a high level ranked player anyway. As long as I have opponents to play against in Wild I'm fine with that. I don't play in any tournaments and frankly 99% of the hearthstone player-base doesn't either.
I can't wait for the new mode and plan on only playing it but I won't dust any old card. Without piloted shredders, hounted creepers, nerubian eggs, Dr. Boom, death's bite, loatheb, mad scientists we might finally somenew interesting decks.
This is what I'm looking forward to most. I for one don't feel like auto including piloted shredder and dr. boom in every deck I make from here until infinity. Each expansion has a card that makes it to the to the allstar list, Loatheb, Emperor, Dr. Boom, etc. Those cards will never go away.
Wild mode will die out sooner or later. Yes there will be some hardcore players that would still play it but I guess that would be something like 1% of the current population or even less. There are several reasons......... Tell me how many players from MtG players base are still playing Vintage mode. All players will eventualy die out and new players will be unable to go wild without shoving huge amounts of money.
In two-three years nearly nobody will play wild.
Comparing it to MTG Vintage is a really bad comparison. Vintage and Legacy are both very difficult to get into because they require enormous amounts of money to participate. A typical MTG vintage deck is close to $10,000. Legacy is around $3,000.
A more apt comparison is the MTG Modern format, which although still an eternal format, allows for cards that have been reprinted, and therefore isn't that much more expensive to play than Standard.
Wild cards are still available through crafting. That still is admittedly more "cost" prohibitive than standard since standard cards are more plentiful for newer players as they open them in prize packs but it's hardly the same barrier that MTG formats like Vintage and Legacy have.

But Joust and Inspire cards suck. And not because of the pre-existing cards but because Joust is too unreliable and Inspire way too slow on tempo for the benefit they entail.

When you dump something down the toilet it disappears while still existing in the sewers. Welcome to Wild mode, "it's not like they took our cards away".
I still only play Vintage Magic with two distinct group of friends to this day. It's multiplayer casual, and we play mostly for fun and not cutthroat. Many of us substantially recouped our investment by selling a lot of our old cards. I sold a couple Beta Power Nine cards for an obscene amount of money. That all said, I realize that we're the exception, not the rule.
I plan to play mostly, but not exclusively, Wild in Hearthstone. The only golden Legendary minion that I ever crafted was Sneed's; and I don't plan to dust it. Sure you can supposedly dust your older cards and reinvest the dust for newer cards but that's a losing proposition. And being a digital card game I won't ever be able to sell any of my cards. Hopefully Blizzard won't abandon Wild and hopefully a lot of players will continue to play Wild at least part of the time.

While I can agree with the general problems of the mechanics, I think some of these cards are actually not played because of the pre-existing better cards. There are a few good ones which are already used like King's Elekk and some others will likely see play if GvG and Naxx are gone. E.g. if Dr. Boom would not be there Nexus Champion Saraad would surely see some play as a 7-drop (he was already used in some CW decks). But yes, most of the inspire and joust cards feel weak.

@BigFatMurloc: You should try out this hunter list before webspinner and belcher are gone. That is actually fun and also somewhat competetive.

These arguments are obviously pointless. Time will tell who is right, and who is a brainwashed blizzard loving fool.
